Spartan Fist

Spartan Fist

Might have been a good game, but it doesn’t look like there is much activity here, so it is questionable if the game will see any further updates.

Autolock is a bit questionable. It will hurt you more than it helps as the autolock target choice can be questionable. It seems to be using screen space instead of world space. Think of it like if you had no depth and everything was flat for target purposes. What this means is that it seems to look for the closest target on the screen, even if the target is extremely far from your character.

Spartan Fist has a wonderful presentation with destructible environments and a catchy soundtrack. The tips between levels and the other bits of writing are clever. The options menu is fully stocked, making the game accessible to a wide range of players. Making dudes explode via a bare fist is inherently enjoyable. However, even with all of this in its favor, the repetitive and unsatisfying loop at the core of the experience is a death knell. This is a scattered roguelike experience that will make you want to punch out after your first few sessions.

If you look at the rest of the developer’s games, it appears they either used a kit and reskinned it, or made one game and reskinned it, multiple times. Keep this and the fact I’m basing my recommendation on the sale price I obtained it at (59 cents).

Game only consists of 3 stages and bosses, which can easily be completed in under an hour. However, there is 2 player battle mode and co-op, adding to the replayability. Controls are responsive. No optimization issues noted. Difficulty progression is smooth and different enemies have varied enough attack patterns to keep the game interesting.

Paint the Town Red

Paint the Town Red

Paint the Town Red is a medium-paced bar fighting game with a large variety of weapons and enemies now and here to come. It still needs a bit of optimization, but the devs assure us that the game will be optimized as the game progresses (And updates.)

The enemies are completely destructible. You could dissolve someone if you have enough time and the weapon doesn’t break. All the voxels on the enemies have different properties, with bone being the strongest natural voxel and skin being the weakest. (You will be able to damage Riot Helmets later on, but those aren’t natural.) Additional fact, is that if a enemy’s brain is damaged in anyway, they will instantly die, if they don’t, its a bug.

Punch the square people. Do it. Punch them.

A great sandbox fighter game with a lot of options to play and replay various scenarios and workshop access, allowing for a near infinite supply of content.

The game also has a rogue-like dungeon crawler on top of all the sandbox fun that initially existed, adding what is the value of basically a second game of a different genre, with similar mechanics, on top, for absolutely free (That’s what I feel about it, as I bought the game in early access, wayyy before Beneath was even on the table). Beneath is a great dungeon crawler, with many different levels, mechanics and upgrades to take you through the different bosses of the game, most of them with their very own environment and even full levels with new enemies, just to build up to another boss fight.

Heart&Slash

Heart&Slash

Heart&Slash is just about everything you would want in a fusion of rogue-like dungeon crawler and hack ‘n slash. Maneuvering Heart is nice and quick, combat feels appropriately hard-hitting and the amount of variety to be found through unlockable content and unique weapon types is downright surprising, most pleasantly so!

Yes, it is missing some refinement, some attacks from weapon to weapon feel less practical than others, difficulty may feel unbalanced being too easy in some areas, but a hassle in others (Copgore’s fight can be a very tedious waiting game) and there are some moments where the camera still bugs out or Heart gets stuck on objects or platform edges at a bad time. Through all of this, I think the game still shines in its intent. Where Heart&Slash fumbles it does so earnestly, but where it succeeds it knocks it out of the park.

Heart and Slash is a Full Suit Without a Tie.

Alright, I’ll start with the blunt of it. I would recommend this game. I may have beaten it within the first two days I bought it, and this isn’t out of grinting it, but I would for sure recommend this game to anyone who needs a good 3D roguelike. The only issue I have with the game is the story feels… lacking? I can’t quite pin it down, but much like a suit without a tie, its masterfully built and looks fantastic. Its just missing the thing that completes it, and until then, something seems off.

Hands Down simply the best game I have ever played.

Silver star!

Bought it for $0.5 and it was an interesting experience. You move your pistols/hands with the left/right mouse triggers and shoot with q/e. You turn by pressing a/d. Aiming feels similar to surgeon simulator. I like the concept but I wish it was more of an “on-the-rails” style shooter with this aiming system; I don’t like the manual turning and getting shot from all angles at once.

It has some issues:

Most importantly, there are targets in spots that you have to hit while moving (pressing a or d) because you cant target them on the screen. You can’t move your guns far enough to the left or right to hit the target without shooting while in motion. I’m not sure if this is intentional but it’s very annoying. This also happens with some of the low targets. You can’t crouch and aim down low enough to hit some targets, especially on the last piggy bank shooting gallery.

Nasty Rogue

Nasty Rogue

Hello game dev!

You’ve made a pretty fun game, honestly I would recommend it, though right now I feel maybe the price is a bit too high for what you get, though achievement hunting and trying all 3 classes definitely pads the play time a bit.

With that said though, your Hardcore Achievement seems to be bugged right now, I heard from someone it only works on slot one? I made my first character on slot one, normal difficulty, and made my second, a rogue, on the second slot hardcore mode, got to the very end and no achievement?

I think this game has a huge future!

I saw the game on one stream, decided to download a pirate and watch the game, after playing 6 hours passed completely, then decided to go to steam and see if the game is developing and was very pleasantly surprised to learn that it’s just an alpha! As a result, I bought the game in steam, and re-passed on the expert at 100%

and I’m going to re-try the game on hardcore after adding a character slot!

Pluses:

1 nice voxel graphics

2 good sound

3 interesting but still unfinished combat system (Dark souls + Trove)
