You Are Kaiju

First of all, I would like to start by saying this soundtrack is currently in all of my playlists and I cannot stop listening to this.

When I first put on my headset, I was immersed into the life of a Kaiju and what it would be like to be one. I was immediately greeted with amazing graphics and well implemented game mechanics, after walking around in one of the many intricate maps, I discovered tanks to thwart my evil intentions. The game offers multiple attacks to give variety to combat and extremely satisfying interactions from the games physics engine. This game doesn’t allow you to hurt the people as to give a more “peaceful' alternative and allow people of all ages to enjoy such a wondrous game.

Has a heart of fire!

A simple but engaging action-platformer

with a rewarding score and ranking system.

A mix of Wonder Boy III and classic Castlevania.

  • A superb soundtrack that gets better each stage

(It’s worth buying the soundtrack!)

  • Varied, thrilling boss battles

  • Dragon protagonist

  • Going from F- rank to S+ feels amazing

The bad

  • Most of the story had to be cut sadly

  • Quite short, but priced appropriately

WELL THIS GAME IS BUGGY I CANT PICK THE DOCUMENT OR THE BOOKS IN THE LABS AND THE MONSTER’S ARE WAY TOO STRONG FROM THE BEGINNING ALSO THE LEVELLING SYSTEM DOES NOT SEEN TO WORK. BUT I WILL REFRAIN FROM A PERSONAL RATING TILL AFTER ITS OFF EARLY ACCESS THAT HOW BAD IT IS RIGHT NOW SO I HOPE THE DEVELOPER FIXES THESE PROBLEMS.

Cosmic Cube reminds me the time I enjoy various side-scrolling doujin games from DLsite. The game is now in early access and only support two languages (Japanese / Chinese) for user interface.

Cosmic Cube is very simple anime action game with R-18 content (pretty much reason for purchase). You play as female protagonist that somehow reminds me of Skyfire character without ears and break in secret lab filled with robot enemies and Bane’s lost brother.

The combat is similar to side scrolling brawler genre, but pretty straightforward. Here’s keyboard control because the game does poor job on in-game explanation basic mechanics.

Fallen City Brawl

Fallen City Brawl

Brawl through the city in hard-hitting pixel art style inspired by arcade classics!

As a brutal battle for control of Fallen City’s criminal underworld rages, four strangers join forces to survive and reclaim the streets! With a ferocious wolf at their sides, these unlikely allies will face impossible odds. Along the way, motivations and past lives will collide, further testing their loyalty as well as their fighting skills. Only by binding together can they reach the final showdown that will decide who lives and who falls.

Inspired by arcade beat ’em ups of the late ’80s and early ’90s, Fallen City Brawl is a story of ambition and revenge told through intense side-scrolling pixel art action. Huge sprites and animated backgrounds breathe life into the dying city streets, while fighting mechanics offer uncommon depth with destructive combos, counters, air-throws, grappling, parries, special moves and “RIOT” supers! Animated cutscenes and a powerful soundtrack by famed composer Daniel Lindholm set the tone for urban mayhem, playable solo or with friends in local co-op!

Features:

  • Fight through 8 stages of arcade-inspired action!

  • Choose between 4 playable characters.

  • Execute combos and specials with deep hand-to-hand combat mechanics.

  • Pick up weapons like pipes, bats, knives, firearms, oil drums, chainsaws and more!

  • Clear the screen with special attacks by upgradeable mercenary backup.

  • Battle it out solo or with friends in local co-op.

  • Command a wolf companion or unleash him and watch the carnage!

  • Get in the mood for mayhem with a soundtrack by Daniel Lindholm.

BROK the InvestiGator - Prologue

BROK the InvestiGator - Prologue

(Disclaimer: I was involved in this game as a voice actor, though not for anything in this demo. I’ve not been pressured to write a positive review, however, and went into this game blind. My thoughts are my own.)

TL:DR? It’s fresh. It’s fun. It’s free. Go play it.

I was really pleasantly surprised by this game. When you work on projects within the indie game world, you always hope that they turn out great. From everything this demo showcases, Brok has the moxie and charm to be something special.

Completed on Hardcore difficulty with a wired Xbox 360 controller. (Also my first ever review; apologies for the formatting)

The best way to describe my experience with this demo is that it’s a game I never knew I wanted. I found BROK mainly because I was bored but also because Steam related it to Disco Elysium, so I was inclined to try it. After my first few playthroughs, these were aspects of the game that stuck to me most.

Gameplay and Features

The voice acting is phenomenal. Casting is on point, especially Brok’s voice actor (Bryan J Olson) who makes Brok a very charming individual with his animated delivery.

Astro Knight was made as part of the inaugural Hackubator class, a game accelerator program where we are split into teams of 5 and tasked with making a game in 3 months. Our team, House Rogue, embodies the values of competence and candor with a sizable helping of rebelliousness embodied by our mantra “Go left”.

The Great Unborn

The Great Unborn

I spent two whole dollars on this and I would have rather set both dollar bills on fire and shoved them up my butthole than have played this game for a single minute. The scenery is generic and unchanging, the combat simplistic (you only have one move), the enemy AI makes no sense. And to top it all off,

! when you reach the final boss, you get a screen that says “you failed to get revenge and have died” and then the game ends. The audacity of the developer to charge any amount of money for this at all should be a crime.
