Cloud Chasers - Journey of Hope

Cloud Chasers - Journey of Hope

Cloud Chasers is a text-based adventure that incorporates survival elements, map exploration, and a flying mini-game. I think the game is pretty decent when it comes to resource management and storytelling, although the controls for the glider are a bit wonky. The goal is to get across the desert which includes 5 separate levels with randomly generated events. If one of your characters dies, you start over. However, the game is not particularly hard as I was able to beat it on the second try (in less than 1 hour on normal). Since many of the achievements are attached to unique events, it does have some replay value because you can’t get everything in one run.

At $4 this is a good game. Perma death rogue lite, FTL-lite, prequel to the excellent Airheart. However, it has very little action (passive glider flying avoiding bad buys and their bullets) to collect water aka cash.

I completed it in 4 hours and don’t really feel compelled to play again soon. There are items that are worthless except for fufilling dialogue options. There are a few basic upgrades for your glider that make the water collection mini game much easier to almost trivial when the gilder is fully upgraded.

Undungeon Arena

Hello! In this masterpiece game I studied everything for about 9-10 hours! And I found 1 funny bug :)! There were more interfering bugs, but I won’t tell you about them. It’s a bug like this! I carried the worm from portal with the help of a paratrooper (he can push him, but he follows me. Into the arena. And I hide behind him from shots! Developers, I advise you to make it so that it cannot be pushed even by other NPS. Please note and fix this bug.

I’ve been waiting for Undungeon since the beginning of the year and Arena standalone was a nice discover and add to the game urge.

A nice way to spend your time and get your fighting skills ready for harsh Undungeon worlds.

I love unique art and atmosphere in this game. Devs put a lot of soul and love into it.

As someone who doesn’t really play fighting types of game, fps or rts, anything requires smashing your buttons and quick reaction, I find Undungeon fighting system pleasant, unique and innovative.

Amazing game. Brings back fond memories of the mechanics of the Descent series (before Freespace), but with it’s own unique take on the 6DoF (6 degrees of freedom) genre. The feel of the movement and combat is just right, and the game strikes a perfect balance of high speed action and item/resource management of an roguelike rpg. The game rewards skill greatly, and encourages you to conserve your ammo and use each of the many weapon types to their maximum effectiveness. Repair kits are uncommon, and take up vital (and limited) inventory space, so crucial decisions must be made about what to keep and what to leave behind. There is also a surprisingly deep crafting element, allowing you to combine weapons, hulls, and ship components to create new ones. These items, especially weapons and hulls, can dramatically alter your playstyle.

Fantastic game.

This sounds obvious but the best thing about the game is simple feel of moving about the environments and firing the weapons. It is really well nailed, really tight and fortunately this game follows up on that by giving me a depth of reasons and excuses to keep exploring: later levels having new tougher enemies, new environmental hazards to interact with, unlocks and upgrade choices (that often adversely effect something else), a developing crafting system. There are also (and least interestingly) findable text logs that allude to the storyline. All of this feeds into giving you a strong motivation to continue that original gameplay loop that is so satisfying and forms a very tight and efficient experience -considering in 4-5 hours I’m usually not out of the tutorial in a AAA style game.

Fares

Fares

Fares is a platformer adventure game with very attractive graphics and design. I managed to complete the game and achieve most of the trophies. The game starts with very basic actions and gradually getting harder and harder. The good things I Liked about the game are:

  • Level design and environment helps you to explore and never feel bored.

  • Player movement and controls are perfect for the game style.

  • Basic and straight forward story.

  • Gameplay time is suitable for a short game ( 2-4 hours).

You will SUCK at this game.

That’s the thing. But you’ll love it.

It’s fast, it’s unfair, it will make you want to push yourself to the LIMIT!

Basically a run and gun where you die in one shot, Gutwhale have been made in a short window of time, but nonetheless it’s damn good and addictive, with tons of replay value for the small price it costs.

Dev already stated that Steam Achievments are high on his priority list too, so we can expect even more challenge that now, soon!

Tiny, neat action game. Reminded me of games like Gonner, Downwell, and Nuclear Throne. The core concept is very basic - you fight through up to 12 single-screen rooms containing 1-4 enemies; you can only carry a single bullet; and almost everything dies in a single hit, including you. All this is well-executed, both mechanically and aesthetically.

My favorite design aspects were the nigh-instantaneous respawn speed that made for a “just one more run” feeling which I loved in Super Meat Boy, and a quite forgiving combo system. I ignore combo systems in bullet hell games because they demand perfection and seem tuned to only cater to the best players in those games, but here the system crucially was lenient enough that I could enjoy it, too.
