Table Top Turrets

Table Top Turrets

I downloaded ‘Table Top Turrets’ out of curiosity as, although I play a lot of tower defence games, most of them are quite boring and are very similar to each other. It was refreshing, therefore, to see such an eye-catching and colourful game appear on Steam. I thought I’d take a chance with it and I am delighted that I did.

The game is very fun to play. There are about 10 different levels, each with 3 different difficulties, all of which completely change the dynamic of the game. In essence, therefore, there are about 30 levels. The levels all have interesting track designs and the possibilities of placing down turrets are almost endless. Although the game is not what I would describe as a ‘sandbox’ mode, once you get some experience, it begins to feel this way. With a great selection of turrets to choose from, each one having a different effect on the enemies, it really does feel like you have unlimited ways of playing the level. Not only is this just fun from the get-go but it means that the game does not get boring.

It’s almost a good game!

When you find-out how to turn off the terrible music, play on ‘Hard’ level, and

! refrain from using any of the ‘Beamers’ , this game is….almost not boring!

Oh! And you need to be a HUGE fan of TD games too!

But outside of that: Go for it! You’ll have a formidable 20 minutes of enjoyment!! ;)

Needs some work on bugs, mechanics, and missing materials.

I recommend this game to people who have patience working with incomplete builds and like a challenge. Otherwise I would recommend waiting until some more kinks are worked out. The game has a lot promise. I’ve enjoyed and will continue to enjoy paying it. Below I’ve put some more detailed notes on challenges I’ve encountered.

After five restarts I’ve managed to create a fairly stable colony of over 100 dwarfs that I believe can grow further as long as I can get the dwarfs to live in a dwelling within a reasonable distance to their assigned job. Spreading out clusters of dwelling cells centered around their respective taverns works fairly well but the dwarf AI doesn’t always pick the closest dwelling to live in and when I try to choose specific dwellings I want them to live in they reassign themselves to another dwelling. This means I have the occasional dwarf dying of thirst because their job is too far from the dwelling they chose to live in despite the fact I have empty dwellings available that are much closer to their job.

The current state of this game has a lot of problems, most of it regarding the A.I.

Current Problems:

A.I. Dwarves will spend a lot of precious time idle even with dig spots and tasks needing to be queued

Due to poor A.I. and pathing, A.I. have trouble depositing and retrieving needed items from vaults

Due to this above issues, even with enough mushroom farms, a brewery, and a honeywell, they fail to create the process of beer

due to not creating beer, theres no supply to the tavern, which in turn causes your entire workforce to turn into dark dwarves

Glory of Rome

Glory of Rome

Cute little city builder. So far (scenario 6 complete) it has been pretty casual, a little slow at times. There are some speed adjustments, but everything still seems to go by very slowly. The quests that come along definitely help with cashflow for building and add a small amount of difficulty if you aren’t ready for what they throw at you.

The graphics are pretty cartoonish. The mechanics are straight-forward if you play a lot of these sort of sim games. (Banished, RimWorld, etc)

I dislike the one view camera. You can’t rotate at all. The play areas - even in sandbox - are prohibitively small. Buildings autoface pre-built roads with no option to change the orientation. However, the pips seem to walk through the walls anyhow so I guess it doesn’t matter a whole lot which way the building is facing.

A nice and straight forward sim with pleasant graphics and good gameplay.

The Developer is quite responsive towards suggestions and feedback and has already confirmed there will be big future content updates which I’m looking forward to.

If you like Sim City, here is a roman-era version you should definitely check out.

Yeah it’s released finally and I like this game! To build up my tower with all this different parts is fun and to see how it works against gravity and natural forces is also great. The defend could be challenging sometimes but after a while there is always a way :)

Of course I am not yet through every level but so far I would clearly recommend it.

Cadence

Cadence

Cadence is something different: a hybrid of game and music sandbox. Understanding how to bring these two worlds together has been a quest 8 years in the making. It’s now finally here for you to enjoy.

