Beyond a Total Loss

Just finished the the game and really enjoyed it, there are many details and a lot of effort was put into it. It was a great old school adventure with some interesting twists and funny dialogues. If you are not sure, there is a demo.

Beyond a Total Loss is good.

It’s about what you’d expect it to be based on the visuals, and is more or less what I love about indie games.

A quirky story about a man who ends up going through a series of unfortunate events.

Cute Things Dying Violently

Cute Things Dying Violently

To preface this, I won this on steamgifts.com.

Cute Things Dying Violently is a simple puzzle game that doesn’t offer much to the players in

the form of complexity. The basic mechanic is very similar to Angry Birds, where you “flick” “cute” things into a door… their homes? It relies on it’s violence to try to grab the player with crude humor about bloodshed and destruction.

The core gameplay was way to simple and it became grindy and repetitive rather quickly. It did teach me a very valuable lesson about reading and playing through tutorials. You should always complete them and read them thoroughly. Anyways, I would say it is 2/5. Not worth your time in my opinion.

Death By Buzzsaw

Cute Things Dying Violently is a game where the player may choose to rescue cute critters. These are the types of critters that one would expect to find wandering around aimlessly in a flower bed, through grassy planes, or even in a lightly wooded forest area. However, as I said, the player has a choice, and that choice may lead the player into causing a certain and painful death. Either intentionally, or even quite possibly accidentally. The player may choose to throw these critters onto spikes, into fire hazards, within a bolt of lightning, cause death due to falling, or the player’s choice of small to large buzzsaws can be utilized as well. I really think the developer watched one too many “Saw” movies.

Holy cow, this game is my aesthetic. I turned off the pixelation; as fun as it is, it’s difficult to deal with the entire time. This game isn’t scary as much as it is a weird B-movie with occasional jump scares. I love the ambiguous storyline; this being a relatively small community it’s got a lot of mystery in the world and gameplay.

It has a lot of personality and the devs continue to do a good job in updating it. It’s a survival rogue-like at heart; you have to make decisions as to how you’ll survive, and there isn’t a lot of room for equipment. Dying can be discouraging, but (at least in easy mode) you can go through the entrance of the biome you died in and pop back into the level you were just at. There’s really not a whole lot to it once you understand what’s going on. It’s just a fun, addictive game.

Your guys review this game only 5/10 in positive? HAHAHA.

But it’s such a silly fun game. 24 levels of massive zombie mass Cleaving with a massive Cleavage blond that holds a massive cleaver. It took me barely 2 hours and quite a few deaths and retry before I finally finished the game. (only after finishing the game, I discover a place to change game difficulty).

Game is semi repetitive but with twisted challenging fun, semi ok zombie sound effect with a few types of different back ground music. As long as your reflex is ok and don’t die too much this game shouldn’t be that bad. There are plenty of bad games on steam that couldn’t even do a decent walking simulation.

This game is amazing! It is a pretty short game, and it can be beaten in only a couple of long sessions. Frankly, I couldn’t really see anybody playing this in many short sessions, as it is a very grind-y game, however, if you often find yourself having long chunks of time in your day, this game is a nice way to fill that time.

Urban Mage

Urban Mage

Urban Mage is an action simulation game where you get to be the powerful mage, with the ability to cast fireball after fireball and cause chaos and destruction. The time is the 21st century, the place is a quiet small town. Your goal? Kill them all!

Play as a raging mage in a modern environment and catch all the citizens before the cops arrive and arrest you. Or kill the cops as well. Destroy the town. Don’t forget to look inside the houses. Find everyone. Jump on roofs, dash through the streets and use all your powers.

Be aware though that even you are not invincible and the cops have powerful weapons you are not familiar with - guns.

Features:

  • action combat system and fast-paced gameplay as well as the possibility to play as a subtle stealth ninja-mage!

  • blood, blood, and more blood - don’t play the game if you are weak on your stomach!

