Blood: Fresh Supply™

Blood: Fresh Supply™

Of the holy trinity of Build Engine games BLOOD is arguably the best one!

TL;DR: BLOOD is fast, intricatly designed, extremely fun to play, and also really hard. The Level Design is great and the maps flow into each other seamlessly. The Enemy Design is perfect, each enemy type is distinguishable and requires a different approach, which leads to an infinite amount of possible and engaging encounters. I recommend this game to anyone with an ounce of appreciation for FPS games.

BLOOD is my favourite FPS game of the 90s and one of my favourite video games in general. It may not be as influential as Doom or Quake, but it has a special place in my heart due to its charm.

Great game but needs a few things that might and might not make the game better but just before I say them it’s a great shooter I love the retro style I really wish most games that are being made could have an option or be set to retro automatically and you can’t change it

The list

  1. Multiplayer) any good game needs multiplayer

  2. savegame option) I would really like to save my game (this might be added without me saying it)

  3. ther is nothing else lol that’s all I can think of atm solid game

The absolute bare bones of an experience are here.

The shooting is alright. There are “power-up” weapons with limited ammo you pick up. They are okay, maybe even kinda cool. The movement feels slow, but that’s mostly an issue when you are running around cleared rooms etc. During combat it works.

As you clear rooms, more enemies start appearing. A bit too many actually. You can get into a situation where there is a horde after you and unless you get lucky with a weapon drop, you’re going to take a hit (because you can’t kill them fast enough and there is no way to kite them).

Scathe

Scathe

SCATHE takes the retro FPS back to the future and gives it Hell.

  • It’s time to escape the maze of Hell, navigate from zone to zone and choose your own path.

Non-linear gameplay in a handcrafted world.

  • Choose whether you want to rip through demons on your own or with friends (or even randoms) online.

SCATHE features single-player and drop-in/out online co-op for up to four players.

  • Unleash overpowered and over the top weapons, vapourise everything in your path.

From combo rockets to lightning frenzies, hyper fireballs to explosive buzzsaw launchers, these guns mean business and they’re at your disposal.

  • Paint Hell Red.

Behold explosive carnage and brutal gore in a detailed AAA setting.

  • Explore the regions of Hell.

From free flowing Lava lands to crumbling temples, creaking Mines to the gloopy sewers - investigate all the regions and their various hazards.

  • Take the fight to the demons of Scathe; from flying Reapers to bouncing Fleshballs, blind Seekers to mouth gunning Spitters - it’s grunts galore - time to lock and unload.

The premise is simple, navigate the maze, find the guardians, defeat them, take their Hellstones and get to the exit.

Question is, are you ready?

Project Warlock

Project Warlock

Love letter to the oldschool

Project Warlock is an arcade shooter developed by Buckshot Software as a nostalgia-driven tribute to times when a story in FPS games rolled as a panel at the end of the chapter. While John Carmack’s infamous quote “story in a game, is like a story in a porn movie” has been challenged countless times since the 90s, it does capture the essence of the shooters from that time. Meticulous, maze-like levels, armoury’s worth of guns and secrets behind a fake wall – gameplay was everything. A simple credo Project Warlock at large adheres to, while also adding few ideas of its own. By all means, it is a modern retelling of the classics, rather than an attempt at copying one, and it shows.

Okay, I would love nothing more than to give this game a positive review, because with such a cheap asking price and so many good qualities, I can understand why it has decent reviews. But difficulty aside, this game is riddled with glitches. Which is sad, because so much holds back what otherwise would be a solid game.

So, lets start with the good aspects:

The music, atmosphere, level themes, and graphics are amazing.

The price is insanely cheap.

You can tell a lot of love went into making this game.

The Mummy Pharaoh

The Mummy Pharaoh

It’s very orange.

The trailer and screenshots all come from the first 10-15 minutes of the game so I’m sceptical how much more content there actually is since if you get to the point I did it just seems like there’s a dead end where the level should continue. So you’re unlikely to play for much longer before uninstalling it just as I did and writing you’re own negative review.

