Mandala

Mandala

Mandala in the eastern languages means circle and they are geometric shapes inspired by nature and the world surrounding us. They unfurl from a center and spread out towards the edges, in the direction of infinity. Drawing and coloring a mandala has been a meditative activity since a long time. It lets one explore themselves through an interesting choice of shades which represent a creative stimulation.

Mandala brings forth this experience in a videogame.

Game experience

The game’s rhythm is not hectic, but it requires concentration and reflexes nonetheless: the mandala shoots slow and numerous bullets which move in a rotating fashion. The complex patterns are hard to predict and feel hypnotic. The colors and the music help creating a strong sense of immersion, aided by a steady gameplay rhythm.

Customization

The mandala’s customization is essential: you can choose between various drawings, styles, brushes, tones, themes and music that influence both gameplay and aesthetics. Each game is unique and Mandala gives you total creative freedom.

A linking story

Thin, yet enduring threads link every mandala to each other… like true friendship. Discover the story of Camilla through the pages of a diary; unveil her story by completing all the mandalas in the book.

The editor and social media

When you complete a mandala, it is possible to view your score and be rewarded with various marks, depending on how well you played. There is also an editor in which you can customize the output of your game, export the image in .png format and share it both on social media and online leaderboards.

Main features

  • Immersive, hypnotic gameplay

  • 8 mandalas to color with a pastel-styled book

  • 32 colors and 8 brushes to unleash your creativity

  • In-game editor for sharing your inspiration on social media

PAWARUMI

PAWARUMI

Pawarumi is a fantastic vertical shmup and one of the best of all time. Great graphics, great music, three different difficulty settings with the easiest being super easy and laid back for newcomers and the hardest being perfect for those looking for a traditional bullet hell challenge featuring a crazy true final boss encounter at the end w/ a true ending.

Includes an in-game gallery achievement menu, a Practice mode to play individual stages (and being able to go for achievements that can be unlocked on those specific stages). The game’s three color weapon/enemy color system is quick and easy to pick up on and the game implements the system perfectly, allowing you to score more points, refill your health meter (Shield) and refill your bomb meter (Super). Each stage is really well designed and different from one another, with each section throwing something entirely new at you beyond just new enemy ship types. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun and challenging vertical shmup with tons of replay value =)

I kickstarted this game and haven’t been disappointed. To call it an indie game really doesn’t do it justice - the level of polish is very high. Nice 2.5D graphics that are reminiscent of Radiant Silvergun or Zero Gunner 2, interesting weapon mechanics and a deep scoring system really make Pawarumi stand out among ‘indie’ games, and with just about the right level of difficulty not to scare beginners off. The game has 5 levels each with it’s own unique theme - first level is a snow base, second is a weapons factory set in industry and lava, find the rest out for yourself :-p. With mid bosses and bosses that you can blow bits off to maximize score, anyone who’s played shooters before will be right at home. Only real omission is the lack of a 2 player mode. Definitely worth £12.99 of anyone’s money!

Xmas Shooting - Scramble!!

Xmas Shooting - Scramble!!

This basically is QP Shooting Dangerous with New Year theme and Aru the rabbit as a main character.

This game is danmaku, e.g, bullet hell: there will be a lot of enemies flying toward you and shooting cover fire. You need to avoid incoming bullets and shoot down enemies. There will be some bosses, who usually have much bigger HP pool and shoot tougher patterns.

Gameplay-wise, Orange Juice’s danmakus are much simplier than regular danmaku. Bullets are somewhat bigger and usually easier to avoid. The distintictive feauture of Xmas Shooting (and QP shooting) are formations, which determine direction of your fire. You can choose 3 out of 27 formations and switch between them during the game.

Full review at: https://thegamehoard.com/2020/01/05/12-games-of-christmas-xmas-shooting-scramble-pc/

By having multiple difficulty settings, a mode with saving between levels, and destructible shots that clear away other bullets to help prevent the screen from getting too cluttered, Xmas Shooting – Scramble!! is able to make a more accessible bullet hell game without sacrificing the important elements of the genre. Success still requires precise dodging and the enemies have plenty of shot types that make them diverse and consistently challenging, but there’s definitely a content problem in this small spinoff title. Few stages and most of your shot types requiring repeated plays to buy mean you’ll likely have you fill of Xmas Shooting – Scramble!! before you can purchase most of them, but it’s a fun and cute shoot ’em up for the short time it lasts. While definitely a stranger pick for a game to play on Christmas day, it’s still a lighthearted and colorful way to enjoy the holiday even though it requires weaving through a screen full of deadly lasers.

