Aurora Hex - Pattern Puzzles

aurora hex is similar to the developer’s previous game, aurorabound deluxe . you’re trying to recreate colorful patterns in both, but in this game you’re bothering hexagons instead of squares. it is also somewhat similar to loop .

Visually pleasing minimalist puzzler.

Almost same genre as jigsaw puzzles, but feels different.

UI & Visuals seem a bit more refined than the first title, while retaining a similar feel to play. :)

(Currently up to late World 1, out of 20 worlds, at time of review.

Also has Daily puzzles to unlock & Infinity mode to unlock)

Ballista Legend

Ballista Legend

Ballista Legend is an action puzzler in the style of the classic Zuma game. It is beautiful and initial play is smooth and seamless. However it seems to have a few bugs that result in the game becoming unplayable after level 3 of chapter 1 for me. I am unsure if this is due to the version of the game I received or to some fault on the part of my computer. It would also be nice if the patterns on the balls distinguished them from each other in addition to the colors as the game is not entirely colorblind accessible. I will admit that despite the flaws I am eagerly awaiting the next time I am able to play.

Gorogoa

Gorogoa

Another unique incredible gaming experience. This is a visual puzzle game and nothing more. You must help you character collect 5 pieces of fruit. During your collage journey you will find a hidden, non-verbal storyline. I will let you reflect on it on your own rather than my telling you what I think it meant, but I really liked the backdrop of it all especially at the end.

The game has your screen split into 4 corners. Each corner can have its own images. You can zoom into things, or move the screen around to find object to click on or matching scenes to allow your character to walk from one image to the other. The way the game works is a unique gameplay gimmick and I feel that it was absolutely done the most brilliant way it can ever be done. The devs who made this are true artists in the sense that their imagination took over entirely to create a world within a world within a world where eventually you could find things that match and try to make it come together to help you move on to the next scene.

Gorogoa, interesting name, even more interesting game. A buddy of mine at work who is a fellow programmer came over to me and said I have to check out “Gorogoa”. At the time I had no clue what it was and didn’t even know how to spell it. We had talked extensively about Zachtronic games and games that are like programming as well as Cookie Clicker, so I was confused. Later that day I walked by and I saw him playing it.

He was moving tiles around a whiteboard and the tiles were gorgeous, but the thing that enraptured me was how the tiles were able to connect. I went back to my desk and picked up the bundle on Steam with Edith Finch as I was looking forward to playing both games. I was not disappointed in the least with either purchase.

Jigsaw Puzzles: Master Artists of Old

This is a fantastic set of puzzles. Relaxing music in the background enhances the game as well. Great variety of topics will provide hours of fun!

I like this puzzle game very much. I like how you can zoom in and out to make the pieces as small or large as you desire. I love the paintings and there is a large inventory to choose from. There is one drawback; when you are working on a puzzle you cannot save what you have done. The next time you open it you must start from the beginning. I emailed the company and they said they are working on this problem.

ReThink | Evolved 4

ReThink | Evolved 4

This is the seventh game in the ReThink franchise and the fourth game in the ReThink | Evolved series, and this is definitely the best one so far. Some new cubes and new mechanics have been added which allow for more complex puzzles than previous games, and they definitely added to my enjoyment.

The core concept of the ReThink games is to light a series of colored targets with laser light. How you combine the lasers to achieve the correct colors and how you place and angle the lasers to hit the correct targets is up to you. Sometimes the puzzles are easy, sometimes the puzzles are difficult, and sometimes the puzzles are quite tricky. There were many times when I was scratching my head for a bit and finally had the “Aha!” moment, which was very fulfilling. Also, from what I recall of the previous games in the franchise, this one is more spacious, with many of the puzzles spanning several sections.

Another good puzzle game by Yaeko. Compered to previous Rethink games (I played most of the franchise) this one has many new cool features and the puzzles are a bit harder. If you haven’t played any of the Rethink games before, I wouldn’t start with this one. See you all on Rethink 5

The Almost Gone

The Almost Gone

Well, this isn’t brilliant, but it is fairly fun and some of the puzzles are quite clever, so it is overall an enjoyable game.