It’s bad, just not in any kind of entertaining way.

I really tried, I did. Everything about this game is terrible, sorry.

A very interesting sequel of House of Evil 1.

Significantly shorter, with a much smaller map/ space size.

But much better engine and graphics. Also more survival horror element: An enemy that is not defeatable until the very end

The sequel removed the annoying ' biohazard-style herb collecting and crafting holy potions ' system. Leaving only two types of enemy.

It’s a good thing. And the game could be longer, but the current length is OK!

This one and its predecessor are both unique games. Recommended for horror fans

Sam & Max Hit the Road

Sam & Max Hit the Road

It’s Sam & Max’s first Adventure made for MS-DOS/Windows 3.1/95/98 PCs & is considered one of the best Inventory Adventure games created. Sam & Max Hit the Road is based on a 1989 Comic Adventure of the Freelance Police called: “Sam & Max On the Road”. The Sam & Max Franchise had a Cartoon Series that used to air on Fox Kids from 1997-1998 on the Fox Network Channels. Sam & Max are Dog & Bunny who operate as a Freelance Police Force.

In this adventure, Sam & Max have been tasked by the Commissioner to locate a Bigfoot that’s gone missing from a local carnival, but along the way, they run into all sorts of Zany things that makes the game feel & look fun leading into an ending that makes complete sense of the situation or not at all.

This was a surprise find for me.

I was looking for a different sort of game, one that hadn’t been over-recommended by Steam’s algorithm– and by almost impossible chance I stumbled on this. Not only did I get the sense that this was a very old game, but by reading its initial release was back in 1993– and by staring at its graphics– I immediately understood.

This game is a classic. (Unquestionably).

And Sam & Max are a familiar pair. I’ve heard of them but have never formally introduced myself to their video game counterparts.

Centralia: Homecoming

Centralia: Homecoming

Nice small horror game but it need some rework :

Nice atmosphere.

It remind of silent hill a bit.

Gameplay is OK.

Not too linear.

Game is not too easy (it’s even pretty hard).

Voice acting is not awesome but ambient sound and music is very good and stresfull.

We need to be able to change settings BEFORE you start a new game.

We need to be able to change keyboard settings too.

In inventory, the game should tell you that clicking on the ammo or the lock-picking tools

make them usable, because it look like you are selling it.

Transparency: I was involved in the development of this game, as the english voice actor for the main character.

That said, it’s not a great game, but it’s alright.

  1. It’s a pretty generic story, daughter missing, spooky town, progression through finding keys, etc.

  2. It has some fun moments. My original playthrough was the initial release, so ammo was scarce, and the weapon upgrades were not added yet. The updates made it a lot easier to progress by finding ammo and money in cabinets, and more power lets you rip through enemies.

Serious Sam 4

Serious Sam 4

[A REVIEW FOR THE DEVS AT CROTEAM]

I didn’t want to leave a review like this, but I love Serious Sam too much to not be honest. This is the first Sam game that deserves a thumbs down. I feel like I need to highlight exactly why this game isn’t just a bad Serious Sam game, but a bad game by itself. My criticism may be harsh, but is meant to be constructive, as I still love this series and want this game to improve.

WEAPONS

The arsenal is good, with all guns from SS3 returning, as well as new ones. But while this game has the same problem with balance like other Sam games (some of Sam’s arsenal becomes useless as the game progresses), the balance is also broken in a number of ways, including SS4’s new dual-wielding and headshotting.

“This review will turn to positive if Croteam fixes what is listed below”

As much as I love the other Serious Sam games this one just makes me sad. Croteam gave us 3 years of hype to end up with a disappointment of a game, this game had some great features but also came out with bad game mechanics. Lets summarize them in a list below:

Cons:-

1- Bad voice acting. Seriously Rodriguez from serious sam 3 was only on screen for like 1:30 of time and he had better voice quality than the entirety of serious sam 4. (this also includes Kenny, Hellfire, Quinn, and the rest of the characters.) the only guy that was actually interesting to listen to is Jones… but he literally dies like the next chapter of you meeting him in the previous one.
