Detroit: Become Human

Detroit: Become Human

Have you ever watched a TV series and thought to yourself, man, this character is dumb. Why would they go in there? Why would they do that? It is so stupid. For me, it happens more often than I would care to experience. But now, YOU can be in charge of your own TV series. That’s right, you can make the characters do dumb things and then know that you made them do it. Much more satisfying lol. So much power.

That is only half a joke, because that is what this game is. It is essentially a high budget TV production where you have some sprinkled ‘game-play’. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, I quite enjoyed the ride and if you don’t want to read past this point, just know that if you want to experience a fascinating setting with a compelling narrative then this game is for you.

So, most of the reviews I see are pretty positive or negative, but not super descriptive? And it really doesn’t do it justice, because this game… Well, it has a lot to say but also nothing at all. I want to preface with that I actually really enjoyed the game. I liked most of the characters, I like that there are so many branching paths in every scene, I LOVED the graphics, and I did actually like the gameplay. Overall, I don’t think you’ll be wasting money if you decide to purchase. It has a high replayability as well, which is just a lot of value.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Do you remember watching the Back To The Future film series? Great start with a disappointing middle before recovering to end in a pleasing fashion? Well, I haven’t installed Chapters as yet, but at time of writing, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is that awkward second instalment.

It certainly has its merits. The story is almost as good as its predecessor, and it is this that will most likely carry the player through to the end in spite of the drawbacks; and the author also sensibly cut back on the length of the conversations. Despite its undoubted strength in depth, many character discussions in the original TLJ simply went on too long.

Dreamfall: TLJ is a 3-d third-person point and click adventure game. The game is a sequel to a classic adventure game released in 1998 called The Longest Journey. It is not necessary to play the original TLJ to play Dreamfall, but it helps a lot, since the game universe and many characters are the same. The game is very heavy on story, dialogue, and cinematics, and light on puzzles and gameplay.

Story: the story is both the best and the worst I have ever seen in an adventure game. In the last two years I have completed 12 adventure games including old classics and modern indies. Dreamfall has a very complex and compelling story involving several interesting characters, political movements, and the complex game universe. It includes elements of comedy, drama, and tragedy. The story really gathers steam toward the end, resolving one storyline while introducing several more. Then, in the middle of the gathering drama and revelations, the game suddenly ends with no resolution to the fate of a dozen major characters and a dozen major plotlines. This is perhaps the most unsatisfying ending I have ever seen in a game, movie, book etc. Even if they did plan on a sequel, this was just plain terrible. I know a lot of people hated The Empire Strikes Back because of the unresolved plot lines. This is 100x worse.

Take air tone and beat saber and bang them together. =]

jokes aside, holy cow this is everything any could want in a rythm game. in my opinion this is more fun than playing beat saber. Being able to play your own maps makes this game already a+, but the dev’s didn’t stop there….somehow it can take literally any song you own and generate a playable map, no labor required….just insane.

Edit 4.6.20 6:17 am - Also VRM avatars are importable, which is a plus as well. I recommend pulling avatars off “VRoid Hub” (google it). They offer really cool avatars for free, simlpe as 1 click! Then just Move the file into:

Soundart is another VR rhythm game where you hit blocks. The gimmick of this one is the use of the ‘petal’ interface- you’re more hitting petals in time of when the blocks cross them than hitting the blocks themselves. I assure you it makes sense in context. It gives you the ability to play to your own music, which has its advantages, but also its drawbacks- generated maps just aren’t as good as curated maps. It’s something people complain about endlessly when it comes to Beat Saber, but in general the maps there- both official and user made- are better.

OUR:_Defense 2021

_OUR_Defense is a dynamic tower defense game. You must react and counterattack the enemies on the battlefield all the time. Fight in the most diverse conditions and places on our planet. Fight off alien swarm attacks with gigantic machine guns, shotguns, gauss rifles and even a giant laser created using alien technology.

At the beginning of the game there are only two towers, but when you open new locations there will be more of them. You will need to plan for what places, and at what point it is better to place towers. Improvements to your towers are also an important part of your defense. You need to understand at what point and in what sequence it is best to improve the towers built. When improving the main characteristics of the towers increase: strength, speed and range of the attack. To improve the towers, you will need credits that are given for killing enemies.

