Boot Camp Fitness

Boot Camp Fitness

First of all I’d like to commend the developer for putting the time and effort in on creating this program. I used to use Fitness programs several years ago in Xbox and Wii (such as Yourself Fitness), and I have been longing for something similar for the PC. So well done!

Some aspects of the game, such as the interface and resolution feel very basic and rushed, but given the price it is a very good deal.

Overall the game does what it states, as it provides complete exercise sessions divided into three difficulties. You have the option to customize the kind of exercise that you want (e.g. disable strength training, enable abs training), even though this could have been more detailed. Also, you can set the duration of the session. Finally, the soundtrack is excellent and well suited to this kind of program.

I know I’ll get fitter playing this game.

What the hell is a burpee? What is this one handed push-up nonsense? Squats I’m good with, running is fine, jumping without hands above my head is great. Punching the discs is fine. The points system is mad, I couldn’t compete in a points table in this unless there’s a dad-bod mode tiered system for middle-aged e-sport leagues.

This game has taught me much about my fitness levels. 1) I’m not fit enough to complete 30 minutes inside this game with a high score. 2) it doesn’t matter, because even if I do half of what the game is asking of me, I’m still moving and that’s an improvement on sitting on my arse at the desk.

VALVE Index Users:

  1. NO BURPIES! NO JUMPING, NO SHOES, SLOW TRANSITIONS B/W POSITIONS – unless your cables are suspended from above.

  2. Wear the controllers like wrist watches.

  3. Wash/disinfect your face gasket regularly. Steam Support recommended warm water or 15-30% alcohol wipes.

I’ve been playing this since it came out. I love this game so much that, even though I bent/broke my cable, Steam sent me a new cable and I still love this game!

Dragon Fist: VR Kung Fu

First person VR Kung Fu combat against a variety of different opponents, with a variety of different fighting styles, tactics, special moves and back stories.

Defeat the Dragon Master.. and the rest

When a powerful, ruthless master emerges in the world of martial arts, it awakens many emotions. From the ambitious master looking for a challenge, to the wronged peasant sworn to revenge, to the jealous emperor who wants to be the sole ruler of the people, it brings out many people to fight each other and achieve their own goals.

Step into your own kung fu movie inspired by colourful characters inspired by Chinese and Hong Kong martial arts movies across the decades. Whether you fancy playing as an old wise master, or a young gifted female kung fu student, or a shaolin monk, bruce lee inspired character, samurai or a ninja there’s bound to be someone for you…

Symmetric Physics Based Combat

“When you learn how to adapt, you will be unstoppable… When you redirect your opponents energy: you force him to change. So in essence he defeats himself."

Block attacks with your hands or forearms, or bob and weave, push their arms out the way, or move about, how you fight is up to you. But your opponents might use different strategies also, so you must learn how to foresee their attacks and how best to attack them.

You opponents all have the same controls as you, no advantage, no disadvantage. Except on easier levels they will have less strength - they will also have their speed and intelligence reduced.

Variety

Fight in different scenes an atmospheres inspired by movies, like the dark Red Flower Cult, the misty bamboo forest, kung fu school, (early 20th century) boxing ring + many move

40 different characters that have various colourful costumes and have their own special moves to learn and use. Each character has their own fighting style to fight against aswell as a perk and a weakness

So, take a deep breath, make a fist and prepare to battle your way to victory

Election Year Knockout

Election Year Knockout

A really fun Punch-Out style game, featuring funny parodies of US politicians (Crenshaw being one of my favourites and you’ll see why). Each opponent has their own gimmick that’s fun to figure out, and are all satisfying to beat up. There’s no deep political commentary or anything, just parodies mocking US politicians, much like how the Punch-Out games mocked stereotypes of different nationalities and cultures. The EX boxers are all fun, souped-up rematches against the fighters, serving as a really nice bonus newgame+ for after you’ve done everything else. Much like the Title Defence fights in Punch-Out Wii, these are much harder than the original fights and offer a huge variety of newer, more devastating attacks for each rematch that the player will have to learn and adapt to. The challenges in each fight help boost the game’s replayability, there’s 10 for every fighter in the game (5 for normal and 5 for EX) and they can be tough to figure out, but extremely satisfying once you’ve got them all. The roster is quite limited, however the devs have considered adding more boxers if the game gets enough traction (personally I’m hoping for Bojo to get in). I’d definitely recommend if you’re a fan of Punch-Out or if you just like taking the piss out of US politics.

Not one hundred percent flushed out and people who want to complete everything will be frustrated at some mission because you have no clue why something did not count. But for the most part and the main gameplay, this is just gorgeus. plays nice and funny. long and hard at the later fights until you know what you are doing

Fight for that Ball

Fight for that Ball

FIGHT FOR THAT BALL

A minimalistic football fighting 2D platformer with extensive custom maps support. Fast four-player couch coop fun with obstacles, explosions and a bit of fighting!

It is a football game in its essence, two teams with up to two players per team. During play, the primary objective is to score a point by kicking the ball into the opponent’s goal. Actually, from which side does not matter, as long as it passes the two poles. You can fight a bit to gain a time advantage or block attacks and heavy shots on the goal.

You can draw a map in any paint app that supports PNG files. Put it into the game and have a good old scrap on it. Probably the most exciting feature is the custom maps support with its many additional settings for the maps to give you even more freedom to come up with crazy stuff.

Fight for that Ball also comes with Steam Remote Play support, a target practice mode to improve your timing and shooting skills, a couple of team statistics and achievements.

Background

Even if it does not look like much, I started work on that game a while ago. After my friends and I had some fun matches in a similar minigame back then, I thought it would be fun to have it a bit faster and more maps. Here we are six years later, a fast football platformer where you can bring your own drawings to shape the map. I enjoy the wacky ball physics and strange fights, so I hope that some of you can have the same fun.

I’m thrilled to see what maps you come up with. So, please share your maps, thoughts or experiences over in the Steam Community section.

Create custom maps

You can create your own Fight for that Ball custom maps with two steps. The base layer is a PNG file containing the stage colliders. Every part of the image that is not white will be seen as a collider. The background should be white or transparent. The next layer is a JSON file for advanced map options to move and rotate goals, move player or ball spawn points. Custom maps must be stored in “%userprofile%/Appdata/LocalLow/Beardman Studios/fightforthatball/CustomMaps/”. Fight for that Ball comes with a custom map guide. You can find all files in the custom maps directory under CustomMapGuide. Both files must have the same name, E.g. test.png and test.json. The JSON file is not required. The game would load the default positions for goals and spawn points if no JSON file was found.

Stay safe! 3
