Present for Manager is a simulation of a board game similar to Monopoly. It’s easy to learn. The AI is quite good, but I recommend local multiplayer for the true board game experience that tears families apart. ;D

Descent: Road to Legend

Descent: Road to Legend

Disclaimer – This is a companion app for a board game, not a standalone computer game.

Only way I play descent. This version I like better than Android. Pretty effective tool to get you to buy expansions. Not sure how much replay value there will be to the main campaigns unless you buy more expansions to descent.

Although, this app makes the game playable for my crowd that vastly prefers co-op. I can’t imagine that ladygrill would play against me as overlord. My cousins would get sick of getting stomped on. No one else would volunteer to play OL except maybe the lady’s brother. This game would be collecting dust if not for this app.

It introduces a lot of reading and turns out the game pace slow since you have to read and do the Overlord actions. You have to be honest and make the best decisions to the Overlord.

The monsters are overpowered, every single monster groups has changes to its powers and are difficult to kill.

The monster respawn is very fast.

To enjoy the best with this app you have to rush to the quest objective, ALWAYS. Most of the time if you decide to go after the search tokens, many monsters appears back to the table.

Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game

Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game

Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game is set in the Dresden Files universe, with characters and plot mechanics from the books becoming cards that work for or against you. Each book is its own set of obstacles, advantages, foes and cases that become the board that Dresden and his allies try to overcome.

If you are the kind of player that runs away from a challenge because of a bloody nose, Dresden Files is not for you. You will lose in the beginning, a lot. I know I did. To win takes elements of both skill and luck, like any other game with cards and dice. However, it seems the more I play, the luckier I get … hmm, that could be the skill factor of being able to recognize the better plays to make and better risks to take.

This is very much a Marmite game, you’ll either love it or hate it with equal measure. For me its a winner, a game I can turn on anytime I have a few minutes to kill and don’t want to be bogged down in something more involved. and if you’ve played this game in its real world form you’ll appreciate all the Automation this digital rendition brings.

Pros: Its nicely put together and contains all the characters a Harry Dresden fan could wish for the mechanics of the card battles are easy to learn but difficult to really master which makes each victory one to be savored.

Mysterium: A Psychic Clue Game

Mysterium: A Psychic Clue Game

I review only the video game not the game itself which is very creative and more interesting than the classic Cluedo

The game is made for tablet, with an interface tactile friendly and big icons. Unfortunately for PC, that’s not user friendly : drag and drop mechanism, no tool-tips (!), scrolling is sometime very very slow, the color code for identifying the characters is too subtile, many space wasted due to a layout not optimized for our big screen, some small icons could help identify who does what, who received what, who did what etc

I’ve had a lot of fun playing this game, but at this point, I’ve experienced too many game-breaking glitches to feel comfortable leaving a positive review.

I purchased this game after playing and enjoying the physical version. The bots are smart enough to fill out a game with too few players without it being particularly noticeable, but feel a bit predictable after too many solo games. Pass-and-play is an option if your friends don’t own a copy, but if you intend to play primarily in-person, a physical copy of the game is likely the better choice. The lobby tends to be a bit quiet, so I’d really recommend finding a few friends that own a copy for maximum enjoyment.

Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Legends of the Alliance

Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Legends of the Alliance

Great companion app for the board game, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and find it pretty easy to use. Be kind of nice to have an undo button though, I have accidentally defeated groups and had to try and remember how the app sets them to work. I have run the app on a smart phone, laptop and tablet and found it worked most consistently on the tablet. The Laptop version for me black screens from time to time while loading and requires a full restart to work.

I struggled to find people to play the proper game with so this companion app has been brilliant for playing the game and I have had so many epic moments, including one that felt straight out of Rogue One.

Years after the launch of the core box (it’s now 2020), I’m still amazed at the value I continue to get from my investment in Imperial Assault. Right out of the core box, you get campaign mode, one-off missions, 1v1 skirmish mode and the awesome app mode — Legends of the Alliance — where solo gaming is not only possible, but handled beautifully. The rule set is efficient and tightly integrated across all modes making it an easy transition from mode to mode.

For those tabletop gamers who are wary about app-driven games, let me assure you that Legends of the Alliance doesn’t drive the game at all. This is no video game version of the tabletop game you love. You are firmly in the driver’s seat. You still need to set up your table with all your puzzle-piece map tiles, tokens, components and minis. You still roll dice and track all of your damage and conditions. The app is there primarily to provide you with narrative, instructions for which map tiles you’ll need, and choices for mission sequence. But you, the player, control the pace and outcome of the game. The physical game still dominates. You will move your heroes, attack enemies and then tell the app the outcome. The app will then adjust the story and tell you what to do next to continue your campaign.

Dead Exit

Dead Exit

Received a steam key for Dead Exit from DadsGamingAddiction after his gameplay video and I gotta say, Well done devs! Well done indeed!.

