NOISZ

NOISZ

It was about time I write a proper Review of one of my favorite Video Games in Existence.

‘Kay here I go.

NOISZ is a Masterpiece.

I love 99.99% of it.

But with the upcoming 2.5 Update, it shall be over 9000%, hahahah funny meme.

Alright more details.

Story is very well-written and engaging.

Though when you gather absolutely all the Events of both NOISZ and re:||VERSE and analyse, there can be some oddities in the Continuity.

NOT SPOILING !

The Origin of it are Plot Twists, obviously.

At least, we don’t reach Kingdom Hearts level of Absurdity.

The description pretty much explains about this game: this is a mix of bullet hell and rhythm game. Now, a similar, much more popular game of “avoid these things that come out in sync with the music” is Just Shapes & Beats, but there’s a fundamental difference between NOISZ and Just Shapes & Beats. Just Shapes & Beats is just a plain bullet hell game that happens to have good music; you don’t need to have a sense of rhythm to excel in it. On the other hand, NOISZ is also a rhythm game. In NOISZ, you can only take an action every beat, which means despite all the bullets coming at you, you must maintain that rhythm in your head.

Original Journey

Original Journey

If you are looking for a game with a fully-developed storyline, intense combat, and beautiful artistry, Original Journey from publisher Another Indie and developer Bonfire Entertainment has you covered. In this space adventure, you play a rookie soldier of the Ato alien race, which has just landed on the monster-ridden Planet Shadow on a desperate mission to save its home world. To prove your worth, you travel deep into the depths of Planet Shadow and complete missions assigned to you by the Captain and other Ato officers, facing an impressive variety of lethal creatures and collecting precious crystals along the way. The intense amount of work and creativity that went into designing this game is on full display, from the intricate layout of the Ato’s home base to the exquisite hand-drawn pencil graphics. As a gamer, you are completely sucked into the screen and transported to a different world.

Original Journey is a shining example of why I love indie games and support talented indie developers. I’ve had the privilege of playing both the pre and post release builds, and I was astonished on both occasions with the quality of the entire gaming experience. This is exactly the type of video game review I like to write, one that highlights a truly hidden gem.

Description:

Original Journey is a 2D side-scrolling adventure RPG and shooter with roguelike elements. In regard to gameplay, the game is what I would consider simple but not simplistic. The beginning of the game alerts us to the nature of our character and this company of vegetable-like “Ato” who are on an as of yet undisclosed mission in this strange place. The game proceeds very much in a linear fashion, one area after the next, one objective after the next, so it’s virtually impossible to find yourself “lost” and unsure of how to proceed. As we venture into the forest, we find procedurally generated levels with their own objectives/quests, resources and enemies, and each more difficult than the last.

RESTLESS SOUL

RESTLESS SOUL

RESTLESS SOUL! is a single-player comedy adventure game

Okay, then. Let’s start over…

RESTLESS SOUL is an epic journey where you play as a soul who has just arrived in the great beyond and is trying to return to life. However, that journey has caught the attention of the EVIL DR. KRULL and his EVIL ARMY…

In order to escape their pursuit, you’ll need to use your ghostly reflexes to survive bullet-hell battles and rely on whatever help your fellow souls will offer along the way.

Only after visiting all 8 TOWERS to collect their keys, defeating all 8 BOSSES and their NUMEROUS MINIONS, walking across 14 AREAS and TOWNS, and chatting it up OVER 100 OTHER SOULS will you be able to find the portal and escape the afterlife.

Nope, not at all! But we do promise it will be a lot of FUN!

I mean, just look at all these cool features:

  • Enjoy a soulful story full of pretentious and sometimes comedic quotes about life and death.

  • Explore the mysterious AFTERLIFE and unlock hidden secrets as you find your way back to the land of the living.

  • Meet a large cast of “colorful” 2D souls in a 3D world.

  • Master bullet-hell combat with ARPG elements. Use your skills to dodge and shoot at the right time.

  • Battle dozens of henchmen and leaders of an evil army with deadly motives.

  • Solve clever puzzles that might have you scratching your head, but will leave you feeling super smart.

  • Use your phone to keep track of your game’s progress, or take a bomb selfie.

  • Listen to an original soundtrack of boppin’ tunes to rock out to in each new area.

  • Rescue hidden souls, trapped in secret rooms.

  • Special cameo appearance by the one-and-only, Grim Reaper.

  • Pet a talking dog!

Sure did, Woof! Players can expect to see a lot more of you throughout the adventure.

We appreciate you taking the time to check out our Steam page. Thank you!!

Blessed Surface

Blessed Surface

I sincerely believe this to be a great game, and both it and the developer show a lot of potential. From the pleasant music that I can happily have in the background for hours at a time, to the wonderful pixel art of the characters, creatures and environments, to the sublime atmosphere that they all culminate in, I enjoy it all to an extent that I really did not expect. This is an absolute gem among similar Steam games, and the diligence of the developer is admirable.

