Vlad Voievod Dracula. Episode 1 Manhunt

Vlad Voievod Dracula. Episode 1 Manhunt

The events take place during the first ascension to the throne of Vlad III Tepes, the historical Dracula. He claims his throne from the hands of Basarab, who murdered his father, tortured and killed his brother. In front of Dracula’s army, Basarab abandons his throne and flees to Transylvania to save his life, but Dracula takes his best warriors to hunt him down personally.

The game is a slow-paced tactical action-puzzle platformer, where you need to discover and correctly execute the most efficient or interesting strategy. You won’t overcome the obstacles too easily if you don’t give it some thought first. Your main sword attack is not very powerful, and you can’t take on all your enemies head-on. Some are faster than you, and more powerful, so you need to learn their timing, their patterns and movements and strategise your actions accordingly. You’ll need to wisely use the few sub-weapons at your disposal, and sometimes engage in duels. Learn to back down when needed, and strike merciless when the opportunity arrives.

So buckle up and take control of one of the coolest villains in history in his manhunt for judgement and revenge. Use skill and cold-blooded planning to crush the enemies beneath your feet just to raise them back up in pales. Pick up the sword, and let the manhunt begin!

Blood Metal

I wanna love this game, because the potential is limitless.

But unfortunately it’s just not there yet. It hasn’t even slightly reached that point and I am 100% confident that they know this. Drakeling Labs is truly testing the patience of all of those who wish so desperately to hang onto hope.

The acquisition of this game is not only questionable at best, but damn near a hostile takeover. Yes, you were within your legal rights, yes, the developer did some things wrong as well, but this isn’t how you treat a fucking passion project. This just ain’t it chief.

This game had a ton of potential. Its in a pretty rough stage at this point, there isnt even control settings. After bodies pile up a little bit it seems to drag, but other then that the gore models are awesome. Would like to see some improved blood textures as the 2D puddles often render above the ground and looks bad. I would recommend this game if you are a gore hound and want to support a small team.

EDIT 1 The new update solves the 2D blood puddle problem and looks much better, however there is no blood splatter textures that show up on walls. Also, bodies disappear quickly before they can be mulched up. Enjoying the progress so far!

Slayaway Camp

Total impulse buy. The game was on sale for cheap and I didn’t even finish reading the description. Probably not the best method of purchasing a game,, but I lucked out.

This is a puzzle game. Now, I normally don’t play puzzle games, so I don’t have the biggest library of game knowledge to compare this to, but it reminds me of a cross between Hitman Go and one of those flash games where you try to get the car out of a parking lot, or into a certain spot in a parking lot, etc.,. Each level is a static checkerboard, and pressing in any direction will send your character, the murderer, as far in that direction as he can possibly go. The result is that you have to shift your character around using the level layout in order to reach some harder to get to squares. The game teaches you the mechanics in the beginning tutorial and then gradually ramps up the difficulty as you progress, adding more enviromental factors and different types of NPCs.

This might just be one of my favorite puzzle games of recent times. Something about the 80’s horror movie vibe and voxel character gore has a lot of charm to it. In a way this is like the Broforce of puzzle games, and by that I mean, being able to play all of these classic villians, monsters, and creatures from your favorite horror films and slasher flicks instead of action movies. The humor of this game is spot on with the cheesiness of 80’s slashers, and almost everything is a comedic homage to them or other well known horror movies.

Donuts’n’Justice

Donuts’n’Justice

Donuts’n’Justice is one of the best 2D arcade shmups I’ve ever played. Looking for a real challenge? This game is for you. Its standard difficulty is so hard that even though the game only has 6 short stages/bosses, it took me around 5-6 hours to beat it. Your reflexes will be tested constantly while playing this game and you will die….a lot. So much in fact that the game tips on each loading screen will encourage you to demote your difficulty down to “Thumbsucker” mode. There is also an even harder mode available within the settings but beware - I’m sure it can’t be good for your blood pressure, lol. I’m convinced that the overall difficulty of this game was balanced a certain way to encourage co-op play, which is a big feature of this game. Vibrant, silly, action-packed and extremely fast-paced, the game is centered around two Super Cops in the 80s who are on a mission to eat donuts and kick ass. Fighting through droves of laser-wielding criminal gangs, gun-toting punks, katana-swinging ninjas, molotov-chucking thugs and even alien donuts, you start the game with a pretty useful sidearm (good firing speed and decent damage) + infinite ammo and the unlockable arsenal is generous considering the small scope of this game. It contains about 10 unique weapons, but you don’t have each weapon on hand at all times - you must pick up boxes that are dropped by slain enemies in order to obtain a random weapon out of the 10. Picking up these boxes can either work in your favor or not, depending on what weapon you end up with since some are weaker/slower than others and some are situational at best. Some weapon examples include grenades, powerful pistols, shotguns, uzis, flamethrower, rocket launcher, sniper rifle, freeze gun, kitty gun, DNA swapping gun, etc. Slain enemies will also sometimes drop other pick-ups to turn the tide of battle such as bulletproof vests to protect you and magic mushrooms (tripping on these slows everything around you down so you can take a breather if you’re getting swarmed). The controls are super simple and easy to use - arrow keys to move and the X/C keys to fire left and right. The sound design is high-energy, catchy and repetitive, but no matter how long you stay trying to pass a level, the music never gets annoying. Customization is also available after collecting enough wads of cash dropped by dead guys - you can purchase different kinds of fun hats to wear in game (some even have useful gameplay perks that activate when they are worn). Additionally, the pixel art and retro design for this game is gorgeous and performance is extremely smooth, I was very impressed upon finding out that this was a completely homemade indie game crafted with total love by just one dev. He nailed it all. In conclusion, Donuts’n’Justice is a highly enjoyable experience packed full of challenge and you genuinely feel rewarded upon beating it. Buy this game and support awesome indie devs!

