Riddlord: The Consequence

Riddlord: The Consequence

Yes, it’s interesting, but also exasperating in many ways. Bunch of woo-woo puzzles based on mystic concepts like I-ching trigrams, but no logic to them whatsoever. Somehow the mysticism of the puzzles relates to the deeds of the four fictional-real serial murderers whose lives and careers this game tries to connect in a fictional plot. Premise possibly of interest, but what the actual puzzles and clunky execution of same have to do with the premise is hardly convincing. Some puzzles were relatively straightforward; others like the I-ching trigrams were totally arbitrary as far as this player could tell. I would recommend with reservations.

if you like the room series, pick this up, it’s very similar, but longer and a lot more difficult, and unlike the room games, it’s priced fairly in euros and isn’t insanely overpriced like certain clones ported lazily from mobile. it was a bit buggy on release, nothing that going back to the main menu couldn’t fix, but now you can take screenshots without it messing up the inventory.

The Librarian (Special Edition)

The Librarian (Special Edition)

This game is so short, not just in length but content, that it should be free. There is barely any story, character or resolution. In terms of game interaction, it is a simple, not always logical, process of floating the mouse around to find objects and seeing if they interact with any of the peculiar inventory selections. It is not worth $5. And, yes, I always leave my place to take care of emergencies with a decanter of wine because you never know …

The game is really short

This is a special edition of the game you can get free on other platform. In special edition you’ll get soundtrack & artbook as bonuses.

DEEMO -Reborn-

DEEMO -Reborn-

DEEMO -Reborn- is a musical, beautiful & charming experience, in which it combines

rhythmic arcade-ish gameplay (hitting keys at the right time, in the same essence as OSU!mania/DJMax etc)

& solving clever and semi-demanding riddles/puzzles, so that you can unlock more songs to play, more areas to explore

& to progress the story further.

The Story is quite mystical & very emotional, with many but short cutscenes and a few dialogues that explains what’s going on. Voice over is only in Japanese (with english subtitles ofc)

I’m honestly so split with this port of the game. I feel like it’s a lot easier to play with keyboard, which is both good and bad. I’m glad it makes it more accessible to others, but now this is just like the NS port all over again. If you play on this version people are more likely to think you aren’t as skilled because now you can just hold SPACE and don’t have to wiggle joysticks.

Plus the fact that VK songs, Cytus 1 & 2, Egoist, AND Rayark 3 packs aren’t available is extremely disappointing. Because of the loss of almost 20 songs, the game feels a lot more empty and I’m just more tempted to boot my PS4 up to play Alone with you or Parousia.

Worthy to buy and collect.

There no crashes and no lag.

Like: characters, story, replay - reset level

Dislike: Zero

Personal Opinion: there should been probably a understanding on aztec language and numbers notes, so player could review later where character was going on about.

Liar Trick -Psychological Crime Mystery-

Liar Trick -Psychological Crime Mystery-

I have mixed feeling about the game, Its one of those game that I would group similar to Pheonix Wright, whether through its gameplay or perhaps thematically.

The game mainly concentrate on exposing lies in order to solve the case. There almost no investigative gameplay going on other than detecting facial feature or deduction on the whole narrative.

Though I applaud that the game wants to try something different, but different doesnt necessarily means fun.I do enjoy the characters and the story, but at the end it doesnt resolve all of the mysteries and sets up a sequel. If the sequel does come out one day, I hope the developer would find a way to implement better gameplay.

A wonderful experience, with a unique and interesting idea. [Joy: Truthful] (Eng and PT-BR review)

At first I found the game quite strange, then I started to understand what all the emotions shown on the mannequin were about and I knew I was facing a unique and brilliant idea for a game.