With the Exchange update, the game is in better shape than it’s ever been; each update from the Overhaul until now has been better than the last, continually enhancing the game and polishing it as much as possible. Combat is fast, smooth, and responsive (just turn directional attacks on,) and due to the unique weapons compiled with the corpse and heart systems, has a level of depth that is simply staggering.

DO NOT BE DECIEVED. THIS GAME HAS EXTREME POTENTIAL WITH ITS DESIGN DECISIONS, EXPLORATION, SECRETS AND LORE CAPABILITIES AND COMBAT.

When you first open this game up it will appear clunky and dislikable. A feeling of powerlesness will come upon you as you’re not even capable of getting past the first tutorial step.

Then slowly but surely you begin to understand movement, controls, physics, mechanics, weapons, armors, abilities, everything. The learning curve is slightly steep but very very rewarding.

One Pixel TWB

One Pixel TWB

2D platform game with minimalist graphics in Pixel art, your goal is to climb the castle while defeating various bosses that try to prevent your passage. With each floor you pass the game will present you with increasingly difficult bosses to defeat, add this to dialogs that portray the history of this universe and an extremely difficult difficulty for the vast majority of people.

To defeat these bosses you have the following abilities:

  • Create Platforms Underneath You.

  • Shoot.

  • Dash.

  • Jump and Duck

  • 2d Movement.

The graphics of the game has a focus mostly on the colors black, white, grayscale and red, in some parts of the game other colors may appear but are almost null.

During the game you follow the point of view of the White Pixel who is having his city attacked, you as a good emperor must stop the enemy and if you have a thirst for knowledge can try to find out what caused all this chaos.

One Pixel The War Begins is our second game presenting this very interesting universe of Pixels, unlike its older brother this game has a much wider variety of Phases, mechanics, Enhancements, Characters and more.

Also the soundtrack of the game is absolutely original of us.

Beacon

Updated Added 3/24/2019

Keep in mind this is a game still in beta phase, so it’s not quite finished. I’ll likely update my review as Beacon continues development.

I absolutely love top-down shooters and Beacon is no exception, in fact, it makes me appreciate them more. I’ve stuck around playing since it was released on Itch. It’s changed quite a lot, such as additions of enemies and bosses, loot areas, and of course all the bug-squashing, both technical and literal. It’s a little terrifying that there’ll be even more enemies and bosses later, which means plenty more ways to die, but hey, mutations are a thing.

Real player with 68.5 hrs in game

Beacon has a nice low-poly artsyle, a pretty good soundtrack, and interesting writing and ideas. It has some weird design choices regarding weapons and enemies, but is over-all rewarding, if not occasionally frustrating due to a few enemies.

The gameplay is pretty typical: you can use 2 guns, have 1 equipment, 1 consumable/held passive, a grenade type, and as many passive non-held items as you want. You can smack things and dodge-roll, too.

The big game idea is that, when you die, you use DNA pickups you collect from enemies and can “mutate” next run… Or you can do what I did and beat it without mutating, which is pretty doable. Mutations change how the character looks/acts/stats and how the character reacts to items and story elements.

In the future world, in order to resist the oppression of Skynet, the underground resistance army sent the intelligent flight aircraft Elta 7 to obtain the energy chip and control the energy source to destroy Skynet and make the world free again.

The game is played by roguelike + demon city. It designs many operations such as weapons, equipment, chip buff, a variety of secondary weapons, weapon protection bonus and upgrade. The main weapons, secondary weapons and long-range weapons are freely combined, with complex and diverse terrain and fierce Skynet enemy.

Graze Counter

Graze Counter

An easy and fun, albeit short bullet hell shoot-em up, but with a twist, this one being that the game rewards taking risks, thanks to the Graze Counter mechanic. It’s kind of an amazing game for begginers in the bullet hell genre and i can prove it, since it’s probably the only one i’ve almost 1cc’d just yet lmao.

It still has it’s own replayability, it being unlocking all the 2 remaining characters, and the other 4 stronger variants, which are sadly just reskins of the 4 main characters (Even though we should only count the two first as main chars, since the other two are from other games of the dev.)

Real player with 44.0 hrs in game

Very cool game. Even only having played the two characters their seems to be a good amount of variety between gameplay styles for the characters and ships. Initially the graze mechanic can almost seem too forgiving, but you will definitely need it as things ramp up in arcade difficulty or higher. I’ve not tried the easy difficulty. Recommend for sure. The dialogue is simple and is pretty much just pre boss fight lines, but its nice to see some little element of a “story” thrown in there without it being a drag, or distraction. Looking forward to unlocking more ships.
