You Are Kaiju

You Are Kaiju

First of all, I would like to start by saying this soundtrack is currently in all of my playlists and I cannot stop listening to this.

When I first put on my headset, I was immersed into the life of a Kaiju and what it would be like to be one. I was immediately greeted with amazing graphics and well implemented game mechanics, after walking around in one of the many intricate maps, I discovered tanks to thwart my evil intentions. The game offers multiple attacks to give variety to combat and extremely satisfying interactions from the games physics engine. This game doesn’t allow you to hurt the people as to give a more “peaceful' alternative and allow people of all ages to enjoy such a wondrous game.

Fisticubes - One Button Boxing!

Fisticubes - One Button Boxing!

[I’ve edited my review since the game brought new updates. All small edit notes are like this]

Think “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots”, but instead of robots, it’s cubes who bounce around in a retro Nintendo 64-like world. It’s a game with strong arcade roots - you don’t have long cutscenes, no stories, you just get told how to play and jump in. It also reminds me of mini-game classics like Mario Party, a popular franchise back then which birthed many titles on the N64. If you want quick, mindless fun, it’s one of those games. If you’re at home with a friend and you’re bored, you can avoid a dull evening with Fisticubes.

Jelly Brawl: Classic

Jelly Brawl: Classic

Jelly Brawl is the perfect game when you wanna take a 5-10 minute break from whatever and just de-stress. It’s a simple enough game that you can pick it up almost immediately; but the game offers multiple stages, obstacles, challenge rounds, and boss rounds to keep you on your toes.

As a newly released game, there are features such as multiplayer online that are still being finalized behind-the-scenes. So if you’re looking for a fully finished game right from the start, I’d recommend waiting until the full version is released. But if you’re just looking for something fun and lighthearted, give Jelly Brawl a go! :)

Masterpiece. Played across the world with an online friend in Germany. Servers were great, 10/10. The lag makes the the game even more fun and you can always crash the game by breaking a pillar if you’re losing. Such a good game we were laughing like maniacs.

Kawaii Deathu Desu

Kawaii Deathu Desu

Kawaii Deathu Desu is basically the sum of its parts. It is about as straight foward as a game can get. If there is an enemy to the left, attack left. If there is an enemy to the right, attack right. It really is as simple as that. There has been a lot of comparisons to One Finger Death Punch and I can understand where people are coming from but there is one crucial difference: One Finger Death Punch (OFDP) insists that you don’t button mash. You won’t directly lose if you do, but you will be made vulnerable, and will likely die as a result. It will also damage your score at the end of the level. Kawaii Death Desu does not have such scruples. For this game you will have to break out the old crack hands and go to town as you mash left and right slaughtering thousands before you.

I was expecting something that required a bit of reaction and thinking, like One Finger Death Punch, but instead I found this game to be nothing but mashing. You can beat anything by just killing your fingers.

Then I figured “if it’s so mindless, I might as well put up a macro recording to play the game for me.” So I did. That was a lot more interesting. I actually got quite a kick out of figuring out some kinks that a macro recorder has.

So after one day and one night just letting this fancy screensaver play itself, I got every character unlocked and maxed, and I have zero interest in doing anything with them because the game has no challenge in it. If you have working fingers, you’ll beat it. This isn’t the same as simple being fun, One Finger Death Punch was simple and that was a lot of fun because it bothered to require at least some kind of brain chemistry and had variation. A small child might see the amusement in this thing on a cellphone, that’s who I’d recommend it to.

About the Game

  • Shattered Soul is a modern game that interprets Beat’em up by adding the fun with a charming narrative based on Metroidvania-styled epic action. Explore a fantastic world that intersects medieval Europe, follow stories of adventure in search of lost soul and bodies.

She explores the forests, cathedrals, and snowy villages of the border area, and battles enemies by using various techniques against bandits, fanatics, demonized humans and mutant animals. ‘Ireth’ discovers secrets all over the continent to find her soul with shattered sword ‘Bias’.

  • As you hack-and-slash your way across town - either solo or with a friend in local co-op - you’ll gain new skills, chow down on power-ups, wield an assortment of weapons, and unleash an arsenal of combos, throws, and special combat moves for both fighting enemies and platforming challenges

Beatdown Brawler

Beatdown Brawler

Interesting idea but mediocre delivery. Controls are imprecise and ruin the experience. The Stages are simple. You beat some generic enemies and then fight a boss who is basically the same as the generic enemies but with way more health. The traps are kinda just there. Sometime you can get the enemies to get hit by them. Which is a good thing cause they run away and try to get behind you too much. And you have no kind of AOE attack. You get what you pay for. It is early access so maybe there will be some small improvements.

It says controller support, but it’s not responding in the game. Which is annoying, because the mouse control system is terrible as I prefer controllers for action gaming. At times, the system even stops responding to any and all input when using the mouse… for no reason.

Not sure I like the “lock on” system for targetting. Get a couple people and they always get behind you, especially with random spawn points (not to mention some of the maps are no larger than a walk-in closet). You can’t attack the one your locked on because they run away, allowing easier access for their friends to attack you from behind. Even on the easiest setting, it’s almost impossible to win consistently.

Metamorphos

Metamorphos

It’s a nice short Souls-like game that can be finished for around an hour and a half.

Graphics are great, but somehow not too optimized even if I set the quality at its lowest. Some animations feels stiff, but this is just nit-picking on my part.

Controls felt really clunky. I don’t know if it’s just me, or the game feels unresponsive. There are times that my character just stands still no matter how much I move my analog stick. The camera moves fine, but I can’t attack nor evade. Its really annoying since this always happens when I’m battling enemies.