How you spend your time with Cadence is up to you. Some people will enjoy relaxing with the game and solving levels. Tinkerers will enjoy fiddling with music in the sandbox. The crazy ones will program things we didn’t even know were possible.

Game play

You don’t need a sense of rhythm or a good ear to play Cadence - just your thinking cap and a bit of patience will reward you with gentle zen melodies. Puzzles start simple and build up to complex head-scratchers.

Make some noise

If you’ve tried music production you’ll know it’s intimidating. Cadence’s sandbox mode has been meticulously designed so that “time to first sound” is mere seconds. It doesn’t matter if you’re a composer looking for inspiration or you’ve never made a note of music in your life - Cadence is an entirely new and playful way of interacting with music.

Many are better than one

Cadence goes deep: underneath the game there’s a Turing complete logic system and a host of music production tools for you to explore. What’s possible with Cadence is an open question.

That’s why Steam Workshop is deeply integrated with effortless one-click import:

  • play the best community generated levels

  • collectively learn new techniques

  • show off your proudest creations

I really like the visuals and sound track throughout the game. I really dislike how every character in the story is a piece of crap though the story is set up where everyone in the game knows I’m going to help this old lady and THEY STILL send me on gopher quests that they could have easily done themselves it’s pretty toxic. I absolutely HATE Dave and everything he stands for. The puzzles are about all the same, but can be pretty interesting to line up. I ABSOLUTELY hate the parts where the fence raises up and you have to fight the viruses because if you don’t kill ones in the area before the cutscene they will kill you during the cutscene. There’s no unique enemies during this section of the game even though there are in regular places leading to the most boring time wasting thing in the game waiting for the viruses to float down at you slowly impeding your progress and the flow of the game which is the main deterrent from playing the game again to 100% it. OH and if you fall before you hit a check point you have to do it AGAIN, which is insanely troubling since some times you have to drop down and you can’t see exactly where your dropping to or if it’s safe or not on your first playthrough. The voice acting is pretty well done even though some of the voices sound like they’re in an auditorium/tunnel. Overall I think it’s a pretty well made game and for the most part I enjoyed it

Love Tavern

Love Tavern

I’m not bashing the developers, but I’m giving a negative review for now unless some major changes are made. This game has potential, it is cute, it’s fun for the first hour or so, and the developer does at least have great artists - but if it is kept the way that it is, even once all the planned girls are added I wouldn’t be able to recommend it.

There’s a lot of basic mechanics here for this to become a good Fallout Shelter type game - become is the key word. It is nowhere near that point yet. I actually hope the developer focuses more on the actual gameplay for now and not the h-scene content. The minigames and backstories for the characters are honestly boring and either need completely revamped, or they need to go. The H-scenes are boring and the dialogue is cringey. The voice acting is terrible. The artwork is good at least.

Blub Emporium

Blub Emporium

This game is truly unique, colourful, and bubbly (or I guess you could say blubbly ;))

While playing through this game, the first thing I noticed was the vibe it gave when I was watching the emporium sell, the blubs buying items or sitting down, maybe even playing on an arcade; It is really something else, especially with the soundtrack adding to it; It sounds relaxing and ambient, yet it sounds like there’s a powerful meaning behind every song.

I also find that the factory is super fun! It’s puzzles are very challenging, but very possible; Meaning it has a very nice balance! The Farm has a lot more depth than most would initially expect with how you can harvest items and whatnot, you can even automate some parts of it! :O

Real player with 186.5 hrs in game

I’ve played a few hours and it’s very fun :)

Really cute aesthetic which is a blast to decorate, a relaxing farm which is super therapeutic, and (my favourite) a really interesting factory which plays just like a puzzle game! (with a ton of potential to improve at, optimise, and experiment with).

This game is a perfect example of being worth more than the sum of it’s parts, and there’s something in it for everyone - it’s not the sort of game I would normally play, but so far I’ve had a blast, and look forward to playing more (THERE IS SO MUCH CONTENT O.O)