In short: due to an accident Patrick Truth lost the ability to express emotions but gained photographic memory, becoming a true human lie detector. With a strong desire to expose all people’s lies, Patrick becomes a police consultant, evaluating and resolving the most diverse cases based on interrogations of the suspects and those involved. During these interrogations, the player must observe people’s faces and correctly identify the emotions displayed and assess whether they are true or false and within the context of the testimonies to find out if they are lying. Associated with Patrick’s great reasoning ability and deductions, the player will solve several cases while knowing more about the characters in the game and discovering some surprises involving Patrick’s peculiar condition.

You can watch a full in-depth review of my thoughts on YouTube , or read my summarized review by reading every other sentence.

The premise is simple: your girlfriend, soon to be fiance, was supposed to take a plane to meet you, but she never showed up. In your infinite wisdom, you end up taking a plane to a fictional city in Russia to try and find what happened to her. Afterwards, it’s not just puzzles for the sake of puzzles, this plays like it would be a great adventure game like the old LucasArts days, because while you have to do things inconveniently, you’re not expected to just click your mouse all day long, there’s a rhyme and reason behind everything you do.

Murder On The Island

Murder On The Island

This game is reviewed for TentacleBunny's Cozy Cottage who generously offered the steam-key for Murder on the Island that was provided to the Curator

Background

This is the first Visual Novel by the renamed Forever Young Games which previously released Global Soccer Manager simulations under the same name. It is written by Márk Kovács as an experimental foray into this genre and it’s purely a Kinetic visual novel where an holiday island owner interviews the remaining 13 holiday-makers after 1 is discovered murdered on the 1st day of a week’s stay on the Island.

Murder on The Island is pretty much a Detective Kinetic Novel were you try to find the Murderer. Sadly you can only try to solve it by reading the Story. You dont get any Choices or get to decide on who did it in the end. Nevertheless just for the Case and the Infos you get while playing i found it quite interesting. It took me axactly 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete which would have been faster but you have to wait for the text to completely pop up and you cant set it to instantly.

So just the Story is quite good, however there are also a lot of things I didnt like about it. The Art is just average and the Translation has a few Grammer mistakes that are pretty obvious. The Game also feels laggy as it is completely in 30fps and the Menu is very minimal. You also dont get a Skip feature or any of the other feature you normally expect of a VN.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

This review is for both The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux. I’ve played both games, they are the same, the redux version has better graphics and some small interface differences. At the end of this review i explain more about the differences*.

More than 20 years ago, when i first played Myst i remember thinking, well, this game seems cool and all, specially the graphics, the story is very vague…and i don’t really see too many things to do…i hope i soon have some things to do.. because if i don’t i’m not so sure this is gonna work out….aand, of course, turns out, in myst, i did have some/several things to do, but in an original and unexpected way and there was a story, although not like you were expecting it to be, and it became one of the most known adventure games of the 90s (even though, it wasn’t considered an adventure by many…). And that’s fine, because the game was anything but a normal adventure, it was something else. You could like it, or hate it, but it was difficult to remain indifferent (once you played it).

Paul Prospero, a detective with a unique skillset, is called towards a piece of fan mail as though the sirens themselves would emerge the moment he sliced the licked adhesive apart. A boy named Ethan Carter writes to him, detailing some dark happenings in the hidden countryside town he resides in. Paul realizes that Ethan wouldn’t have chosen him if these dark things wouldn’t require his particular abilities. His last case shall be this one, Paul decides, and sets out to the breezy hillsides of Red Creek Valley. Within minutes of arriving, he comes across a series of potentially deadly traps in the woods just on the outskirts of town. This case will be anything but ordinary for most people, but Paul Prospero is used to it.

Mystery Hotel - Hidden Object Detective Game

This one is mostly on par with the other games made by Crisp App Studio. It’s a bit on the short side, you definitely want to get all accomplishments completed on every level to get you monies worth. Best to wait for a sale.

It’s a shame you can’t scroll through the high scores and it’d be nice to see more than 3 scores at once.

The English is improving.

Your arrival at the Hotel associated with a mysterious murder and only you can get to the bottom of the truth.
