Beat Blast
Nice concept, but boring overall. There’s a few things that keep me from recommending this. First off, the music has virtually no impact on the game other than the speed at which you shoot. You’re going to spam notes in every cell as you unlock them, so there’s no point in finding creative layouts. It’s also clunky how you set up your notes in the bottom left corner of the screen while trying to dodge enemies.
The music is cute and bouncy, but the game visually is incredibly dark, which doesn’t match. There’s no reason to have the “fog of war” aspect, it doesn’t change anything gameplay wise except make it feel claustrophobic. The art would fit better if it was a white background, or if they removed the fog of war and made enemies glow brighter similar to Geometry Wars. The screen can become cluttered very quickly, and hostile and friendly projectiles share some of the same colours so it’s hard to tell what’s going on at points.

A fun roguelike, Beat Blast is one of those games that you throw a pair of headphones on and simply forget the concept of time, ‘least until you realize you lost track of it and today has become tomorrow… The music contrasts nicely with the dark atmospheric theme, the light of you, the player, pitted against your enemies; a quite literal display of light and dark (or this gal read too much into it, your call I suppose). I always dive back in when I see a new content release, albeit in the name of fairness one could probably get all the different items after fifteen hours or so (I like to take my time, or meander about, if you prefer). I’ve unlocked everything but still find myself going back in, and getting occasionally surprised by things like a new alternate boss.

Phoenix Force
If I could describe this game in one word… it’d be…
Lazy.
Look, I wanted to like this game, I love boss arena bullet hell games. One hit kill? Bring it freaking on! Taste the full color spectrum of mythical birds with unique elemental stuff? I’ll get my box of cereal ready! HELL YEAH WE’RE GONNA PECK SOME… oh.
So by boss Arena you mean have tough (high hp) enemy sway side to side with an attack gimmick. Ok…not much of a boss but ok…do they multi phase at least? Well if by multi fast you mean they throw in an additional attack and attack faster then…sure. They have a “Final” attack that if you do enough damage to them you can bypass…and that’s about it.

First of all: This is not a classic Shoot’em Up, because all you will be doing here is one bossfight after the other. There is no real story behind it, and if there was maybe a small table of text in the beginning of the game, I have totally forgotten about it, as it doesn’t matter anyway. This game is about pure action and reaction spread across 100 levels and even more challenge levels (if you dare to try them).
Although each of these levels consists of a relatively small amount of assets when it comes to background or enemy types, they are mixed up constantly so the game manages through this restriction to give the player a completely new challenge on each end every level. Where in between there are next to no loading times, wich makes the game nonstop action and because of that very enjoyable and fast paced itself.

Color War
Long ago the rainbow relic was shattered, taking away all of the worlds colors with it. The shards of color found it’s way into some lucky hands and color factions were formed. And for some reason, it’s your job to help fix it. You play as a cat dude and fight your way through extremely difficult bullet hell style boss battles in an attempt to get back home and out of this strange world. In the process, you’ll make many friends and enemies.
The game switches between a lively top-down overworld to a straight on bullet-hell boss rush type game. You’ll fight many different bosses while attempting to bring together the color shards. There is different modes for varying levels of difficulty, so if you just want some casual play there are options, as well as a very difficult mode for those seeking a challenge.

Will Glow the Wisp
Will glow the will is a challenging little game, but i don’t recommend it: The game’s main issue is also its strongest asset (as weird as it may sound) : the art direction.
Basically, the game doesn’t have any “lines” so to speak, everything is made of moving mesh, even your “ship” is a glowing ball, which makes everything unreliable : walls are made of MOVING cubes, so you can never really know for sure where not to go. I can’t count how many time i’ve died due to a wall square appearing right where i am.

I like this game. For me it is not the kind of game I can play for hours and hours, but it really shines as a nice side-game for whenever you have some minutes left to spare. Or some more minutes if you’re feeling competitive and want to beat your friends’ times! ;)
Loading times are fast and movement is smooth like butter. As you have come to expect in this genre of games, once you die you’re real fast back in game for your next attempt. #FrustrationFreeZone
The soundtrack is nice and suits the game well (ironically the title/trailer song is the one I like the least)

Airstrife: Assault of the Aviators
Nice game with a beautiful hand-drawn world. In Airstrife: Assault of the Aviators, I loved the ability to create and upgrade planes, and the fact that the game can be played with friends. I advise everyone! 10/10

Assault of the Aviators - a game in the old genre. I haven’t played such games for a long time. Previously, such games did not have a co-op mode, which got bored very quickly. Now I saw this game in the recommendations and decided to play it with my friend. We played all evening and none of us got bored. The game has a choice of planes and branches for pumping weapons. Nice drawing of models and good music ^-^

TL;DR: Probably the best twinstick shooter ever made. Why are you even looking at this review? Play the free demo and then buy the full game when you inevitably love it.

It’s a blast, plain and simple. Blowing up robots with the various weapons, powering up your weapon, dodging bullets, lasers and mines, stacking up immense combos and multikills… there is a lot of classic arcade twinstick action to be had here.

I’ve played this game for 25 hours as of this review, but AAC is already one of my favorite games. It’s extremely addictive, and this game caused the first time I’ve ever had strain in my directional key fingers in my ~25 years of PC gaming. It was a subtle ache that felt so good because it reminded me how much fun I’d been having.
The art style is modern futuristic. The music is pumpin' and really gets you into the game. The sound effects are absolutely perfect. The characters are simultaneously cute and cool in every way, and each has their own unique style. I love them. The simultaneously cute and cool style of this game sets it apart from any other futuristic game I’ve ever played.

Astral Gunners
Absolutely fantastic game! Great gameplay, cool art style, amazing soundtrack. At first, pure survival is fun due to the enemy variety and different ways the bullets are used for different types of attacks. Each level looks, sounds, and plays very differently. A few hours in, though, the scoring system really starts to pop. “System Overload” in particular is a mechanic that gets you playing over and over to try to optimize your Special usage and maximize your score. On top of that, there are 5 playable characters and multiple difficulty levels, so even though a single run is pretty short, there is a TON of replay value. As a beginner to shmups, I can say this game is very accessible, and seeing the craziness of the higher difficulties and hidden bosses, I can only imagine this game will also satisfy the real Bullet Hellions.

This game’s lots of fun - i’m gonna keep it simple with, you get unlockable characters, unlockable power-ups that change the way the game plays. If you find the game easy then play it on a harder mode, if that’s still simple then try a power up to change the game play. For example you have a few unlockable slow down options that slow down the bullets if they get near you, which is good to position the bullets for better score. You have another slow down power-up to give the game the “cave slowdown” feel.
