It was interesting to learn about real championship matches and play out why the losing player resigned.

5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel
I played one game on easy. I’m pretty sure I won? I’m not 100% on that… but an interesting side note is that I had 4 queens on one board and that was not where I won. (Although I guess technically I won in all of them? I think?)
For some reason the AI sent a a king back in time after I had it in check in the, I guess, present. Not a great move with two adjacent kings on the board since it made it easy to check it in the past, and that “past” was the first leg of a new timeline so it had nowhere left to go forward or back in time and was blocked by another piece in the adjacent alternate timeline

Checkmate the enemy king with my queen from a parallel timeline, just for them to stall by sending their knight back in time to make the past the present. Then he checked my king from a parallel timeline with the same knight. Luckily I sniped the knight with a random pawn FROM THE FUTURE. He was on borrowed time…

Mahjong Pretty Girls Battle : School Girls Edition
The very first thing that should be iterated about this game is that it is by NO MEANS a good way to learn how to play Riichi Mahjong at all. Don’t buy this expecting it to include a tutorial on how to play; the only “help” it includes is a quick reference to what buttons do what when pressed. This game is basically your standard, low-budget, offline Mahjong software that’s pretty common in Japan. As such, it’s marketed towards a demographic which is already, at the very least, passingly familiar with the game and how it’s played. The translation was likely done via google translate in an attempt to make more sales by cashing in on a Western audience who might’ve watched Akagi or Saki and thought “man, I have no idea what the fuck is going on but this looks really cool! I want in!” In that respect, it would seem that the developers were pretty successful in their endeavour, much to the buyers' dismay.

Pros:
-
fully functional Riichi Mahjong on Steam
-
“custom rules” like number of rounds, starting points, open tanyao, red fives, etc.
Cons:
-
“pretty” and “cute” are subjective. Just a handful of the girls don’t look like shit
-
no tutorial for beginners, not even basic stuff like a scoring table or yaku-list. If you can’t play riichi you won’t learn it with this game
-
horrible gamespeed. You have the choice between painfully slow and way to fast. Choose slow and one game lasts several minutes. Choose fast and the AI discards 3 tiles in a split second. Best thing about that: If the AI calls on a discard for a win you don’t know who it came from and what it was until a cut scene ends.

BOT.vinnik Chess: Mid-Century USSR Championships
For the price, it’s a nice Chess game with a charming personality and nice music and aesthetics. I feel like the tune will be stuck in my head tomorrow. Lots of cool fun facts about the games you’re solving. I only encountered one bug where the text glitched out, but it wasn’t a big problem.

Got the game on sale and think it was worth the $0.50CAD.
It feels like a friend drew a bunch of labyrinths that get gradually harder and harder.
I tried to do a little speed run to test my brain and level 15 got me so lost that I ended up going back to the start by accident! haha
Anyways, the “refined game element” isnt there. The levels are made a bit sloppy, again like I stated above, as if someone drew them. But I do reccomend this to someone who thinks they are smart.
Love the game so far.

So far, it seems everything there works in the game. It has helped me a lot.
After nearly 60 hours, I think I’m starting to get the basics of this game. Once you understand some of the common options for building your hand in a unique way, like Tan yao, shii toitsu, when to have an open hand using Dragon or Wind tiles and when that won’t work or won’t score very high, etc., then you can make better calls about what to discard.

This game saved my life.
I am 27.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand… my working hand… my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide.

Relaxing VR Games: Mahjong
This is a perfectly functional and smooth-running game, but I still can’t endorse it, even under $1. First of all, this isn’t Mahjong. It’s Mahjong solitaire. It runs on Oculus Rift only, as the description states. I thought that won’t affect streaming to Quest, but I was wrong. The two scenes are nice, but low resolution and they don’t have any motion (like a babbling brook that is frozen in time). VR brings nothing to this game, in fact they have compensate for it by tilting the board as you look at different areas so tiles don’t get covered up. That’s not nauseating, but what is nauseating is the HMD only tracks rotation, not movement, so you’re head will be moving left or right, but the world around you doesn’t reflect that. The only options are to turn sounds off (not even a volume controller).

Chess Ultra
Now that I completed the game, I will do an overhaul of my review.
visuals
First of all: this game is beautiful! Which is also quite daring, because presentation via symbols is always more clear. The visuals are just like real life, with also nice surroundings. All this beauty comes at a price, it’s heavy for the computer to run. Installing the game on an SSD drastically reduces loadtimes.
The different styles of boards and pieces are nice, however it’s hard to distinguish pieces. The purchasable pieces feel overpriced. Would be a nice addition if all pieces were presented together for a few bucks/euros.

TL:DR
I usually make reviews for triple-A games only. But I guess every true gamer has a chess game in the gaming arsenal so I must admit Chess Ultra is one of the most captivating of the genre. It is indeed the best looking chess game around but lacking some features required by professionals. I gave it a positive recommendation vote due to its stunning visuals, it is the perfect game for anytime relaxation. So just bear in mind that this is not a game for professionals (and NOT advertised as such), there are better options out-there for pro chess players.
