THE GAME OF LIFE 2

THE GAME OF LIFE 2

Now, you may be wondering why I have over 100 hours in a game where there’s DLC and a season pass. It’s not about the money, it’s about the gameplay. I don’t have any dlc as it’s just the same gameplay but with different skins.

PROS:

Steal money from friends, bots, or others in online

Have pets (just dogs or cats)

Exploit the economy if you’re lucky enough not to land on tax spaces

You can be single just like real life

When married, it costs nothing and you actually earn money from it

There’s no divorce papers so your partner doesn’t take anything from you

I’ve had this game get stuck three times now right at the end. It counts the money and the pieces just stand there, moving their heads and jumping around. On top of that, all the maps except one are behind a paywall. Had I known I was only gonna get one map with this game, I wouldn’t have gotten it. I figured since it was so based around having new maps, that there would be more than one available to play without paying. Ha. Nope. I bought this during the Steam Summer Sale and it still wasn’t worth the discounted price. What a joke. Greed has gotten the best of this one.

Militia 2

Militia 2

BrainGoodGames make excellent strategy games, with a minimalist aesthetic and a clever system where the difficulty grows progressively when you win. This is a great sequel to Militia, with a nice variety of units and enemies, and two different worlds (one where you use mirrors and lasers). The randomized boards, with all the possible combinations of units, give interesting puzzles. This is very satisfying to find an efficient way to use your three units (not always the same) in a dangerous situation. The weekly challenge mode is a lot of fun: you have one week to reach the highest floor you can with a given set of pieces and try to beat the score of other players. A game you can play for 10 minutes or some hours with this addictive “just one more turn” feeling.

An excellent turn-based tactics game that improves upon the original militia in every way. Quite possibly the best brain good game yet. It’s a shame so few people have played it. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Into The Breach.

The game is very simple but also has plenty of depth. You begin on a randomized board of enemies with three units. Your goal is to kill all of the enemies with stars on them. It’s a constant struggle of keeping your own units alive while also trying to finish off the enemies with stars before time runs out. The game pushes you to make the most of every turn.

I love the 2.0 version of this game. The newly introduced zooming and panning makes this a lot more usable and user friendly than in the first version. I even got the 100x100 achievement which sadly was kinda impossible in the first game due to its smallness. I also really like the non-randomness of the picture puzzles (some may call this the classic picross). It’s very rewarding once solved, as well as the puzzle selection screen when you see all solved and unsolved puzzles.

Very solid and polished picross puzzler, well worth the money.

infinipicross 2.0 is one of the best nonograms on the market. to be fair, there’s not much competition on steam, as most games in the genre lack all sorts of necessary features, and while this isn’t perfect either, at least the developers know what makes nonograms fun to solve.

2D is replaced by 3D puzzles. It is more complicated now, harder to manage and understand all the possible move options and possibilities.

At least Undo option is added - that I missed during the Part 1. But this option is buggy sometimes, made the piece invisible.

Level 14 - this was not explained before that you can rotate the view with your right mouse button. Discovered that the second before I was giving up and planned to look for solution. And the rotating stops working sometimes, you need to close the game to make it work again.

upd: What you can read below is my original review of the first version of this game. I was pretty upset with my first impression which didn’t live up to my expectations, as you can see it. After I posted this review, the developers were fast to respond, and they fixed things I noted here, and I really, really appreciate it. I played this game to the completion and I must say that now it is a good example of a minimalistic puzzle. So feel free to try it and support the developers. Also, I want to thank Raphael, one of the devs, for the answer you can also read below. It means a lot for me, too.

Knight Swap 2

Knight Swap 2

The fight for racial equality continues as green, purple, red, and yellow knights are required to get along to make their way home. Can they trust their fellow knights to guide them to their goals? There are trapdoors this time, so they better hope so.

The Good:

  • It gets very challenging. As of writing this, 12.1% of players made it past level 30 and 5.6% completed the game.

  • The puzzles are actually challenging.

  • The game offers up some new gimmicks along with the old: trapdoors, portals tandem pieces, board flipping, 4 different colors for pieces, and tandem switches.

Not great, but good considering the cheap price

This sequel retains all the mechanics of the first game, while adding 3 new ones which happen to make it significantly harder than its predecessor. These mechanics are:

1. vanishing tiles: tiles which disappear once they are no longer occupied after being activated;

2. linked pieces: some knights have a light on the back of their necks. The light can be in 3 possible positions: top, middle or bottom of the neck. When you move a knight with a light, others with the same light pattern will copy its movement, as long as there is an available tile for them to move to.