Real player with 14.1 hrs in game

Exploring the unknown, In Other Waters places the player from the perspective of an AI helping to guide xenobiologist Ellery Vas after she was called to planet Gliese 677Cc by her colleague, Minae Nomura. What she discovers is for the player to find out. The game is minimalistic yet beautiful, stowed away in a world that rests entirely in the imagination of the player, aside from some of Ellery’s research sketches, a topographic map that you explore, and also simplistic representations of the life within the oceans of this planet. Moving around within restricted vector points on the map, you will uncover the story in bits and pieces, every bit driving you to try to find out some more.

Keep in mind the game is old, older than the release date here on steam, so the art looks a bit dated however I enjoyed it, I liked the comic cutscenes, and liked some of the locations art. There are many details in the locations and even in the options menu! I was pleased to see even the gears moving. (I appreciate this kind of details and art)

The story was OK and clear, all the objectives and tasks were clearly described in the journal, even the puzzles hints and more information about the event going on.

Toran

Toran

Let’s be honest - there are only a few VR games that are really good. Most of AAA games remade into VR are unplayable for more then an hour. About 90% VR games are complete rubbish, giving you a feeling of waving Lego Duplo sword up & down in front of knight from the year 1998 game. And Toran make all this even worse. I’ll tell you why.

Toran is probably the best experience I had in VR so far.

For about 5 minutes.

It’s basically a puzzle game, as you line up laser lights through some kind of mirrors towards the end point. No big deal? Well.. The graphics and more importantly, the interface and controls (which is closest thing to the Minority Report I’ve ever seen) are all beyond awesome. It plays sooo easy and you feel so cool you might think you are THE GREAT ENGINEER, creator of worlds and space.

Real player with 0.9 hrs in game

This was awesome, it was alot more like a coach-version of Form, and not really even that short! It’s Lush and free and ten minutes is pretty good. After all my time playing VR I’ve come to like short and sweet, over long and dull. I like to string together the latest handful of short experiences and play them in a stream and move from one place to another. If you factor in comfort/endurance and battery life (you can’t play with a Vr setup forever you or it will have to rest) then it makes sense. Cheeze it, I don’t know.

! I’m going to the store now, do you need anything? https://youtu.be/kn6oXss79dg

Ever Forward

Ever Forward

Before I purchased this game, I was a virgin with no friends and no chest hair to speak of whatsoever; I considered my mere existence to be a dismal shitstain on the already tattered tapestry of human history, but all of that changed when I found Ever Forward.

I was dubious at first, I don’t generally consider myself a puzzle gamer, it was actually the title and description that struck a chord with me; I thought maybe if I could help a cartoon child move forward in her life, perhaps I could do the same for myself, still being a mental child trapped within a weak and twig-like body myself.

Real player with 19.9 hrs in game

Ever Forward is beautiful puzzle game with an emotional story. Depending on the way your brain is wired, it will either be pretty easy for you or quite hard. It was the latter for me, but I got there……finally!

The bones of the story is that the mother is a very busy scientist and has little time for her 12 yr old daughter. Government officials have stated that it is too unsafe to go outside, so you’re stuck home all the time. [A reason was never given for this]

You start designing your own security bot, but your mother isn’t interested in that either. The story is enacted by short cut scenes between each puzzle and are well done.

What a brilliant and fun game, you have the ability to build in all 6 directions without gravity holding you back. All of the buildings are beautifully designed and futuristic, with more things being added as the game continues to develop. To add a layer of depth to the game its more than just building zones for residents, commerce and industry you also get to manage the resources necessary to allow the buildings to grow via demand of certain products that you can choose manufacture in your city or buy on the in game market.

This game has A LOT of promise and a lot of improvements. Such as better sound effects like city sounds like the noise of cars or even have citizens walking around. simple things would be nice. Also like to see different modes of play besides free modes or retro modes would like to see perhaps a sandbox mode. would also like to see maybe different enviorments maybe different sky colors and perhaps having maybe different planets scenes like what would it be like to build a sky city on Jupiter or something with different enviorments effects and collecting different elements. Just some ideas

AIRA VR

AIRA VR

A Tower Defense of the special kind.

I love Tower Defense and have been a big fan of the genre since Warcraft III. A while ago a friend of mine asked if I wanted to try out this Tower Defense VR game he developed. Intrigued because I never played a VR game before I said yes and stayed close to the development ever since. AIRA captured me immediately, the combination of Hero Tower Defense in which you can not only build towers but also control a hero in the midst of the action and VR is incredibly fun.
