Story of a Gladiator

Story of a Gladiator

Story of a Gladiator is a small arena beat ‘em-up game in which we try to avoid getting a bloody nose.

The story is told quite quickly: Our family and friends are killed by the Romans and we manage to escape so that we do not end up in slavery… or worse. Finally, we spend the day with fighting and drinking alcohol in the company of shady ladies - until one day we meet a famous gladiator who gives us some advice on how to become a great champion ourselves. And so our first fight of many begins in the arena…

The game is very fun and interesting, we definitely need more Gladiator games as there hasn’t been any good one’s in modern times, it’s very sad that such genre is not being looked into by developers and game studios. Ryse of Rome had gladiator mode, but it’s not like Gladiator Begins/Road to Colosseum. I am glad this game came out, and hopefully people show interest in this game, so we can get more of this genre.

As for the game

The game is very fun and actually very hard, my only issue with it is the lack of story and in depth customization, the game feels very limited in that aspect, it’s not even as good in terms of depth as sword and sandals to be honest. The graphics are amazing, the armour looks very nice, I just wish there was more depth to fight styles, weapon, character customization, story arc, training and maybe companions and such in fights. There is a lot the game can do, I played all the levels and have 3 stars in all of them, took me 9hrs total play time

Time Commando

Time Commando

Wow.

I was only 7 the last time I had ever touched this game, that was all the way back in 2009. I got frustrated with Time Commando because of how difficult it was, never being able to finish the game after already halfway through it and eventually gave up. I ended up losing the disc somehow and when I did decide to give it another try I never found it again nor could I find another copy anywhere else, so I gave up looking and eventually forgot the game even existed.

Then LO AND BEHOLD, 12 years later and I stumble across this game again on Steam. Words cannot express how absolutely THRILLED I was to be able to play Time Commando again!

i own it on CDROM now I own it on SteamROM

if u want the DOSBox to be in windowed mode with higher resolution, you have to go to the steam folder you installed it, like “X:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Time Commando”, find “TC.conf” and change the window resolution to something like “windowresolution=1280x960” then either “fullscreen=false” or just Alt+Enter when it opens

Save One More:

One of the many honourable serviceman on the battlefield is the one with the role of the Medic. These individuals are exposing themselves to the same dangers and fears as any other soldiers in battle. Not only do they have to dodge bullets and upcoming bomb shells, just like any other warrior, but their primary job is to get to their wounded comrades as fast as possible, without thinking twice about their own life. They definitely have a super sense of hearing to be able to make out the call, “Medic,” between explosive shells and whistling bullets. What courage these men must have in such chaotic situations, motivated by the thought, “I must save one more.”

6/10

A nice twist on war gaming

Short good game. I quite like art style.

A few tweaks would make a huge difference:

Firstly:

cut scenes should be skipable.

secondly:

the game displays wounded/saves/dead if one soldier goes down 5 times and you save it 4 times before it dies score would be 5/4/1\. when your dealing with groups of 20 or 30 soldiers its very hard to tell how many units are currently down. Quite a few times I though I'd revived all wounded only to have the dead count surprise me by going up.

## Wulverblade

_Extensive knowledge of Shetland folklore_ isn't exactly a topic on my resume, so I had no idea what a Wulver was. Apparently, it's some kind of humanoid wolf creature. But unlike a werewolf, the night sky doesn't need to be lit by a full moon for a Wulver to scare the living daylights out of you. Combining Scottish mythology and Roman history, **Wulverblade** tells the story of a Caledonian tribe trying to stop the invasion of their land by the Roman Empire's Ninth Legion about two millennia ago.

### Good Looking History

Limbs fly and blood pools across the floor as I hack my way around 120AD Roman occupied Britain. I smash an archers head into the floor repeatedly until he is decapitated and then turn, lobbing it as a missile into an oncoming centurion, knocking him to the ground.

Wulverblade is a side scrolling brawler where non stop button mashing action blends with historical interest, set to the backdrop of a colourful, cartoonish style. The graphics appeal to me aesthetically with detail and layered environments. I loved the animated backgrounds which added immersion, such as a flight of deer running behind you in the forest, crows watching you from the foreground or a distant battle taking place. The animations are smooth and fast with satisfying combos, a rage bar for ultimate annihilation and the ability to call upon your wolves once per level to savage the enemy. I recommend you save it for when you're being overwhelmed, as this game really does love to throw numbers against you.

## DYNASTY WARRIORS 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition Review

Nostalgia Goggles Factor: Very Low.

Bug Factor: Very Low.

Crash Factor: Very Low.

Replay Factor: Intrinsic.

