Balls Royale

Balls Royale

Day one review (to be updated).

The game has a few bugs and errors but over all I find it fantastic! The gameplay shown in the videos and screenshots is exactly what you’re getting so I won’t go into detail about it. These are my main takeaways after almost 2 hrs of gameplay:

1. The power-up which shrinks the size of the others paddles, or whatever they’re called, is terrible. When it is active you have no chance whatsoever to dogde balls coming from the sides so if a ball comes in a steep angle you instantly loose.

So there were these two games, Pong and Breakout. This game, Balls Royale, is kind of a combination of the two. And in my short time playing thus far, is pretty feckin rad. Problem is, it needs more people. What kind of people? People who don’t mind spending two dollars for some fun. Because trust me, it’s fun.

The matches don’t last long, the chat is pretty lively and fun, and the Developer, Enigmum, pops into matches when not chatting with the folks playing. There are a few unlocks for ball color, bar color, etc, but nothing extravagant. No, it’s all about the gameplay. Granted, it’s one of those “I’ll jam out on it for a half hour or so” kinds of games, but that “half hour or so” is gonna be pretty feckin fun.

Mortal box

Mortal box

overall it’s a pretty good game.

it’s quite simple every player haves a target to chase, as well it’s the target of someone else. like a catching mice kind of gameplay in 6 faces of a cube.

there are some power-up based on math. that may benefit you or harm you harm you. it could be hard to understand this kind of perks but once you get used to it it’s pretty easy.

the AI it’s ok. but the main mode it’s to play it with 2 friends

so does worth the price? yeah, it’s a pretty simple game but for 2 dollar it’s worth.

Dying Light: Bad Blood

Dying Light: Bad Blood

This game is a huge dissapointment both from the standpoint of a fan of Dying Light and a fan of Battle Royale game modes.

It largely misses the mark due to the following reasons:

  • The combat is modelled after the PVE combat in Dying Light and feels like you should have hit but didnt, or the other guy should not have hit you but they did. What worked so well vs zombies in the PVE game comes off as very disconnected combat in this game.

  • The BR mode itself does not play out with proper building tension and tightening of the arena. Instead there’s just a hard cut off (night time) where the helicopter just leaves without you.

I never write reviews, but everyone’s shitting on this game for the wrong reasons so I feel like I should. This is the first “battle royale” game I’ve ever enjoyed (besides the culling). Battle royale games are boring. You spend 90% of your time running in a straight line, or staring at the floor looking for items. Not this one. Literally every second of this game, from spawn to finish, keeps you engaged. The PvE content really sets it apart; for once, in a game of this genre, pve+melee combat is actually enjoyable, not a clunky mess (though pvp melee could use some work; I dislike the idea that it’s essentially just RPS). Dying light’s signature parkour adds a ton of spice to the mix; people complain about other’s running away, but 9/10 I have been able to catch runners. Just read where they’re trying to go and beat them to it or throw something at them. People also complain about the 12 person max; this game would not work with more people, and more people wouldn’t make it more fun. Stop trying to make it something it isn’t. If it makes you feel better to call this a 1-life FFA/deathmatch with objectives, then think about it that way. But disliking a game for not trying to be something it isn’t is completely unwarranted, and just childish. Also, it’s EA yet I haven’t had a single bug or any lag, I don’t even know why it’s not considered the full release. Overall, this game is fast-paced + engaging, completely unique, and just plain FUN, as games should be.

Pixel Strike 3D

Pixel Strike 3D

To give some background, I was a 37 year old homeless person with a crippling addiction to heroin, when a young, rich couple decided to take me into rehab. I was flattered with the offer, never having felt the touch of a human in ages that didn’t regard me as lower than scum. I was quickly taken into a nice rehab facility with tons of welcoming faces. Fast forward 2 months and no problems where being solved with me. I got the most terrible shakes whenever i spent 6 hours without a fix. The very same couple that offered me the treatment, decided that I was in fact, a lost cause. They booted me out of rehab faster than I could blink. Everything looked bleak. When I remembered something my counselor told me in rehab, which was, “Knowledge is power.” Then it hit me. I then ventured forward 2 miles to get to my towns library. I remembered that we had a field trip from the rehab center to that same library so I carried my card on me at all times. I then proceeded to go in and look in the historical fiction section. I proceeded to check out my book, but on my way out I couldn’t help but glance over in curiosity at the kids playing on the public computers. And there it was, Pixel Strike 3D. I asked the child if i could try the game out, and to my surprise, he allowed me to proceed without batting an eye. I sat down and proceeded to get at it. I remember going at it and not 5 seconds later I achieved the most beautiful high that I have ever experienced in my life. None of the years of hard drug abuse could even stand in the same room as one round of Pixel Strike 3D. I finished the round, and I quickly had an epiphany. I ran back to my old job as a high end contractor and begged the supervisor for my job back, and she decided to give me a chance. No later than 2 months, I already had my life back on track, getting back together with my wife, seeing and taking care of my 3 children, a fully payed mortgage, and a six figure income. I owe my whole life to Pixel Strike 3D, and everything that has come of it.