-Positives-

Gameplay: Some of the scene rotations can be a little janky (I use a keyboard and mouse), and it’s not always 100% clear what you’re looking at due to the stylized graphics, but taken as a whole the puzzles are intuitive and straightforward, and absolutely don’t all into “galaxy brain” territory, i.e. it all makes sense, and you’ll feel pretty clever when you finally figure out the solutions.

Summarized version below!

I seem to always find myself playing these minimalist puzzle games. Something about the laid-back nature of their gameplay, their light aesthetic, and nice music always keep me on the lookout for new ones. So here we have one that seems to fit all of that and tell an actual story in the process — I had to check it out.

Gameplay:

If you’re familiar with game The Room and its sequels, this game plays very similarly. You’re given this puzzle that involves a bunch of smaller steps to complete and moving around the puzzle will slowly reveal bits and pieces to help you put together a solution. This can be anything from an object that needs to be picked up and placed elsewhere to an electrical panel that needs to be tinkered with to unlock the next area. This is also where the game’s puzzle design shines, as, just like The Room, these seemingly small puzzles add up to something much more and it’s cool to have this sense of progression while playing.

Lucky and a life worth living - a jigsaw puzzle tale

This is a beaultiful game, the background music is relaxing and fits really well with this game, the illustration is well made and beaultiful, I can relate to this game because I have a dog, but he’s not a dog, he’s our son, the illustration in this game reminded me my own dog, he’s cute and loves to play with me and my wife, just like lucky.

I can’t recommend this game enough, it’s a nice and relaxing jigsaw puzzle.

I bought this game with the intention of playing when i first start my streams, and i’m so glad i did. Not only is it super relaxing, but chat loved these too (unless they were yelling at me because i was blind and couldn’t find a missing piece) music is fantastic and the story it tells for all puzzles is cute.

Honestly my only complaint is, i wish there were more puzzles! Fantastic little soothing game, def recommend!

Very challenging, but fun! Minimal in its conception with use of color to contribute interest. Unique use of cubes in ways to motivate one to seek the solution, but forgiving in its offerings of undo the previous move or restart the puzzle. Refreshingly creative!!

Beyondthosehills, one indie games development studio which comes from Greece, it have two works-Reky and The Minims(This review only according to Reky). As a puzzle game, it accomplished the mission which the ability of solving conundrums from players is leveling up with the difficulty of it.

The diversity of gameplay make more possibility

From the most simplest way that only need to move one cube on the specified site to create a path through the shift and the cooperation of two types of colors, then the changing of cubes which have many colors, the difficulty of it is increasing slowly, from one to ten. No obvious up and down display on the difficulty, the whole difficulty carve is a little uneven, but the tendency is steady. The design of levels includes many ways, such as going to the end with rising and downing cubes or crossing many black portals to escape. Not only can get fun with exploring the right path by myself step by step, but also can experience the double difficulty from the adjustment of colors and blocks under by the same frame.

Pros: Excellent game series as always. The puzzles are much more difficult. I love these first person puzzle games.

Best price in the genre at $10

10/10

Cons:

I quit at lvl 40, it just seems too hard after several days.

EDIT: I beat lvl 40 finally realizing what I missed, will continue on

Game has laser glitches where changing a laser cube may leave connected laser colors that shouldn’t be allowed to stay within the game rules.

Real player with 38.0 hrs in game

Got stuck on room 40 for anywhere from 2-4 hours, got bored and softlocked myself into room 39 using a laser from room 40. I’m just going to assume that’s how the game was meant to end, since I’m not smart enough to figure out 40’s actual solution and my pride doesn’t allow yet for looking up solutions externally.

The first ReThink was easy enough that I assumed later games would similarly be walks in the park, but I cannot salute the developer enough for constantly finding ways to consistently step up the difficulty in every iteration. If you like indie first-person puzzlers, get every game in this series. The mechanics are simple enough to grasp, but still offer a lot of challenge.