Do I smell Pizza?

Do I smell Pizza?

Hilarious theme!!

The fat boy walking up and down with his food towers and vomiting on rats while dodging friendly fire brings a compelling twist to tower defense and adds a new layer of dynamism that can’t be found in the original genre.

Recommended!

“Chubby doesn’t share food”, even more, when it’s pizza! This game has so nice animations that make the character super fun. The towers are healthy or vegan food that attacks the enemy (chubby’s family?). You must kill the rats while the towers defend the path to the pizza.

It’s not an easy game, the first level itself is a challenge.

Cheap and fun!

Hyperspace Dogfights

Hyperspace Dogfights

Updated Review:

Excellent game, 269 hours of playtime (with still more stuff to unlock and do; I only have 98% completion, with a new major update on the way (No Masters, that is)!), excellent potential for challenge runs, and, in my opinion, overall a nigh-flawless example of roguelikes.

By the way, here’s one tip that’s very helpful: If you’re being tracked by a homing missile, a square crosshair will follow you. If you jump while that crosshair is on an enemy, you’ll shift the missile lock to that enemy, thus causing it to seek out that enemy instead of you. Using that trick, you can avoid always needing the Flares active to shrug off missiles (For.. maybe 12 hours or so? I didn’t know that, and so I couldn’t drop Flares without dying, or play any other jet, and I’d frequently die because Flares ran out of charges. Then I saw a loading screen tip.)

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Hyperspace Dogfights is a side scroller shooter set in an weird sci-fi setting with familiar tropes and wild cards. Requiring a decent bit of skill of both maneuverability skills to evade fire and using the capability to enter a controlled stall to dish fire at the enemies on your six or to shoot an enemy from where they least expect.

The game takes inspiration from games like Luftrausers but offers a completely different game experience with a level of progression through unlocks for later playthroughs such as new fighter choices with different starting gear or more gear unlocked to come by in later games.

The product is great! However, there certainly are some very ill-manned, inconsiderate folks here who in reality certinaly deserve an ass-whooping!! I, as a Korean, feel a little bit ashamed whenever after getting acquainted with other Korean-friendly players from different parts of the world, ask me to verify what other shitty, inconsiderate Korean players were saying to them while playing online. I completely understand what the heck happened because I, myself, was a victim of harassment, taunts by my fellow Korean here and in other gaming sites and communities. Just because someone does not know your language and is not able to retort back to you in a snap, it does not mean that they are vulnerable retards, people!! It is so much easier to collect live evidence and present it to someone else for further scrutiny and verification.

Game is ded.

English may be the game’s text, but your going to need google translate for the players.

The Koreans will dodge matchmaking and run off to their custom rooms to avoid playing with you.

Have fun playing with bots tho.

Space God

Space God

With only two people they have created a very solid shoot ‘em up game

PROs:

  • Great performance, solid 60 fps

  • Great and clear special effects

  • Simple, responsive control

  • Upgradable aircrafts and weapons

  • Satisfying destroying hundred of enemies, no need to be serious when playing

  • Support for online and offline co-op

  • Fair challenge, very friendly to newcomers, and quickly to 100% achievements

NEUTRALs:

~ Quite repetitive with the same 20 maps per difficulty

~ Only one style of map, some confusing map layouts

Real player with 6.1 hrs in game

Summary: It’s a pretty good bullet-shooting game with some progression. The music fits the atmosphere and the graphics are great if you’re into neon/retro style. That being said, the game does feel repetitive after a while. There are ship/weapon upgrades but it’s nothing special, just increase in stats. There are 20 stages per difficulty and they don’t feel much different from each other. The selection of music is limited so you will hear the same music after a few stages. Overall, good value for the bucks, especially if you liked to play the bullet-shooting games at arcade.

Bought it for $0.10.

What kind of game would you expect which costs less than a tesco white roll?

And still… it gave me ten funny arcadish minutes.

Definitely happy bunny!

Real player with 15.8 hrs in game

Bought it for about ten cents with one of those steam coupons. I didn’t expect much, well it costs as much as a bubble gum. And it gave me about as much fun as a bubble gum.

You have a space ship, flying around and killing other space ships. Half of the features implemented don’t work, and it feels rather bad to steer. It’s the kind of game you do when learning a programming language, and as it was made with unity, it took the creator probably 10 minutes to create. It is definitely not worth the 99 cents, but for 10… Hey, it’s ten minutes of fun.