TLDR; Worth it.

–——————–

A thoughtful, strategic card game that I’ve enjoyed and am sure others will as well. This game has provided plenty of hours of fun and will most definitely provide even more, especially if you’re a completionist and you’re the type to strive for achievements.

I’ve still yet figured out a strategy for Impossible mode, (and admittedly have pulled out many hairs along the way), although trying to come up with working combos from the cards you were dealt with is quite enjoyable! The deck in your hand, city and discard pile are constantly changing via your choices and/or RNG so having a specific set way of beating the other modes doesn’t always apply.

Dead Exit is a tactical card game, with zombies.

It can be played single player or multiplayer (online and local).

However you are playing, the basics remain the same. You must defend your base from zombies, trying to stockpile enough resources to escape before you are overrun. You get 3 actions per turn, which may seem like plenty but will soon run out. You can play survivor and vehicle cards inside or outside your base, or even sacrifice them for different results. These cards remain in play (unless killed / stolen / etc) so can be used again and again. For example, you’ve played a survivor to kill an undead that was outside your base. Want to do the same again next turn? You can but returning the card to your hand before playing it again has used up 2 out of 3 actions for your turn, so you’d better know what you plan to do next. You can use an action to draw a face down card, but doing so will bring a dead along with it. Other cards can be played as one use only action cards, getting to retrieve a card from the trash or revealing a face down card etc.

Flash Point: Fire Rescue

Flash Point: Fire Rescue

This game simulates the board Game of the same name which simulates fire fighters working together to control a fire in a house all the while rescuing victims. I really enjoy coop board games and this one is a fine example of it. The port to electronic game is very well done but it does require one or two games to get used to the way things are done. There are also a few options from the board game that I had a bit of difficulty finding and using properly. After a fee games, I got the hang of it.

I’m deep into the board game hobby, and Flash Point is my favourite cooperative board game, so I was really looking forward to this release. Played 1.0.1.

This is my favourite video game based on a board game. Most are obvious mobile ports, that can be fine too and I’ve bought some since they’re priced pretty cheap. The developers made a proper video game here, and it’s priced appropriately – and fairly, in my opinion. The game has a lot of polish and feels like a step up from other board game ports.

Gloomhaven

Gloomhaven

Need a break from the endless grind of looter-shooter games or from the stress of endless pvp?

Well look no further, because Gloomhaven has got you covered.

Gloomhaven is a turn-based strategy rpg that can be played solo or co-op. You work together as a team of mercenaries adventuring through dungeons and saving the city of Gloomhaven from evil (or maybe not.. depending on your choices hehehe).

It plays like a classic roleplaying game, such as pathfinder, or Dungeons and Dragons. This is a digital adaptation of a board game and offers both the full campaign with 95 quests from the original game as well as a new guildmaster mode with 150+ unique quests and some new bosses. There are 17 playable classes, with 6 starters and 11 that you unlock as you progress through the game.

Real player with 1123.1 hrs in game

So let me start this review by saying that yes, I do own the board game. I have a 178 hours into Gloomhaven, most of which I accumulated during Early Access playing the Guild Master mode. I am currently playing the campaign mode, and I have done the bulk of those hours, outside tutorials, in multiplayer.

I love this game.

So if you’re either struggling to work with a 20+lb board game and keeping a steady gaming group going, for me the challenge is my gaming group is almost always 5 people which is one too many. For reference, I do play a lot of board game digitally, Through the Ages, Carcassone and Ticket to Ride, to name a few. I also love Zombicde, Hero Quest (got the new edition this week), Vindication and 7 wonders to name a few physical games.

Business Tour - Board Game with Online Multiplayer

I love this game. But as Monopoly stands right now, I have to give the game a negative review. For a multitude of reasons. (The only good thing is Thank-God it’s basically a FREE game)! But the negative reviews DON’T LIE!

Bottom Line Issues:

1. The disconnecting issues have been brought up by many, but never fixed. The BS ‘Hotfives’ did absolutely nothing.

2. In the beginning of the game, you still land on Milan. And then Sydney…and so on. This was brought up by many, but never fixed. Once, maybe twice have I ever found this to be different…And when so, 1st roll lands on Lost Island…What a Treat!

  • You are able to play with your friends for only 24 hours (except 2v2 against randoms), after that you gotta subscribe for $1 a month. bullshhhhhhhht

  • Queuing with a friend means nothing - most of the time you play 2v2 against the friend you queued with

  • It’s P2W

  • If a friend disconnects due to some issues, he cannot reconnect

also.. wtf are those bots AI :-D my friend disconnected due to internet connection problems, her bot jumped on chance - give up a city to opponent. well guess which city the bot gave to the enemy team? ofc the one who was worth the most and had hotel, which lead us to lose.
