The Elm Game

The Elm Game

An abstract board game for two players - human or AI - that is easy to learn yet hard to master, played on a tree stump with beautiful procedurally generated backgrounds.

CPU PLAYER

There are three CPU players to choose from. Or ignore them and play against another fellow human. You can also sit back and watch the computer play against itself (helpful for learning the game).

  • The Fly is the easiest AI, meant for casual players or beginners.

  • The Beetle is a more advanced AI for people who want a challenge.

  • The Snail is the hardest AI, meant for highly professional players.

FEATURES

  • Local multiplayer / Remote play together

  • Single-player vs. computer with three difficulty levels

  • Steam achievements

  • Simple controls suited for mouse, controller and touch input

  • Quick reference describing the rules, controls and some tips for beginners

  • Randomly generated backgrounds

  • Runs on low end hardware

GAMEPLAY

The players Black and White take turns. Each turn a player chooses to either place a stone on any free point of the board or to change the color of any trapped stone. A stone is trapped if two or three stones of different color lie next to it. The game ends when there is no free point left and whoever has the most stones on the board wins.

Blood Rage: Digital Edition

To start off I absolutely love the physical boardgame and play it often which had me looking forward to this game.

Logging into this as soon as it went live was disheartening from the get go as you are confronted with a menu screen that looks like it could have been ripped from an old newgrounds flash game. While it is visually appalling the real problems start once you attempt to play it.

Cons:

-out of an attempted 12 multiplayer games that I hosted 9 froze during the first god’s gift phase, one froze during the second age god’s gift phase, and another froze as soon as the last province was pillaged in the 3rd age, leaving me with only one multiplayer game that was able to be played through fully.(Don’t comment on your lack of frozen games if you are only playing single player, multiplayer functionality is near nonexistant.)

First of all, I have the board game with a few expansions. And joined the kickstarter, so I’m actually a backer of this digital project.

-The beta period lasted for 3 weeks. Finished right at the beginning of the lockdown.

-The project was then abandoned till the Ankh kickstarter finished. We did not have any news for months, but 24h after the Ankh kickstarter finished, we got news.

-This digital Blood rage was expected to be released in December 2019. It’s been almost 6 months.

-The game was launched on May 27th and everyone got access but we - the backers - had to wait for hours to get access.

Little bugged, but very playable. If you like table top version you will get your fix of GOT with this one. Money not wasted.

Dragon Castle: The Board Game

A very good adaptation of a board game. You pick tiles (in a way similar to mahjong solitaire) and place them on your own board to form sets of the same color (there are other elements, but I will not detail the rules here). The presentation is nice with a practical interface. The game has a good variability with different layouts and advanced features that can be mixed in different ways (new objectives and actions). The solo mode, against AI, is a good way to learn the game. The hard AI is correct, but not as good as an experimented human player and could be improved. The game works very well for local multiplayer (no hidden information) or for online multiplayer. The matches are not very long and the atmosphere is relaxing, so an excellent quiet strategy game to play for twenty minutes or for multiple matches.

Aesthetically pleasing, coincidental Mahjong solitaire with the added twist of building within limits, this game loses a bit without the kinetic tile movement but nothing is lost in terms of the tactics, art and concept of the board game. If you prefer a low conflict, Asian inspired game this is a winner.

FlightChess

FlightChess

When it comes to flying chess, do you remember the fun times you had with your friends on the board? Now you can play online with your friends in the classic and soon the new prop mode!

Flying Chess includes both classic and prop modes, and supports both single player AI and LAN multiplayer modes. The game has four different colored aircraft camps for players to choose from, easy to understand rules, simple and fast operation, and the exact same gameplay as you remember from your childhood, making it a great choice for many casual players!

Galaxy Trucker: Extended Edition

Galaxy Trucker: Extended Edition

I’d recommend this game but with a few caveats. I’d encourage the developers to patch it with a couple of things:

Some of the missions are buried in the game in a way that could have just little more convenience built in to finding them. There are even dialogue boxes that say for the player, “I thought I was done with the campaign.” Kind of cute. Mostly irritating.