  • stylized and beautiful art style - it is a joy to look at it, at least until you spill blood everywhere

Coming up soon:

  • different play modes including the open-world experience, timed arenas, and unique challenges

  • various difficulty settings and modifiers to tailor the game for you

  • Steam achievements and leaderboard - because everyone wants to be the best

What will probably never come:

  • story mode - who needs a story when one can be a mage … and create your own violent story!

Ahh yes… I remembered that one time when I was at the Steam Winter Sale of 2019 and found this after playing Cute Things Dying Violently… I just wishlisted that game because it looks interesting, and had a cute little muffin. But when I watched the trailer on the Store page once… It was violent… really violent… it’s like Sausage Party, but in a video game. I liked eating Chocco’s heart… yum ^_^

But the only boss I hate was Milk Man. I’ve practiced and dodged a bunch of obstacles… but the worst obstacle on this game… were triple egg beaters! I’ll get him next time… soon!

I love this game. The art, animations and vfx are all super well done. The deaths and voice lines are hilarious. The gameplay itself is really challenging and addicting. I really love the customization of the character and how there’s new sound effects and animations depending on what you equip.

Well worth the $5, very good replayability..

Fix Me Up Doc! – Dark Humor

Fix Me Up Doc! – Dark Humor

An interesting unique game with funny, weird patients.

Like the art style and the operations and unique tools, however Iam finding it stressful, my patient dies way too quickly before I can finish the surgery, no matter how many times I try, I guess Iam not fast enough and making just 1 mistake every time seems to mean a fail.

I like the game but am not sure if I can recommend as it’s really frustrating me and doesn’t feel fun anymore as it gets too hard past the 7th patient.

After 3 hours the game is too frustrating which is not very long. So I can’t recommend.

Real player with 3.3 hrs in game

What is this game? It’s a blatant Trauma Center knockoff with a hilariously broken English translation. If you’ve never played one of those, they’re games where you perform gamified surgeries on patients. This game does the same, but it’s extremely ridiculous and nonsensical. For instance, when you want to keep the patient alive longer, you inject them with ketchup and you often have to replace major organs with a sausage, which also doubles as a pimple popper. Most of the game is funny and entertaining enough, but the difficulty, much like the game it’s mimicking, becomes ridiculous. I’m stuck on level 9 because if you make one, single mistake at any point, you basically just lose. That’s right, you have to do it not only perfectly, but quickly. There are only 10 levels and I’m practically certain I’ll never see the last one. The game’s length is padded by the obnoxious difficulty, so there isn’t much value here at all. I was mostly amused by a lot of it, but I cannot recommend it.

Jiangshi x Daoshi

Jiangshi x Daoshi

I absolutely love this game! It uses a refreshing mix of static avatars & backgrounds, with frequent animation and motion comic action panels reminiscent of Dead Leaves. This gives the game an extremely dynamic feel, which makes up for the lack of choices. Like many Visual Novels, heavy emphasis is on the word Novel, as such, interaction in this game is mostly limited to hunting for words that the in-game hover-dictionary may explain for you.

Jiangshi X Daoshi boasts a rich story packed with fantastic Chinese mythology/historical information, with a wholesome dynamic between the main characters.

Please be mindful that this is the censored version uploaded to steam.

I wish to bring awareness to this. Apparently this VN was banned upon submission because of certain scenes and they’ve fought tooth and nail the bring it back for us to enjoy. Bans usually mean end of the line for most games from what I have heard. I’ve went back in to check most of these scenes and they aren’t even close to becoming questionable. Maybe my judgement is affected by playing too many terrible raycast engine maker games lately, but I don’t think this game deserves all the flack it’s getting in the reviews section here. Yes, it has problems, but for the price (especially on sale) it’s a decent classic Quake-wannabe FPS shooter.

The Good:

  • classic Quake-style gameplay (though not nearly as good as Quake itself obviously)

  • no ammo cap for any of the guns, unless it’s 999 or something which I’ve never reached

  • no weapon reloading, though some guns have recoil that gets worse the longer you hold down the fire button which is fine
