There are no bad games here.

Champ’d Up is a real treat for people who love to draw, and even people that only draw black and white stick figures can join in and stand a chance. So much unintentional humour - and a lot of fun to be had by trying for some humour if you can guess your opponent’s prompt and make a deconstruction of it. You get to keep your drawings for the next game if you play with the same players, too! Compared to Tee K.O., it feels like a better flow because you draw two things at a time and every drawing is used at least once, possibly more because there’s four drawings and six rounds per person (and again, they can be used in the next game.) Also includes the best part of Bracketeering with none of its bad.

No disclaimer about the fact that I’m European this time around. This Jackbox Party Pack has a Filter for US-Centric content, to make it accessible to the broader audience around the world. Definitely a welcomed addition. You might still note that all of those games were played with the aforementioned option turned on.

Do I recommend the Jackbox Party Pack 7?

  • YES, GET IT AT ALL COSTS!!

Individual game review:

Quiplash 3:

THE GAME OF LIFE 2

Now, you may be wondering why I have over 100 hours in a game where there’s DLC and a season pass. It’s not about the money, it’s about the gameplay. I don’t have any dlc as it’s just the same gameplay but with different skins.

PROS:

Steal money from friends, bots, or others in online

Have pets (just dogs or cats)

Exploit the economy if you’re lucky enough not to land on tax spaces

You can be single just like real life

When married, it costs nothing and you actually earn money from it

There’s no divorce papers so your partner doesn’t take anything from you

I’ve had this game get stuck three times now right at the end. It counts the money and the pieces just stand there, moving their heads and jumping around. On top of that, all the maps except one are behind a paywall. Had I known I was only gonna get one map with this game, I wouldn’t have gotten it. I figured since it was so based around having new maps, that there would be more than one available to play without paying. Ha. Nope. I bought this during the Steam Summer Sale and it still wasn’t worth the discounted price. What a joke. Greed has gotten the best of this one.

Paper Pirates

Paper Pirates

A great social deduction game to play with friends or family. Lots of fun and easy to pick up no matter what age the players are. The artwork is a delight and it has a huge number of customisation options to make your pirate your own.

There are different game modes which allow you to vary the difficulty - scored games adding that extra challenge with secret objectives; is that player a ghost or are they just a bad human trying to max out their points? The daily voyage is a nice way to try out different modes and you can fill the boat with cute bots if you are playing solo. You can earn achievements to unlock cool hats for your pirates and the events change things up including the option of an audience mode for people who don’t want to play . The audience can vote to influence what events take place. It’s a nice touch that really does make this a very inclusive game. Iteration games has stepped things up a notch with the current Halloween event. Who wouldn’t want to play as a skeleton or pumpkin pirate! Highly recommended.

Iteration Games clearly understands the Social Deduction genre very well, and the result is Paper Pirates sidestepping a majority of the problems I find in other similar games.

Paper Pirates succeeds at both being a game that’s simple enough to convince your friends to pick up, yet has enough mechanical depth and just the right pinch of randomness to keep the suspense high all the way until the last treasure falls overboard, or everyone gets home.

Things like traditional mafia/werewolf’s follow the cop strategies, Town of Salem’s vulnerability to mass-claiming, and the rigidity of Secret Hitler’s mechanics in general lead to a highly-optimized “metagame” (a specific strategy that most players familiar with a game employ almost always due to how extremely effective it is) that doesn’t really appeal to everyone, and can be especially grating to newcomers. Not to mention how being voted out in all of the above means you’re forced into the role of spectator for the rest of the game, and the first person eliminated essentially doesn’t get to play at all. Paper Pirates solves this by instead demoting players voted out to the rank of stowaway; you cannot win as the stowaway, but all it takes to escape the dreaded barrel is for another player to go overboard and fill it in your stead. And believe me, plenty of pirates will be getting flung off this paper ship.

Spiritle

Spiritle

Spiritle is a turn-based strategic battle digital board game. You incarnate a Spirit among the 4 elements: Nature, Earth, Water and Fire. At the rhythm of the 4 seasons, the fallen Spirits challenge each other to regain their place in the World Tree.

Although the game seems easy, your way to victory will not be, and you will have to build a solid strategy to overcome the traps and other obstacles that players will have prepared.