A crowd-control, hack'n slash game based on a Chinese novel, set in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. DW8XL contains an enormous amount of content and repetitive gameplay.

As I have played and reviewed DW3 recently, I will be doing some comparisons between these two games. Like many other reviewers have pointed out, "Complete Edition" is a lie, as is evident from glancing at the DLC section and you should not be playing this game with a keyboard.

-sigh- Where do I begin?

Well, I gotta start by saying, if you're looking to get into the Warriors/Musou games, this would be the ideal title to start with. Easily the best title in the series (at least since DW5).

For those new to the series, Dynasty Warriors (a.k.a. Shin Sangoku Musō) is, basically, a hack-n'-slash based on era of the Three Kingdoms of China, and the romanticized novel of the same name. In its stages, there are thousands of enemies of various calibers to mow down. You got your peons that go down in a few hits, your commanders that are a little tougher, your generic named officers that are a threat, and other playable characters that have the same abilities you do. You have a more-or-less equal amount of allies on your side, and how they fight is determined by your side's overall morale, which itself is determined by your performace. Each character has their own string of combinations, but I'll get into that in the next paragraph.

## Hanako: Honor & Blade

I'm going to comment solely on the feel of combat since IMO that's the most 'make or break' factor in a PvP game. As of writing this review the game offers 4 classes, 3 melee and 1 ranged.

The ranged character uses a bow and its pretty typical of what you would expect from such a class. Mechanics like projectile drop and needing to lead on a moving target respect the physics of shooting an arrow but they're not overly difficult as to become aggravating. You can play back and aim your shots or you can get close and spam arrows, its a good mix of skill & spray-n-pray.

First off, the Devs have worked really hard to get this game to where it is now and it shows. When I had my first few games I had expected broken mechanics or obvious inbalance of the classes. However I was pleasantly surprised that they have a very strong foundation in place.

All 3 classes play differently with their own unique style to learn and bring out the fantasy that they are known for. Easy to pick up and learn but also some depth for those who want to truly master their classes mechanics.

## SAMURAI WARRIORS 4-II

### Intro

Coming straight from _Samurai Warriors 2_, I expected nothing short of fluid and great gameplay and Koei has delivered

with _Samurai Warriors 4-II_. I'd always prefered the SW games compared to Dynasty Warriors or the

Warriors Orochi games which I played on the Xbox 360.

I'll make many comparisons to _Samurai Warriors 2_ as that was the last SW game I played, back in 2007 and I recenly played again to get that ever so good Nostalgia feeling.

### Warriors / Story

Samurai Warriors 4-II is a sequel to Samurai Warriors 4, or it’s a remake, or it’s Xtreme legends. Or…. honestly exactly what it is, isn’t clear.

The Warrior series has a long history of doing Xtreme Legends which is their “complete” edition usually allowing someone to play both the original and extra levels in one with more characters. However, there’s only one new character, Naomasa II, who is interesting, but not enough for a whole new game. There’s also no way to play the old game, there are just new stories here. It’s not a remake either, as the stories are vastly different, and the characters are the same. The game claims to focus on the characters more in the stories, but honestly, the stories feel the same style as the original game, though the original Samurai Warrior 4 has better stories (At least characters you care about more), but I found the ones in 4-II to be more interesting on some levels. At least it’s not the same story we’ve heard three times already in this series, it’s a new character that the game wants to focus on, which is a good change.

## DYNASTY WARRIORS 8 Empires

This review will be posted, while having DW5E in mind. Gonna be long.

DW8 Empire is first empire game that come to PC from the series.

You don't need any of DLC to experience 100% of the game or complete 100% achievement run. Mostly, it's just flavour.

Game outside of battle aspect got reworked entirely, You are not being considered always a ruler. You can play as Free Officer, Vagabond Unit (a party without a land), Officer under someone, their Lieutanant, Officer, Strategist or Marshal. The last two being almost as the ruler themselfs, but with the option of rebel/betrayal. To win the game, You don't have to be a ruler, all You have to do, is to be inside the winning force. I lost only once so it's hard to say if there's even Game Over screen.

OMG still in shock with the release of empires on PC. I have long heard of it, but haven't been able to play the "Empires" of a Dynasty Warriors game since it usually goes out on PS3 or XBox. And here it is, right on my doorstep, on steam. What better way than to test it out.

This review should be unbiased (Sort of), as I have been a dynasty warriors player of Dynasty Warriors 3, 4, 6 (5 skipped due to not being on PC), 7, and 8\. I have experienced all the 1 vs 10000 army battles, while slaying down all that stands in my path (including gathering the courage to stand against the mighty Lu Bu, though mostly getting my blade handed back to me 10 times fold).
