Shell Out Showdown

Shell Out Showdown

Shell Out Showdown is a wonderfully engaging game that is also incredibly polished for still being in Early Access. Game play is smooth and enjoyable both with friends and solo against computer players. I love all the cosmetic options available in the shop and the overall art style of the game is top-notch. Highly recommend to any and all types of gamers!

Gameplay is similar to a platform “fighting” game with the rather unique spin that you and your competitors are a bunch of vending machines trying to get rid of all your concessions. It’s not the sort of mechanic I ever expected to see in a game like this but the execution ends up being a hilariously hectic good time.

The controls are tight and movement mechanics are familiar. I’m especially a fan of the dash. The pixel art is cute and fun, and the music is top-tier. And you can even customize your character with effects and paint colors and “buddies.”

King of Crabs

King of Crabs

The game is one of the more fun .io games I’ve tried, and most of the reviews being left saying it is pay 2 win are by people who either watched a streamer blow over $700 to get Alien crab or played one match and got clowned on/never learned how to play. There are some very real concerns and issues with the game, but the pay 2 win aspect isn’t one of them.

Pros:

  • The two best crabs in the game (Stone for never losing a fight and Spanner for never dying) are both in the second most common rarity tier. They can be easily unlocked by completely free to play players within the first few hours of playing.

Terribly unbalanced pay to win game with a very limited lifespan. Soon the game will be crawling with Top tier crabs like Alien crabs etc. the game has a pay to respawn system with increasing costs. This was built to encourage “revenge wars” like a crappy scam on habbo. It even puts a skull and crossbones on you killer to get you to attack him again. The game was fun at first but now that players are powerful they can field very powerful crabs that a new player cannot possibly hope to win against. not to mention the fact that there are clans now teaming in larger teams than the 2 man buddy system in a free for all game making it nearly impossible for solo players. this game is dying fast and its the most most ruthless players that are going to kill it. As they say xqc is going to curb stomp till this game has no player base. This game has tons of bugs and other pay to win features. Enemies and NPC crabs can spawn on you and kill you in a heart beat. you can have your best weapon replaced by a stick and then killed with your own king hammer thanks to things appearing under you. Basically be prepared to die randomly sometimes with little or no sense which is very annoying in a survival game.

The Culling 2

The Culling 2

I never played the 1st Culling, have only watched my favorite streamer play it a lot, and bought it because they wanted to plan matches vs. subbies. I play PUBg casually, and it’s not my usual genre, but even so could immediately see the easy access to everything and overabundance of guns totally killed the original melee and crafting fun. The size of the map and lack of players, game machiniques are also a problem. I’m in Europe, never could get a game on EU server at all. I can understand why so many people are angry, but you can make it fun if you don’t take it too seriously, but for the price?

Ok… here we go…

I wrote a very long twitch thread to the developers regarding this title. The things that I can say that are positive:

  1. I’m glad the announcer is back

  2. The recoil control feels really, really good. It’s erratic in a good way.

The bad:

  1. They missed the boat on the character customization aspect by a mile. They needed to be WAY more over-the-top with the outfits and craziiness that would be this type of a game show.

  2. They missed out on the gameshow feel of the game completely. The only thing that even makes it feel remotely like a gameshow is the starting area. After that, you’re in a typical battle arena.
