Fisticubes - One Button Boxing!
[I’ve edited my review since the game brought new updates. All small edit notes are like this]
Think “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots”, but instead of robots, it’s cubes who bounce around in a retro Nintendo 64-like world. It’s a game with strong arcade roots - you don’t have long cutscenes, no stories, you just get told how to play and jump in. It also reminds me of mini-game classics like Mario Party, a popular franchise back then which birthed many titles on the N64. If you want quick, mindless fun, it’s one of those games. If you’re at home with a friend and you’re bored, you can avoid a dull evening with Fisticubes.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions
In short - Fully licensed soundtrack gets the hairs up when you getting battered, for sure. Overpriced, but great fun. Its polished. (Yep Eye of the Tiger)
In Summary - Still think launch price is high but More depth than you think as all secondary boxers have some attention with dialogue and story. Playing as Luke O’Grady the limited Irish scrapper is very enjoyable and the over the hill ‘El Tigre’ with debt to the REAL Canon Rocky businessmen Gazzo are particularly good fun.
Legends Rocky, Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago get their due attentions too, so learn that Guard and Dodge button.

## Billion Beat
I love this game, the world is always in need of more Punch-Out-likes and this scratches every itch it has, and the music is insanely good.
Only thing that could drive people away is how gross the characters look but they grow on you after a while.
The combat is a lot more 'groovy' than Punch-Out, more rhythmesque, if you will. Feels more like dancing than it does straight up beating the shit out of someone.

Billion Beat is great. The visuals and music are on point. The gameplay follows the Punch-Out formula perfectly: time your punches and dodge or counter theirs. If you make a mistake, your character will take a bit to recover and that is more than enough time for your opponent to mess you up, so learn from coach Baby T and DON'T JUST MASH THE BUTTONS!
There's also a bunch of stuff to keep things fresh like "hype moves", items and even progression. Successfully landing a regular punch rewards you with a bit of energy and you need that energy to dish out the heavy punishment, so you quickly start to get into this flow of dodging and countering to build up your energy until you can finally let your hands fly.

## Punch Club
Ah… Punch-club. A once in a life time time opportunity to become town's boxing champion with nothing to back you but your fists... and your elbows, feet, magic amulets and Chinese Master Splinter's wise teachings.
The game is a strange mixture between a "point and click" and a fighting management game that works better than it sounds! You start as a young wanna-be martial artist in a retro environment and through training and fighting other people in legal and illegal fights you try to become the number one. Two things obviously make this game unique. First, its wacky story, filled with nostalgia moments and movie/game references that most people will immediately recognize, and its mechanics.

Punch Club is branded as a tycoon management game with simulation and RPG mechanics. While that is not neccesarily a lie or a shady way of representing what the game really is, I personally view is as a casual coach simulation game. You are both the main protagonist's personal trainer when it comes to fitness and training, and coach when it comes to selecting which skills should he use in combat or learn as he improves. It is your task to guide him in his quest to become a world-renowned fighter and discover who killed his father and why.

## BoomXR
‘BoomXR’ is yet another boxing style rhythm game of the likes we have already seen lots of times before. Only this time you will be fighting invisible ninjas with punches of the corresponding colour to your fists in time with the music. The good news is the 5 tracks on offer are not terrible and the beat mapping seems to be mostly OK. You can even use your own music, but of course, the beat mapping will be terrible.
I get that £3.99 is a small price, but I just don’t think this game offers even enough content at that small price. Using the Oculus Rift I also found the punching hands off-angle and the gameplay far too frantic to be called fun. There are a few different game modes, but they are mostly all the same. It is not something I am willing to recommend just yet, but with a few improvements (especially to the learning difficulty) I could see that opinion changing.

BoomXR is a Free to Play VR Beat Boxing game. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You have five default tracks included and you can add your own mp3s by making a folder in your music folder, then place them there. There is a tutorial video that you can watch of what you should strive for in the boxing training. You have options to make the game harder. Nice lobby, and you can change the color scheme. The ninjas was a nice touch, and you can turn off the ninjas. This game was paid product at one time, now it is free to play.

## Drunken Fist 🍺👊 Totally Accurate Beat 'em up
I mainly recommend this game because it's very cheap and it's a very unique fun concept with the physics based fighting. More games should use proper physics. There is a sufficient amount of different moves to make it rather interesting. (although I'd add a few more)
However I think it's far from desirable. It feels unpolished / unfinished with many features, such as key rebinding and level select are missing on release.
I also don't like the "drunken" part. Sure, it's advertised in the title, but in practice it means that the game is hard to control and clunky. While some could consider the result funny, I can only think of it as frustrating, as things often don't work as I expect.

**Tl;dr:** Drunken Fist is a silly game that needs a lot of work. It feels like an Early Access title, but it's being sold as a finished product.
The Good
* Silly and good for a laugh* Charming art style
The Bad
* Priced a bit higher than it should be for the quality/amount of content ($2 - $3 seems more reasonable)* Controls aren't always responsive* Lacks something as basic as the ability to _exit the game_ from the main menu* Player character can get stuck inside the scenery

## Boom Dojo
### Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/wTl0PeFFdVA
Boom Dojo is an improvement of Groove Balls, the previous VR music rhythm game from this same developer. Unfortunately, as it stands now, this game is still inferior to the average VR music rhythm game. There are much better VR music rhythm games out there.
There's a disappointing lack of content. The game only has 1 map and 4 in-game songs. The core gameplay is not as polished as in other VR music rhythm games. While you are punching the matching colored object to your red or blue tattooed hand (or optionally also dodging bars) with music playing, the procedurally generated beatmap doesn't really go with the beat of said music. At least you can play your own songs by moving your mp3s to your music folder.

It doesn't look like much and it won't teach you technique, but I actually found this to be one of the best VR boxing punch pad trainers out there. The patterns have just enough variation to keep me on my toes and I like how the difficulty dynamically scales up as you do well. Many of the other boxing trainers I've played force you to break important habits or are too focused on being a rhythm game. I wish this was less bare bones, maybe have an option that adds a little circling footwork and blocking, but it's a good start.

## Smashing Spirits: Brazil's First Boxer
Very good and beautiful game! The jogability is fluid and the ambientation is really nice! It is a difficult game (at least for me) but in a challenging way. Anyway, you can switch to an easier difficulty level if you want, which helps when you are stuck into a part of the game but want to move forward. I recomend!
