Love this game. Does a great job of easing you into a chaotic bullet hell. The music makes it feel that much more intense which puts a unique and needed flare to the genre. Challenging, but rewarding!

At first I thought “hmm, this is pretty easy!” - no, it gets harder. Sound track is on point, too!

I love rhythm-based games!

This is a very fun and challenging experience, with a lot of customization and unlockable content. I really like the simplicity of the art style (it has kind of an outrun-esque feel to it), and the music is really good, very catchy.

Pazing By

Pazing By

Pazing By is a Hidden Gem among the Bullet Hell/2D Platformer genre. The game is still in early access but provides 6-7 stages to go through with numerous replayability and secrets to discover on a run. I personally like the combat by gazing enemies to do damage to them as it makes it possible to learn its attack pattern before getting hit by them. Moreover, I like the bosses in the game for each stage where you have to face of with 1-2 mini bosses before facing the main boss of the area making it more satisfying/frustrating when perfecting them. However, like any early access games there are minor bugs and issues that are actively being resolved and updated by the developer of this game. I encountered errors with unable to launch the game at first but reached out to the devs to resolve this issue and yes i did the devs were very friendly and provided a solution to this problem making my day. In conclusion, I would recommend this game to anyone who loves bullet hell/platformer games.

Super Star Path

Super Star Path

An incredibly short sort of color-match puzzle on one hand and a SHMUP on the other. Whenever a boss is reached it’s almost as if the puzzle section never existed because of how much of a reflex-incentive game it suddenly becomes. It’s even mentioned on the Steam store page that it’s short and that it’s “more puzzle than SHMUP”.

There’s more control over the movement with a controller than there is using a keyboard. Can’t rebind the controls but instead they only give you 3 keyboard control schemes and only 2 controller schemes. I’ve got more problems with the 2 controller schemes because all that they use and switch around are (A) and (B) which does “Action” and “Cancel” with “Action” being the “Fire” button when in-game. For a game where you can shoot as fast as you press the button I always figured to put that on the left face button (X) but I don’t even get a choice on that matter.

For those who want a quick review, there’s a tl;dr at the end if you don’t wanna read all this.

Super Star Path is a half-puzzle, half-danmaku bullet hell game. It inverts the traditional bullet hell formula in that the levels themselves are just as hard, if not harder, than the boss fight at the end, but for different reasons. Having said that, there is only one fixed difficulty, and said difficulty feels just right; It’s not so easy that you can’t pay attention, but too hard as to turn players away in frustration. It should be worth noting, however, that I obtained 100% completion in a mere 93 minutes. The rest of my playtime was spent idling the main menu to obtain the trading card drops.

It’s a good game with good customizability of armors and weapons, but it’s just a flash game. I’d just play a flash game on some website and spend money on something else.

The Short of it: A unique mix of exploration and arcade shooter, Plexus is a fun time with reasonable graphics / challenging gameplay. I liked having a world map, thus being able to select my own path. Good controls.

Really reasonable price too I should mention. I think players will get their money’s worth out of Plexus, as there are many levels and lots of varied gameplay challenges.

Dice Knight: Mystery of the Moirai

Dice Knight: Mystery of the Moirai

If you like D&D, dice & all that good stuff, definitely try this game out. It’s a very fun & fast paced combat adventure. I love the idea that currency, ammunition for your guns, damage, health, & even the difficulty options are all tied together into the dice. The world is full of humorous sites & dialogue. The interactive dialogue with NPCs is pretty great & it feels like the choices you make in talking with them actually matters. Overall a fantastic game.

I think its good for an indie game. Its written in their own game engine and that cannot be said to some bad indie games that are on steam rn, written in Unity and just copied bunch of times.

It has a pretty specific art style that is not for everybody, but it have its place in here.

For what this game is and it can be done in it, I think its pretty good job of the developers.

So where to start…

This is a fun game and I enjoyed playing… Yeah, this game is not CoD, Battlefield or Fornite but who cares. I play this game when I do not want to do anything or when I just want to kill robots. And be prepared that you will die. A lot.

PROS:

  • Fast

  • Old school

  • RPG elements

  • Good game when drinking

  • Wapor mode - WTF is that…

  • Strange music

  • Interesting editor

  • Strange maps

CONS:

  • Strange music

Rogue Star Rescue

Rogue Star Rescue

Rogue Star Rescue is a fun top down twin stick shooter that really shines when it comes to multiplayer. There are a variety of guns, each with a fairly unique feel, to find and use to blast through the levels. The main story mode features a variety of levels connected in a branching map (think Starfox 64). Each different path has a potential way to reach one of the 32 different endings. This coupled with the randomized room layouts, guns, and items gives Rogue Star Rescue a fair bit of replay-ability. The core gameplay loop is fun, and there are multiple higher difficulties where enemies are more numerous to keep things from feeling too easy. There is a whole trap system, but that only comes into play during boss battles at the end of each stage. There is a wave survival mode focused around those boss rooms if you want to focus on the tower defense aspect of the game.

This is a great multiplayer game. I had plenty of fun with friends on this one. It can be challenging but not alright unforgiving. A good game to pickup for professionals looking for a slightly more relaxed time and some laughs, or for a new player to this genre to pick up this style of game.

There is multiple routes, a few characters, unlockables, and difficulty selector for one to want to replay the game multiple times. There was some quirky moments like somehow I’m inside a room and my friend will teleport into the room and land right into enemy fire, or on rare occasions where the door won’t open for them at all causing me to have to clear the room by self. Overall, no too devastating bugs that is a deal breaker. I am sure they will be smoothed out over time.

Check out this awesome retro shooter. Apparently most people have been completing it in 2-3 hours but I’m 3 hours in and only 1/2-2/3 through the game. Gameplay is simple but a little unusual (in a good way). Really have a lot of fun with it!

The best way I can describe this is as a “top down metroidvania” with bullet hell elements. Exploring is as fun as clearing rooms. Retro graphics are simplistic but well done. Challenging and very fun.