The more difficult missions, especially the big race, are so difficult that they are likely to be redone. Please don’t make a player click fifty times through the same flavor text every single time the mission is reset. That’s a mid-90s rookie mistake in any game design–like the long cut scene that can’t be skipped. Do it once, give us our laugh, and then let get about the business grinding away at a nearly impossible mission.

Great, great conversion from the board game. This is one of those board games that was looking for the perfect digital adaption and they nailed. I only wish they didn’t TAKE SO LONG to make it playable on my OS, and that my version wasn’t still in the habit of making all my options on the home screen come up with a question “Do you want to quit?”. That is some serious glitch. Every time I come back to the home screen I’m forced to quit the game if I want to do anything because I have to restart it to use any option on the homepage. Other than that the game is free of glitches, and just excellent on every level. I want different musical options too, though I’ll probably not use any of them much. Another expansion would be good too, but the included one still has me busy :)

The Jackbox Party Pack 3

The Jackbox Party Pack 3

This pack is my Close 2nd Favorite Jackbox Party Pack, with Party Pack 2 being #1. The trailer is right, this pack is truly INSANE. From Designing Custom T-Shirts, to Trying to stay alive while answering trivia questions, to answering silly prompts such as “An item on every pervert’s grocery list”, this pack is bound to thrill you, make you laugh, and get hours of fun worth! This pack is definitely worth all the money! This pack is home to Fakin' It, Quiplash 2, Guesspionage, Trivia Murder Party, and Tee K.O.

Since there are 5 party games in one game I’m going to be reviewing them all and thankfully for me, I have tried out all the games whether that be sacrificing my friends' time to play some of these games or playing it with my family members.

Let’s first start off with Quiplash 2: Whether it be family members, college mates or steam users this game is crowned as the best thing in existence. This just like the first predecessor is really fun and enjoyable, there are lot of new things that haven’t been introduced in the first game, such as the fact that you can create your own prompts, I have so far 2 episodes I made with a lot of crazy prompts such as “help! A gargoyle stole my cheese pizza”. There’s also new weird characters that you randomly play as such as a weird turqoise cat or a gray vampire coffin or a yellow (demonic voiced?) star. They also changed The Last Lash level, instead of getting a prompt you’re given either an acro prompt, a comic prompt or a word prompt and not only that players award the answers in medals so that is something new.

Bingo Hall

Bingo Hall

I was in need of finding a place to play my favourite game Bingo. This is the best hosting place for it. My only recommendation is that we don’t need to make a new lobby everytime we want to go back to the online lobby to change the number of cards or the pattern. Other than that 10/10.

Thank you! 3

Great experience for playing bingo. Use this for family and work events.

Like the online play. People can join with the room code and play with their phones / computers.

You can also play with physical bingo cards.

Charterstone: Digital Edition

Charterstone: Digital Edition

Pretty darn nice implementation of the board game. I have played the campaign once in real life :) I have finished one campaign with this program against 5 AI opponents. My second campaign got really wonky screwing up rules and end of game choices. I think I might have hit some less major bugs in my first campaign, but I don’t know if I just wasn’t paying enough attention or wasn’t clear on various rules.

Sooo, It is good and it is fun. The developers are already patching the game that was obviously released a bit too soon. But they ARE patching.

Real player with 94.0 hrs in game

Halfway in the campaign. and while somethings are nice it is a mediocre worker placement game as you are building the worker placement yourself…

this happens by what is available to you and since you can’t choose specific buildings it is a hit or miss.

SO my main issue is that there isn’t a way to build your own custom map. Or at least i can’t find it. That would have been fun tinkering with it and see if you can outdo some of the maps allready in there. Can’t believe the bottom one was approved. that was just no fun. have to test the others.
