An interesting spin on the TD-fps genre. The gameplay will keep you on your toes, and the artstyle, effects, and theming are consistent and quite good. It’s definitely an indie game, and there are a few rough spots here and there, e.g. the controls, tower placement, metal beam in the HUD, etc. That being said, the game was fun.

Side note, the current build is near-impossible. The groups of big bois are brutal and the titans are broken. But I imagine the devs will balance the game shortly

The Good Graphics are nice sound track is pretty sick and I like that they give you an active component with your builder. The bad Minions like killing your towers, you can’t be at two places at the same time and the default paths are a continent apart from each other, you have to actually physically pick up resources which despawn quickly so if your towers are killing things on the left while you’re on the right you’re getting half the resources at best, YOU HAVE TO BODY block to have any form of success, there’s not many tower choices and you can’t upgrades your towers, Minions LOVE killing your towers and some are thicc barely get frozen and are just blitzing so you have to lay sacrificial towers to appease their tower blood thirst, PLACING TOWERS IS HARD the area you can put them is very limited and you have to have a wide gap between your towers which is ANNOYING AS THE WORLD, you only have 30 very short seconds to lay towers while you try to fight with the build mode to even drop them AND THEN you have to run back to body block a path, there’s no wave counter that I noticed or any kind of stat to tell me how my towers are doing whatsoever, The Machine gun tower takes forever to start shooting like it will literally watch enemies run by then start shooting like 10-15 seconds later. Overall I think it’s a neat concept, but in my subjective opinion I can’t recommend it because I don’t think in it’s current state it’s worth the time investment to try and figure out how to win.

I think DT is a great game design. Needs more tune, far from perfect, but with some more work it could be great.

My Gf compared it to poker - half luck, half tactics.

Im mostly interested in the multiplayer part of the game.

Recently the main problem is the lack of balance. Its not rare when one player gets good stuff and the other nothing useful for long turns and loose without any chance. The randomness is far too high in this regard.

We found another problem when a game lasts too long (dozens of rounds). After a while its impossible to finish it in practice. The players get too much rooms and resources and neither of them can carry out an attack combo strong enough to win.

Great little filler of a game with nice innovative mechanics and a just one more play compelling style of gameplay.

You’ll like this if :

You like board games / card games - particularly filler type games

Like simple yet thoughtful no time pressure games

Like building things

You probably wont like this if :

You are looking for a deep dwarf fortress synergy game

Hate turn based games

Dislike random card drawing

This is a turn based strategy card game that would feel right at home on an actual game table top somewhere. A two player game, each player has a set of cards to play in a turn which consist of spells, empty rooms, dwarf assignments and room assignments. Build your “tower” - with a mind to physics, fire hazards, floods et al - assign the rooms a role - to gain spell storage, mana, or more dwarves to carry out tasks and attempt to destroy the enemies arch mage room before they can do the same to you.

Fun game that brings back a lot of great memories! However, right now the game is broken. Whenever I try to “design” a castle, the screen goes black and it locks up. I can’t find anything about how to fix this, so I guess I’m out of luck :-(

The only reason I don’t recommend this game is for this reason.

EDIT: Discovered how to get around the crash. Save a castle or make your own and then load them all out from the saves. Haven’t had a crash since! Changing my recommendation.

This is the first video game I can remember playing as a young kid, it was great to take a trip down nostalgia lane. Castles 2 is a game where you must balance resource accumulation, military advancement, build castles to prevent peasant revolts, please the pope with indulgences, and increase your stake for the title of King of France. I enjoy this game because I grew up with it, Castles 2 is older and does not have a tutorial to take your hand and explain the game, however after a few play throughs the game mechanics and strategy is easy. I do want to warn people that my opinion of this game is biased largely by nostalgia. I do think for its time it is an excellent strategy game but compared to contemporary games in its genre is simplistic and lacks intricacies that strategy game buffs come to expect for exciting gameplay. I recommend this game, but if you are on the fence about it, I would wait for the price to come down, I argue that 10$ for this game is too high. Also hold down the right mouse button to speed up gameplay.

Won game from Livestream. Completed in 12 hours veteran. Replay is for trying harder modes.