Gimme, Gimme, Chicken Tendies.

Be they chrispy, or from Wendy’s.

Spend my hard-earned good boy points,

On kidsmeal ball pit burger joints!

Mommy lifts me to the car,

To find me tendies, near and far!

Enjoy my tasty tendie treats,

In comfy big-boy booster seats.

Mcdonald’s, Hardees, Popeyes, Canes,

But of my tendies, none remains.

She tries to make me take a nappy,

But sleeping doesn’t make me happy!

Tendies are the only food,

that puts me in the napping mood.

I’ll SCREAM, AND SHOUT, AND MAKE FUSS!

Blazing Sails

Early acces? It’s already insanely playable, nothing seems to be really missing and no huge bugs.

It’s a 4man team battle royale, it seems to take a lot of inspiration if not downright most of it’s stuff from sea of thieves.

The rounds are 5 - 20 minutes, divided in mostly 2 parts:

Looting and fighting.

during the looting fase you might run into other people on land, so combat ensues.

When sailing to the next island you might run into another ship, ship to ship combat ensues.

The safe area, as with every BR gets smaller and smaller, forcing ships closer and closer, these fights can turn very hectic very quickly.

This has become one of my go-to games to sit with some friends and just laugh and have fun. There is a little bit of a learning curve with the controls but it isn’t frustrating. The only real frustration you get is when your friends edge you out. I would like to see more game modes in the future; however, what the game currently has is more than enough for some hours of entertainment with friends.

The local multiplayer can support up to 8 friends or bots and is definitely a joy with more people. Simple yet extremely entertaining.

English(i’m not excellent at english): I don’t tried the game for too long,I TOTALLY recommend it to you if you don’t have any friends to play with or if do you have them(in my case I use Parsec to play online),very nice playing singlepayer. Very nice soundtrack and in my opinion the experience is much better with a controller rather than with a keyboard

Listen, there is a lot going for this game. It has some serious potential. However, just playing the lite shows how bad this game really is. Immediately when you load the game, you get a boring loading screen and then it just cuts to a generic ui. But at-least with the UI here, you can click something. In the character and stage select screen, I need to use WASD and G And in order to pick a character I need to monover out of the roster and onto the character to press ready. This is really bad design. The roster is pretty lacking. The only character I enjoy the inclusion of is Zorro, but he’s in the public domain, making him not that special. Yandere is also pretty cool, but all these characters have the blandest move sets and it doesn’t help that the attack button is literally right next to the action button, making it super hard to control on a keyboard. The stages look nice, I guess. The only one I have a problem with is the 2D one, because while a game like Smash separated the foreground and background for their flat stages, but this is just an image for a set. The stage transitions are really cool to look at. It’s probably the only exciting part of the game. The animations for the cartoony characters are spot on, but then you look at Cole Black and see his lack of facial expressions or emotion and feel uneasy. Keep working on this, but this is unacceptable for a Steam game. 10 dollars at that. Not even the extra content can save this game.

Soul Saber 2

Soul Saber 2

There are three good things about this game: boob physics, costume damage and optimization. Those minimum requirements are spot on, it’s hard to find a PC that won’t run it.

But the camera view is so disorienting during melee combat! Combat goes from slowish from afar to “what the hell is going on” when you’re close to the enemy. Maps feel really bland and generic. The gameplay itself only feels fun when you’re playing with larger teams. The menu interface keeps spinning around, which is very bad on the brain.

Real player with 5.5 hrs in game

There is no manual camera control, but jumps around automatically from one enemy to the other as they die or as you move in and out of their range. The firing is interesting with the requirement to let go of the trigger to improve accuracy, but enemies respawn so quickly and combat occurs from such a far distance that I don’t really get a sense of satisfaction. The melee combat is fun to use while being able to be defended against, and I also like how the clothing damage appears on different places in different games, as opposed to just exposing the privates only every time. But even with these positives (along with the character selection), the negatives I mentioned make it so that I don’t really enjoy playing this game. I really gave it a chance.r

The good:

Lots of fast fun frenetic action, plenty of game modes.

Audio track is decent.

Good menus, extensive controls and customization.

Responsive, capable developer.

The bad:

Hard to see some items, visual style is lacking and can make things unclear sometimes.

I’ve played the local multiplayer several times with friends and have had a great time playing. The variety of game types and settings provide a lot of options for replayability. I can’t wait to play the campaign once it is released, especially since it can be played coop. Cymatically Muffed is reminiscent of older classics while still providing new and exciting mechanics of it’s own. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
