I’m not a big enthusiasthic about danmaku shmups, however I think this game is gonna make me enjoy the genre more and more from now on. Very simplistic but pleasing to the eye graphics, a great soundtrack and a tight gameplay.

I don’t think I’ll get good enough to finish the game on “Nightmare” difficulty any time soon, but one day I might get lucky and destroy the Gnuferno once and for all! 💣🐃💥

its a pretty good and well polished game. the only flaw i have is that you are overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to learn when you start. perhaps a tutorial level where you could try out and practice those mechanics would be good. but apart from that great game. by the way, what engine / language did you use to make the game?

Rogue Star Rescue

Rogue Star Rescue

Rogue Star Rescue is a fun top down twin stick shooter that really shines when it comes to multiplayer. There are a variety of guns, each with a fairly unique feel, to find and use to blast through the levels. The main story mode features a variety of levels connected in a branching map (think Starfox 64). Each different path has a potential way to reach one of the 32 different endings. This coupled with the randomized room layouts, guns, and items gives Rogue Star Rescue a fair bit of replay-ability. The core gameplay loop is fun, and there are multiple higher difficulties where enemies are more numerous to keep things from feeling too easy. There is a whole trap system, but that only comes into play during boss battles at the end of each stage. There is a wave survival mode focused around those boss rooms if you want to focus on the tower defense aspect of the game.

This is a great multiplayer game. I had plenty of fun with friends on this one. It can be challenging but not alright unforgiving. A good game to pickup for professionals looking for a slightly more relaxed time and some laughs, or for a new player to this genre to pick up this style of game.

There is multiple routes, a few characters, unlockables, and difficulty selector for one to want to replay the game multiple times. There was some quirky moments like somehow I’m inside a room and my friend will teleport into the room and land right into enemy fire, or on rare occasions where the door won’t open for them at all causing me to have to clear the room by self. Overall, no too devastating bugs that is a deal breaker. I am sure they will be smoothed out over time.

I’m fairly new to playing shoot em ups (shmups) to actually be good at them rather than just credit feed my way through an arcade game. I wanted to get into ‘bullet hell’ shmups but the games are really intimidating. This game was recommended because the designer is an accomplished bullet hell player who made the gameplay the top priority - and made it so you can use the story mode to actually learn to play a bullet hell.

It’s been an absolute blast and the story mode really delivers bite sized chunks of training and the arcade so you can practice them and learn how to deal with the enemies.

This is the Bluesmobile of shmups. It may not look like much on the outside, but it’s got the cop motor, cop tires, and probably even the cig lighter. Great level design & bullet patterns, a ton of modes, leader board & replays, great shmup tunes, it’s all there. Great work, devs!

NOISZ

NOISZ

It was about time I write a proper Review of one of my favorite Video Games in Existence.

‘Kay here I go.

NOISZ is a Masterpiece.

I love 99.99% of it.

But with the upcoming 2.5 Update, it shall be over 9000%, hahahah funny meme.

Alright more details.

Story is very well-written and engaging.

Though when you gather absolutely all the Events of both NOISZ and re:||VERSE and analyse, there can be some oddities in the Continuity.

NOT SPOILING !

The Origin of it are Plot Twists, obviously.

At least, we don’t reach Kingdom Hearts level of Absurdity.

The description pretty much explains about this game: this is a mix of bullet hell and rhythm game. Now, a similar, much more popular game of “avoid these things that come out in sync with the music” is Just Shapes & Beats, but there’s a fundamental difference between NOISZ and Just Shapes & Beats. Just Shapes & Beats is just a plain bullet hell game that happens to have good music; you don’t need to have a sense of rhythm to excel in it. On the other hand, NOISZ is also a rhythm game. In NOISZ, you can only take an action every beat, which means despite all the bullets coming at you, you must maintain that rhythm in your head.

Beekyr Reloaded

Beekyr Reloaded

I’m not used to make reviews for a game but I guess this game deserves a better visibility! So that’s why I decided to write a short one! A cute shmup with a decent learning curve but where the game shines is when you try the bullet hell and elite mode! That’s where the true game begins! Don’t let the cute graphics get you! You have to learn the enemy placements and patterns if you wish to be able have a good score in these modes!

The game also have a couple of secrets for you to discover and also have a coop mode for you to try with a friend! Me and my friend really had a blast with it! Very fun!

So who wins the reward for best “skill based” horizontal SHMUP on STEAM? It’s a really tough choice between Beekyr Reloaded and Super Hydorah. And NO the award cannot go to a CAVE shooter. The award must go to a well rounded shooter that requires both aiming skill as well as bullet and enemy dodging skills. :-) With that said lets dive into what makes Beekyr is so amazing.

Where do I begin with Beekyr.. Perhaps it’s the fact that this game harkins back to the precision aiming based gameplay of the horizontal shooters from the 90’s? … or maybe its that the game is overspilling with style, charm, and a unique setting? … A big YES to both of those as well as the large abundance of developer love which has been thoroughly applied throughout the game. This love and attention to detail first becomes apparent when merely loading into the title screen. You will see an angry little bee hovering on the main menu buzzing its nicely animated wings. It’s a beautiful prelude to the treat that will follow. So Beekyr’s story is simple. Wasps attacked your hive, killed your queen, and now its up to you to retrieve the pollen and inact revenge on your winged adversaries. To your surprise the enemies of you and your fellow bee brethren are not only winged but land based insectoids as well. Beetles, spiders, cockroaches litter the ground as various winged insects fill the sky. Their numbers as well as bullet attacks increase drastically in size and speed as you make way through higher difficulties (Arcade mode is where the real challenge starts). The score mechanics are simple and old school which is a plus. The main weapon is skill based (no super easy full screen spread available, sorry folks!) and you actually get a larger point bonus NOT wasting shots. A far cry from the most popular Cave SHMUPS in which you continuously fire laying waste to enemies before they enter the play area. The game is beautiful, fun, exceptionally challenging, and feels almost perfect. I whole heartedly recommend this title. Beekyr Reloaded deservers more recognition than its received in the 2 months since release on STEAM. THIS is 90’s skill based shooter heaven.

Great level design.

Too bad it is not translated, but you can still get through almost everything without understanding Japanese

looks liek super mario world.

you play as a pink poo.

idk who this guy is base on, i just figured it was a funny bing bing wahoo man clone. ( and it is ) (( you get a gun ))

English is as follows " MTL main menu, and two button prompts " )

that’s it.

It doesn’t help that the entire intro is dialogue-heavy and Japanese only.

If you were lookin at this, I guess learn Japanese.

Also, don’t use a controller. My DS$ has no dpad input, and only left and right work on the analogue stick.

less than desirable when you include ladders in your game,
