Aquaria

Aquaria

Aquaria is a Metroidvania game where you go about as Naija, learning songs and dishing out malice upon the bosses of the under water world. I 100%’d achievements in 21.5 hours (A big part of this was not having the fish form until later), but you can beat it in 12-15 hours easily. Difficulty is deceptively hard. Used a game controller for the bulk of it, with mouse for the menu and keyboard for quick changes. Recommend keyboard over controller.

Pros:

  • The art and environments of the game are great and really do stand the test of time. Each area of the map is unique and identifiable. There are plenty of fishies in this sea.

  • Large beautifully detailed world with various different looking areas

  • Dozens of spieces to discover

  • Astonishing soundtrack

  • Lifetime (about 20h)

  • Sweet story and swell voice acting

  • Lightweight system requirements

  • No RPG elements

  • Stiff controls on the land (very rare)

  • Pad is supported, but basically useless

Many might have not heard about Aquaria which was released in late 2007 by two men independent game company Bit Blot. Being an indie title is one of the oldest of the genre and it was realeased much before Braid which is considered a game that launched wide a boom of independently-developed video games since 2008 and onward. Whatsoever Aquaria is absolutely marvelous game all the way! Thanks for its excelent gameplay design and classic colorful graphical design - years have threated it very well.

EscapeVR: The Basement

EscapeVR: The Basement

I loved this game. So far this is my favorite escape the room game. Easily forgot I was in my living room and found myself avoiding tables and items in the game as if they were real. Its short but sweet. For that reason do not look up any walkthroughs! Save the satisfaction for yourself!! Also this was a good intro to VR game. My aunt said she would just take a look for a minute. She ended up playing this for over a half hour. As a non-gamer everything in this came naturally to her.

Quite good I’d say, even if I wasn’t able to complete it. I love the look of this game, and other similar games like Welcome Home, Love. It’s got that kinda 3d Studio Max, AutoCad kinda look. It might look like old style computer graphics, but the result is always unique compared to today’s soup of store bought bump-mappy assets. They made other games like this, I don’t think I’ve played them, and they might be on the harder side, so if you’re stupid, like me, it could be hard to escape. Physics/object interactions are above average if I recall.

! I like how it’s 8.99 and not 9.99, which shows conscientiousness. https://youtu.be/Wsh7G_MBdv8

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite is a masterpiece. This game has one of the best storylines ever. The story was really interesting and I had so much fun playing through it. For a game made in 2013, I’ve gotta say, the graphics in this game are BEAUTIFUL. I loved the setting of this game and the atmosphere of this game is AMAZING. The gameplay in BioShock Infinite was really cool and the combat was unique. There is quite a lot of content in this game and some DLC’s to play after you have finished the main story. There were barely any bugs in this game and it is optimized well for whatever specs you have, the game will still run fine and still look really good. I have also played through the other 2 BioShock games and I really enjoyed those ones, but this one is by far the best of the series. This game is definitely worth the price and I also recommend buying the other BioShock games with this one too if you haven’t already played them. If you like story-rich FPS games I highly recommend BioShock Infinite. 11/10

The Holy City

The Holy City

This is an amazing tool for anyone curious to learn more about Jerusalem and the many religions that coexist in this fantastic place. Very well executed. I have to say it’s very unusual for me to review projects. This because very few actually wow me to the point of actually wanting to share it with others…. This is an amazing experience that allows you to feel like you can touch the Holy Sepulcher and place a note on the Western Wall. Just fantastic. I know this is a virtual visit- but the fact the places were scanned from real life really makes me appreciate the accuracy and be able to enjoy looking at each location at my own pace. Throughout this journey I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful realistic-looking recreation of many Jerusalem temples that allowed me to freely look around and spend a lot of time inspecting painting and inscriptions on the walls. When it switched from the interactive gamefied version to the 360 video version was totally amazing to recognize the precise location where the camera was placed and enjoy seeing it filled with real people. I hope to see more soon.

How Buddy’s parents met - a jigsaw puzzle tale

How Buddy’s parents met - a jigsaw puzzle tale

This is my first jigsaw puzzle game, but I am enjoying it a lot. There are 6 pictures to put together. The pictures are the same 6 through each level. There are five levels of difficulty (increasing the number of puzzle pieces), but you can choose which you want to do and the game saves where you are at. Cute story too! I recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a relaxing way to spend the day.

Things that appeal. Minimal controls, easy snap together, bright subject matter, and a variety of puzzle sizes.

The dev of this app is very romantically minded which I found incredibly sweet considering I’m extremely jaded where this subject is concerned. I like the artwork, the music was fitting and relaxing.

[Things that did not appeal. Only one thing I found annoying was that I couldn’t change the background colour on some of the puzzles where, I had a difficult time differentiating light colours or finding the spots where they fit. An option to change to a darker colour background would have been extremely beneficial].

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs

In my opinion, this is one of the best VR games I have ever played. It takes the classic formula of throwing birds at pigs, scales it up into a 3D environment and nails everything it has to.

I have played practically all of the Angry Birds games from when they initially came out, nearly an entire decade ago, and so when I saw this, I immediately had to give it a go. I was sceptical, since the original games were 2D and adding an additional dimension would, naturally, cause problems. However, this is actually one of the best parts of the game. The level design accommodates the additional 3D element by allowing most levels to have the option of taking your shots at different, predetermined locations/angles. I find this feature really well done because it continues the element of puzzles in the mobile games where it is about finding the right wood plank to destroy and analysing the structures from different viewpoints, looking for the weak-points is both engaging and satisfying when you get it right.

Angry Birds 3D

Baseline, This is Angry Birds but In full 3D with VR controls. If you are an avid player of Angry Birds on Mobile then this is a must play for you and a perfect translation of what you’d expect from a real life Angry Birds game.

You control the slingshot, Pull it back and fire to destroy the blocks and pigs, there are 4 sets of levels all with different themes just like the Mobile game as well as another Two sets of levels available after you finish the base game with a spooky night theme as well as two more coming in the future.

RESONARK X

RESONARK X

Played this in vrchat and honestly it’s really fun. ^^ I hope to see a option for custom songs? similar to BeatSabers mods. The problem I have is the blue note. They work better in this game then in vrchat. In vrchat, they kinda delay a bit? idk if that’s a vrchat issue or not, hopefully that gets fixed. Overall it’s not a bad game I hope to see more content.
