Armored Freedom

Armored Freedom

Promises undelivered, game is clearly amateurish and was never completed. 0/10

Early access and it shows. Don’t be surprised to find some bugs.

That being said, I really like the game. It’s simple to understand (you can pick it up in less than 5 minutes) and with more polish and a few more features I could see this being a real hidden gem. There aren’t many features yet but I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Scythe: Digital Edition

Scythe: Digital Edition

I’m a pretty experienced player on the board game, so I know what I’m talking about: this game follow the rules quite well, except for a few mistakes (mill that create meeples WTF?!)

the board is exactly the same as the real game, and even if I felt a bit lost cause there is no infos about your mat type except at the very beginning of the game or somewhere I never found quite easily, it would be nice to have the name of the combo ( example : rusviet patriotic ) all the time, to me this can be quite important as there is some combos that are very OP (Rusviet industrial is already banned wich follow the rules of Jamey Steigmaier, crimea patriotic should follow) but those combos should remain open if you play a non ranked game or with one of your friends )

Bought this game during steam sale.

I love the board version. Was pretty excited to test the digital version as well. Here is my review and why its pretty meh.

TLDR: good gameplay, terrible netcode/online games. Don’t bother buying the DLC (Invaders from afar) since factions are really bad and you will end playing them a lot more than people without the DLC. A bit expensive for the experience. Worth it for the $8 I paid during the sale.

1. Gameplay 7/10

Its pretty much the same as the board game. Works very well. It can be a bit troublesome at first to get a grisp on how to make a turn, read the boardstate etc but after around 30 games it feels really natural.

Robo Gauntlet

Fun and promising game. Even though the game is unfinished I had a blast with my friends. Crazy stuff happens when your programming goes wrong and even though I pretty much knew I was going to lose I just had to try and catch up till the very end.

Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus

Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus

Where to start?

This game is beautiful. If you’re into turn-based skirmishes, strategic play, and giant mechs, it’s for you. Period.

Great unit mechanics, a fast-growing playerbase, and wonderful gameplay; for once in my life, I’ve picked up an alpha Early Access that didn’t try to rob me, and that is actually playable, right out the box.

It already supports multiplayer, it has solo skirmishes/scenarios, and there’s a campaign on the way. Well worth any price, and does more for my giant mech itch than most games can.

“No weapon in the arsenal of the Imperium or the Traitor equals the Titan on the battlefield, and a Legion of such war machines can bring any world to its knees. In truth a Titan has only three enemies: folly, hubris and another of its own kind."

— Grand Master Volkus, Ordo Sinister, Divisio Militaris

INTRODUCTION

The Collegia Titanica is the division of the ancient Mechanicum and the current Adeptus Mechanicus that operates and oversees the Titans, but is also more rarely known as the Adeptus Titanicus (a contraction of Adeptus Mechanicus Collegia Titanica). Bristling with massive cannons and missile launchers capable of wreaking terrible destruction upon an enemy, they dominate the battlefields of the galaxy and are a testimony to the consummate skills of the Tech-priests of the Cult Mechanicus. The Titan Legions of the Adeptus Mechanicus are amongst the most powerful military entities within the Imperium of Man, as it is known in the 41st Millenium. Ancient and implacable, Titans are colossal engines of war, massive robotic combat walkers the size of multi-story buildings rightly known as God Machines or God Engines to the Tech-priests.

Neither Battletech nor good.

Hi there. I really like mechgames – be it as a simulation on my PC or as a tabletop-game with miniatures. But in its actuall state the game Techwars Online seems to come straight out of hell. It looks unready – but it is not an early-acces-title. The gamemechanics are unsatisfiing, the tournamentmode is a joke, the controlls are whacky – but they have no mercy for mistakes. And – just in case you didn’t guess it yourselves – there are bugs crawling through the code. I know: somwhere in Russia a bunch of guys have put a lot of effort in that project – I appreciate that. There are to few mechgames in the world. But for example: Why takes the AI the control of my mechs, leves me as a mere wondering spectator and beats the crap out of itself? I wanted to do that! Well, it’s not that bad, because after two rounds or so the whole match crashes.

Besides not knowing what Battletech is or Front-Mission, i find this game fascinating.

The game itself is on early development, not early access, I hope thye add new features and items for further startegies, because this game is nothing else than Chess with giant robots and hexagonal space instead of square.

Now the pros and cons:

PROS:

Very strategic gameplay: If you don’t think twice when you play this game, it’ll be difficult to win, as every action you do will actually be decisive for your win or loose.

WARMACHINE: Tactics

WARMACHINE: Tactics

Short version: Don’t believe reviews older than March 2015. The game is better, prettier, and more stable than ever before. It still might not be for everybody, but it’s worth a look.

UPDATE: August 2016 - Updated spell effects, all new UI, somewhat improved AI, and generally very attractive and stable performance. This is how the game should have released, and more updates are on the way. I can recommend it still.

Long version:

I’ve been playing since Early Access, but wanted to wait until the last of the Kickstarter DLC was released before writing a review. In the meantime, I’ve watched a nearly unplayably buggy game get lots of fixes and polish from the developers, and now I feel like it would be fair to give it a balanced review. APRIL 25, 2015

As a Tabletop/War Gamer in general and especially a Warmachine/Hordes player, someone who followed WMD when it first announced a Warmachine game and a backer of the later Kickstarter-Project I truly hate to say that I can’t recommend this game. The developers had enought time to fix some major bugs or design flaws, but they didn’t. Performance issues are still at hand: if your game kept running for a respectable amount of time without a crash, than that just means a crash is a soon-to-be occasion. Not a “possible” occasion, a crash -will- occure. The UI is quite obnoxious, but usable, and keeps looking like a developing kit.
