Time Commando
Wow.
I was only 7 the last time I had ever touched this game, that was all the way back in 2009. I got frustrated with Time Commando because of how difficult it was, never being able to finish the game after already halfway through it and eventually gave up. I ended up losing the disc somehow and when I did decide to give it another try I never found it again nor could I find another copy anywhere else, so I gave up looking and eventually forgot the game even existed.
Then LO AND BEHOLD, 12 years later and I stumble across this game again on Steam. Words cannot express how absolutely THRILLED I was to be able to play Time Commando again!

i own it on CDROM now I own it on SteamROM
if u want the DOSBox to be in windowed mode with higher resolution, you have to go to the steam folder you installed it, like “X:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Time Commando”, find “TC.conf” and change the window resolution to something like “windowresolution=1280x960” then either “fullscreen=false” or just Alt+Enter when it opens

Breakneck City
One of the reasons I love Steam is I keep finding games I didn’t know I need. I feel that developers loved the Dynamite Deka series and wanted to create a similar game but in a Double Dragon mold. The gameplay handles well with a controller and the boss fights have real character. One sword wielding foe tosses one of his blades in air to free up his hand and spit a fireball across the screen. Small touches like this indicate a love for the genre.

A fantastic throwback to 3D beat ‘em ups, a genre that is woefully undeserved given that we mainly throwbacks to 2D beat ‘ems ups that are inspired by the likes of Final Fight or Streets of Rage rather than games following the Dynamite Deka or Spikeout lineage.
Combat is pretty simple, there’s no Devil May Cry style move list, but the fundamentally solid basic attacks and a great feeling dash combine with top notch level design, clever environmental interactions, dynamic enemy types make for a really fun time.

Retro Classix: Two Crude
Another great retro Beat ‘em up game to kill some time! Frustrating at times, but the action is superb.

Reminds me of the 90s big time. I remember seeing the Sega Genesis version and I wanted to try this game out since I heard the Arcade version is superior but I can tell you the hit boxes on the enemies are rough and it can be completed in 30 minutes. Its fun at first but the bosses hit boxes are terrible.

Iron Commando - Koutetsu no Senshi
Iron Commando is a very good example of the genre that deserves to be up there wtih games such as Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Double Dragon etc.
It was made for the arcade cabinets.
Authentic 90’s style arcade music, same for the graphics and this game just feels like all the best bits of the genre thrown together and instantly accessible.
I love the variety of weapons, animations of the bad guys, colour palette - everything is just spot on! Great work
As a retro Arcade beat em up 9/10
Have some minor issues with sound skipping / quality on windows 10 when launched in big screen mode.

4/10
As much as I love beat’em’up games, I just don’t think Iron Commando is a very good one. You can find all three Streets of Rage games for a cheaper price on Steam and, if you want to play something more recent in the same genre, there are games like Streets of Fury EX and The Takeover.
Iron Commando has some nostalgia value, but overall, it doesn’t really hold up much. Even if you play on easy difficulty, enemies are way too aggressive and have an attack range that is bigger than the characters’, so you’ll find yourself constantly getting hit. It also doesn’t help that the screen is way too small for a game like this and you often can’t see far enough.

Brawler
A classic-style beat em up made by a small team. Impressive! I enjoyed the three heroes and great variety of enemies. They looked realistic; almost like digitized actors. The music was catchy, and stages were fun. The cutscenes with the reporter, hero, and the ending were a nice touch. I felt it could use voices for landing hits, continue, difficulty setting, and maybe free lives, But well done on this indie game.

Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle
i bought this mainly for online coop but overall i enjoyed my experience.
what i liked
-collection of great games.
-2 player online coop plays has no lag, feels smooth like local coop in my opinion.
-drop in/drop out feature lets players connect midgame, you don’t have stay in a lobby doing nothing while waiting for online player to join, you can play the game while waiting and don’t have to restart from level 1 when someone joins.
-options to adjust game difficulty and ### of lives/continues.

Rather than reviewing each of the games in this collection, this will be a brief overview of the bundle itself. I’ve only played few credits as of writing this, but it seems to be sufficient for a general feel of the collection. If my opinion changes I’ll modify this review as needed.
This is a collection of seven arcade beat ‘em ups: Final Fight, Captain Commando, The King of Dragons, Knights of the Round, Warriors of Fate, Armored Warriors, and Battle Circuit. The Japanese and international versions of each game are available. The inclusion of Armored Warriors and Battle Circuit is particularly nice as I believe this is the first official release of those games outside of arcades.

Stand ‘em Up
Pretty straight forward type of game if you’re into Beat ‘em up games. It gets a little frustrating at first, but you’ll get the picture of the game. Can’t take screenshots though. No big deal.

Fun platformer about a famous Russian blogger who lived an ordinary life, shooting videos and gaining subscribers, but suddenly a strange thing happens, the audience of the channel decreases and everyone says that he has a double who pretends to his success. So our protagonist takes to the streets of his town to restore justice and get rid of crime. All we have to do is fight our enemies, get money for it and spend it on new skills or super-strikes.
The game will be remembered for its visual style, synthesized soundtrack and funny voice acting.

The TakeOver
This is an excerpt of my review published in the latest issue of Mega Visions Magazine, located here :
Perhaps looking back at how fans of the series have kept interest alive in Streets of Rage through mods, hacks and fan games, it shouldn’t be too surprising that a single fan has taken it upon himself to develop a next-generation 3D Streets of Rage spiritual successor that he’s always longed for.
That game is called The TakeOver and is being developed almost singlehandedly by an indie developer named Antonis Pelekanos (aka Pelikan13). Prior to The TakeOver, Pelekanos was developing ‘90s Arcade Racer that was funded via a successful Kickstarter campaign before publisher Nicalis purchased the rights to the game. Since then, Pelekanos has turned his full focus on The TakeOver and has consistently released frequent updates to the game with the final release expected in the coming months.

“OK, look. You’re…Well, you’re not like me. I mean, you’re not… human. I mean, you’re human, but you just… you’re not real. You’re not, like, a real person. Like me. You’re clones. You’re copies of people out here in the world.”
~The Island (2005)
Painfully obvious Final Fight / Streets of Rage rip-off. On UNITY. End of the story. No, seriously. That’s pretty much everything you should know about this game. It’s a clone of those good ol’ beat ‘em ups with close to nothing special about it. Which means that $19.99 / £15.99 is a bit too much. Back in the days? I would be like “Yeah, right… Give me a proper new game, or GTFO”. Nowadays, though? I don’t think we can be picky. Just because a lot of old genres are dead now and we rarely get high quality games in them. And this one? There’s quite a lot of good about it.

Friend Fighters
Had a great time playing this with friends.
The controller support is really rough around the edges though and it’s difficult getting different controllers to work.

I can see the point of all those bad reviews that has spread around the internet. The game costs too much. Lacks of contents. Netcode isn’t the greatest. No voice acting.
But let’s see the positive side of this things:
Working on a videogame it’s not an easy task. Working on a game and supporting it with costant and huge updates is much much more then I ever wanted in Super Smash bros. Ultimate, which I play it as a competitive player. At least since before NASB launch. And for smash you all fucking payed it for a limited edition + 2 DLC pack. For sure. Most of you. It’s something like 130 euros. And you can’t even dash without lagging for half a second.