Donuts ‘n’ Justice is a pixelated game that appears to be a throwback to the arcade games of the 1980s. It is also a reminder of the famous 1980s TV show Miami Vice. It is not a brawler game by any means; it is a side-scrolling shooter in which you go up against criminals by playing either Mick Riggs or Nick Gordon if you choose the single-player mode. You can also play co-op with a friend so that both Riggs and Gordon can take down the criminals together.

By looking at the game’s graphics, this is no doubt an indie game. It looks quite decent for an indie game. You simply shoot at bad guys as you move horizontally to the right, but there will be some villains shooting at you from behind on the left side of the screen. The keyboard controls are simple: X to shoot left, C to shoot right, Spacebar to throw grenades and arrow keys to move around. I got accustomed to the controls quickly despite not having much experience with them. As the action progresses, criminals will drop items such as badges, mushrooms (eat them to slow down time), boxes of new weapons. and donuts. Donuts have long been associated with cops, but in this game, donuts can save your life since they add lost health. Weapons range from the familiar to the laugh out loud types. One weapon, a DNA modifier, turns enemies into animals like chickens and pigs.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle

This is an entertaining puzzle game that has some horror and humor in it. The cartoon graphics are a great fit for the horror/humor mix. Although, the game does have some blood and violence in it, it does lean towards the cartoonish type of blood and violence. There is an option to shut off the blood animations though. The object of the game is to make Jason’s way through each board/map by getting the finishing touches on your victims and to avoid doing damage to yourself, which on some boards can be very easy.

Real player with 116.5 hrs in game

This is a must play game for puzzle fans and horror fans alike! The episode levels are both challenging and enjoyable, lots of variety and ways to kill. It’s a very funny and fun game, and this is all made with the perfect balance in my opinion.

Playing as Jason is just awesome, obviously.

Perfect game/ achievement hunters should be aware that you have to buy dlc to be able to get all achievements. To try the game out without unlocking any I would suggest only playing the first couple of levels on Play/ Story mode. The Daily Death and Murder Marathon are highly likely to unlock achievements on the first play.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

a great game that continues the story of Hotline Miami and takes place, before, during and after the first game. The second game is told in kind of a Quentin Tarantino way, jumping back and fourth in the timeline. It is not necessary to play the first game before this one but i would recommend it, since i believe that the first one is also brilliant. If you are a fan of the first game there is no reason why you would’t enjoy this one.

Real player with 563.7 hrs in game

I regret not playing this game sooner. As someone who loves fast-paced shooter games, Hotline Miami 2 hits the spot. In this game you have to embrace death in order to do well. Accept the fact that dying a lot is an inevitability or you won’t have a fun time playing this. I didn’t do that any of that initially and suffered greatly. Eventually I just decided to throw safety into the trash, and I did far better then before. My only real complaint is the level design. It ranges from: really well made, to okay, and then to downright annoying. Thankfully most of the levels fall under the first two categories.

Eternal Return

Eternal Return

EDIT: Have now finished. Difficult!

This game is hard as hell. I haven’t experienced any glitches or bugs in my time playing.

At the start I also was like ‘bad movement, die too quick, enemies take a million hits to die’ = poor game. All of that was wrong. I’m still not some legendary gymnast fencer, but getting experienced with hard and quick weapon swing timing plus the backstep, high jump AND LOW JUMP (‘hop’ in the controls) is game changing.

A very cool part of this game is how it enforces being spoiler free. There is virtually nothing out there on how win / find stuff / what the various choices you make do - the discussion forums on Steam are the best resource right now and they’re not very spoilery at all.

This game plays like an old school NES game– it also has the controls of one. If you’ve not gone and played an old platformer NES game recently, I would encourage you to play one to get an idea of how difficult the controls can really be on those old games. I would liken this game to the original Castlevania gameplay-wise with Dark Souls-esque theming.

This game has a very steep learning curve (cliff) and it is more (brutally) unforgiving at the beginning of the game than it is towards the end. Once you’re able to locate a few heart and stamina containers (and get a solid grasp on the controls) the game is more forgiving of minor mistakes you make. Unlocking the other primary weapon and the throwing ones also help turn the tide in your favor once you find them.

A great retro shooter with all the elements of the classics; moody atmosphere, bleak color palette, disturbing enemies, a well rounded array of weaponry, WELL HIDDEN secrets, spooky music, hell yeah. I spent years playing quake and doom, as well as unreal. This game is highly reminiscent of the late nineties and is quite replayable as I need to find more secrets. Well worth 15 bucks.