However, each Spirits have many unique skills and other way to attack. Pick them and use them skillfully at the right time to counter your opponents' strategies.

Imagine Mario Party levels of bullshit combined with the strategy of Risk. That’s the best way to explain it, & IT IS AMAZING.

This is such a fun and chill game! It doesn’t get boring or repetitive since there are so many maps to choose from and characters to play as. The map editor is really cool, too! The art is adorable and the music is enjoyable. I’m really looking forward to getting some friends playing and trying out multiplayer. I could definitely see this being a go-to party game!

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

This game is beautifully made and very realistic looking. Choice of different male and female avatars to pick from. It’s a fun game to play with up to 10 friends. You can play solo, take turns answering the questions or compete against friends. The level of difficulty increased as I advanced in the game. I also get to unlock packs of more topics with the currency earned in the game. I tried playing online, but was unable to connect to any players to get the co-op achievement in the game. So I looked into the Hub for the game and found friends that I added to get the achievement. I think this achievement might be obtainable with the Remote Play as long as at least one player connects using a controller. The game needs some dialog improvements with the host while interacting with contestants. Voices overlap between the host and some contestant when the final answer is confirmed, however it doesn’t interfere with the game to the point of obstructing play. Is something that the developers will have to fix with an update and shouldn’t prevent anyone from buying it. In my opinion it’s a game worth trying despite the mixed reviews. There are some questions where the answers are wrong e.g., Ryan Seacrest is the host for American Idol, but in the game the answer is marked as incorrect and America’s Got Talent as the right answer. This was a mistake done by the programmer and I hope that the developers fix it along with the other few wrong answers in the game. The price is way too high instead should sell for about $9.99. I wish that in the future more topic packs of questions are added and I can join online contestants from all over the world. The game was released only 4 months ago and it’s available in multiple languages, which is great because in my case I can speak more than one language so I will be enjoying the game several times over practicing those languages 3

If I’m going to be honest, we were sure due for another WWTBAM game since 2011 (Special Editions), and honestly, I personally enjoy it.

Now, I can get with the few sceptics from other reviewers, but personally, this game is catered for everyone who wants a bit of fun, not just fans of the show who knows most things about the show off by heart.

Updates would be needed to improve on the game, but I personally think we need to understand that they’ve at least put the effort in trying to replicate the dialogue of game, as seen on shows, the localisation with the intros, graphics and questions, trying to get people around the world, or in their respective country, to play the game together, which hardly has been done before on online.

Potato Party: Hash It Out

Potato Party: Hash It Out

VR needs more games like this!! This has been fun so far – played mostly with online friends, but planning to bring it out at game nights in the near future (seems like it’ll be better in-person actually – there’s a spectator mode if you want to run it on a shared screen).

Hoping for more VR party games like this in the future :)

Oh this is such a fun game, an awesome party game, particularly ideal in the pandemic because you don’t really need to be in the same room to enjoy it. it’s like charades in VR with a few other added things. It’s got cute characters and ways for people to suggest ideas for the “artist”. I never get over the amazing experience of 3d drawing in VR so naturally I can spend hours on this game. I would love more brushes and colors, I want to draw Mona Lisa in that two minute time :D (there is a Mona Lisa painting hanging on one of the walls too).

Do you love social deduction games like Mafia, Werewolf, The Resistance and Secret Hitler? We do too! But we noticed some shortcomings in the genre. They are sometimes hard to set up and inconvenient to play. Some games need too much room or a big table, some require a moderator with godlike precision, some require to close your eyes for minutes, and quite often the game is ruined because someone forgot to do their part correctly or a newbie player asked the wrong question and revealed their secret. We have built Republic of Jungle to address to these issues and distill the fun of social deduction games into a more enjoyable and convenient experience. Inspired by Jackbox Games, we have built a platform where players can use their smartphones (or any device with a browser) to play the game. This way, the game does all the moderation for you, guides the players throughout the game and adds a fun narrative on top. More importantly, we have unique mechanics specific to this platform because they are almost impossible to implement in a traditional tabletop setting.

Group of 4 really enjoyed this game. It was hard to for some to understand how the strategy of the game goes so maybe this will help

-First phase: Everyone draws a picture of the Titles provided

-Second phase: A players picture is selected at random, all other players observe the drawn picture and create convincing titles for the drawing to be added to the title guessing phase based on what they think the image looks like.
