Amborettio

Amborettio

Amborettio is an interesting game with a unique story behind it. I was impressed with the details in the backstory and I enjoyed collecting materials to build the required tools for the game. For the price, I would recommend this game to everybody who is interested. The solo developer has completed impressive work with this game at a fair price. I look forward to seeing the future games that this developer publishes.

Noda

Noda

I love 3D data visualization. It really works when the interface is intuitive and you can focus on your data. It’s also amazing to feel the benefit of externalizing your thoughts in a 3D space - the model that you have in your head gets visualized, so that your mind’s eye is in a feedback loop with your real eyes. From imagination to creation, your idea can take form.

Noda makes this process seamless and easy. The visual design of the world and interface is elemental and intuitive, and the resulting creations are beautiful. I used Noda to organize my music library into different genres, something that I’ve always wanted to do. It’s great when you feel at ease and meditative when creating, and Noda is the ideal VR experience for this.

Hi devs !

I bought Noda and immediately spent a whole night on it, working on my story.

It felt amazing, so thanks for that !

Here are my observations and suggestions :

  • My first working environment choice was “Sky only”, but i had to renounce it when i noticed the teleport couldn’t be used there. Could you add an invisible floor to make moving possible there, and in the empty environment ?

  • I made mistakes sometimes, deleted elements, moved this or that and then changed my mind…. I had to redo a lot of things. I don’t know what kind of coding it would implie, but i would definitely have gained some efficacy, had i had a “Ctrl Z” of some sort.

Ramses has been Pharaoh since he Twelve years old and had every day was the same as his predecessors, wake up, listen to a harpist’s song praising him and his deeds, the ritual dressing performed by a special brotherhood of priests, then a sacrifice to the gods and hearing of prayers. He’d then dive into his work of listening to grievances, review reports on the economy, hear diplomatic messages and so on. This went on day after day after day and it seemed it would stay the same forever, until…

Nebuchadnezzar

Nebuchadnezzar

While inspired by the classic Impressions city building games, it would be inaccurate to say Nebuchadnezzar is just a reskin of Pharaoh. The game has its own mechanics that are distinctive such as the beautifully worded caravanserai or the planned market/bazaar walking routes (as opposed to the annoying random wandering of sellers in the Impressions games that required the use of roadblocks). There are a ton of resources in the game and the tiered housing levels have an interesting intertwined dependence on how these resources can be collected.

Probably the closest any game has come to recapturing the old Impressions City builders (Pharaoh, Zeus, Emperor, Caesar etc).

This type of city-builder game focuses very heavily on production and distribution of goods to supply your population, where a mistake in logistics management can cause the whole city to come crashing down. If you’re expecting something more like a SimCity or Cities: Skylines, you might end up frustrated with the strong presence of logistics management aspects and harsh penalties for making mistakes in that department.

OnTheWire

OnTheWire

Sur Le Fil or On The Wire (OTW for Friends) is a game focused on the electricity / electronics, in an interactive and fun way, with 3D animations.

The goal is simple: Have fun while learning to understand the electron, helped by Prof’Fil, your mentor. But, be careful, for a good understanding , Prof will also give you explanations of physics, mathematics, chemistry, mechanics and even history since the game tries to respect the chronology of knowledges.

Sometimes Kelhann, one of Prof’s students, falls asleep and travels through time. You will play it in more or less ancient universes where the villagers will give you missions to improve their daily lives. It’s funny, beautiful, and you will be able to apply your knowledge gained in previous levels. You will have to reinvent great discoveries such as the telegraph, the telephone, the water pump, the lightning rod, the radio and so many other great inventions before you get to contemporary technology.

Prof will also teach you to weld and you will be able, via an experiment mode as well as kits of parts, to manufacture in real what you learned about the game.

No basic knowledge is required and the recommended age for the player is from 13 years old.

For PC, Mac and Linux computers.

Language: French / English (to start)

Super Markup Man

Super Markup Man

A nice, cheap game with 50 levels of HTML, and 50 levels of HTML & CSS. It doesn’t so much as teach you about HTML and CSS, but it definitely helps with making your code cleaner and giving your mind lots of practice to get into the habit of putting code in the right place.

If the average person were to go into this game with zero coding knowledge, I think they would struggle as the game fails to explain what each tag even does. Although it’s easy enough to figure out if you like to experiment.

It’s good, but you could learn so much quickly if you could arrange the labels with the mouse. Moving the character is fun for 5 minutes, after that it’s not really convenient.

Having completed some other free tutorials, what I appreciated about this game was the pace. You can really learn step by step and understand subtle differences. The way levels are built force you to take the time to practice simple concepts and prevents you to “jump” too soon to something too advanced for you.

TL;DR - Great game, worth cost, cute story, addictive.

I played the Demo before the game came out. I knew it was a good game because I couldn’t get it out of my head and checked almost daily to see if it was officially out yet.

The full game is just as addictive as I’d hoped. I’m well versed in these types of management games and was happy that there was a good challenge for me when I wanted it. Would recommend to anyone that enjoys management games.

It wasn’t that bad. Quite a challenge to pass your free time but kinda repetitive if aiming to get all achievements.

It’s drag and drop games, kinda clunky at times. To save time and distance, play on a small resolution window mode (but font will be extremely small).

Sometimes the game kinda unresponsive (boss not initiating next action) but it’s very rare.

Tips: Thieves can be bypassed by putting imps with materials on the room before clicking/initiating repair. They will repair before the thieves can steal the materials.