Maps are fairly quick; under 30, pause and no save. The game-play, for me, was staring for a bit at the full tower grid to figure out final configuration, then turn it on. Determining the grid before start is the puzzle tactics piece for me. Then, you have some active tasks to manage during the gameplay, which intensify as the maps and difficulty increase.

The active tasks are a mixed bag. Somewhat blah is the tower maintenance which rewards sacrificing towers to mines for $. It’s there to keep you feeling the pressure. But as with the rest of this fairly casual TD, it can largely be dismissed by pulling screen back to keep the whole field in focus and use of hotkey R. The spells I found fun and would take more of those. So, essentially I set my towers, blew up mobs with spells, then saw if I could keep a single one from getting through. EZ

This game is a nice Tower Defense game. The graphics are the best of maybe any TD game I’ve played at least and that adds to the game a lot. everything is very beautiful.

I haven’t played through the whole game so I cant comment on everything, but I can say that this is a solid tower defense games. If you are a fan of tower defense games check it out. The main creator of the game said he plans to add content for free if I remember correctly, some more levels or enemies and what not would of course be welcome and add to the depth of the game, but its nicely fleshed out right now.

i wanted to recommend it yes its a p2w freemium game. RTS mobile port. or for gamers before mobile games. Basicly a textbase rts game with enhances graphics. Wich is why i like it.

And while i understand the pricings of ‘premium accounts’ Going up. in this game Vip account. This game takes it to another level.. a Wooping 50 eu. will get u 28 days of Vip. But to get good return from Vip u also have to grow its lv with points wich cost even more. So. dropping even 100$ in this game a month as much as a full Triple A game with season pass. will still wont get u that far.. The overvalue there game and there vip accounts.. and all p2w items. So any support a normal gamer wants to give. is useless. or not valued. so accept if ur a whale willling to put down literally 1.000$+ dont bother trying. in a competetive style.

So, before you play this game you need, I repeat, need to ask yourself a few questions.

Brass: Birmingham

Brass: Birmingham

I love Brass Birmingham (The Boardgame) and reviewing an Early Access game is somewhat unfair - I based my review on both that it is Early Access and the actual gameplay experience.

1. The AI gameplay is rubbish right now and is far from developed - far too easy (even on the expert level) and predictable - Maybe it is good for beginners to learn the mechanics of the game (I can’t really know since i’ve played 20 + times)

2. The Tutorial was good for an intermediate player that has’nt played for a while but for a total beginner I would draw the conclusion that it is far from enough to actually get to know the game.

Most reviews here seem to be written for single games.

Below are the questions my friend and I asked when we tried to play an online game last night, in chronological order.

Why do you have to sign up for an account for Brass when you already have a Steam account?

Why doesn’t the tab button on my keyboard work as usual when signing up?

Why is there no option to invite your friends, instead they would have to scroll through all available games, to find the name of your game? (good luck if you use the default name Brass)

I feel like it is important to point that this game this is made by solo dev, who has been great at interacting with everyone in discord and is willing to listen. Now those of us that have dipped into the early access games will know that this is something to cherish lol.

Also the Gameplay well let me go into more detail about that, but it is important to remember that it is early access so may change after i write this review but what i have found so far is:

Tower defence - The towers have this kinda Age of Empires feel to them this brings back that old nostalgia i love that! There also is an Arachnophobia mode this is something i recommend you play i wont tell you why, just trust me it is worth it! The enemy ramp up nicely giving a good amount of failure and felt to me like fun Gameplay

This game is excellent for civ building and tower defense gamers. I am a seasoned (72 years old) player of both. The combo of both makes the game intriguing and challenging. It has depth without drudgery. Folks who do not play either of these genres may like this one just for that reason. To me there is a third aspect included - research. Which path should you choose first. There is no formula - one choice may be the best this go round but not in the same sequence the next time. And there will be a next time as you progress from map to map. Deciding how to allocate workers is another juggling complexity. The Dev’s UI design is a thing of beauty. Easy to use, informative info tips and an effective warning/informing system. Whatever your gaming proclivity I encourage you to give this one a try. It is just that unique.
