S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is slavjank at its finest. While the game has aged relatively well, one must still keep in mind that this is a game produced with shoestring budget and had a somewhat troubled development cycle. The caveats in mind, STALKER is an excellent semi-open world shooty-survival-y romp with a decent story to it. The story is told through a few cutscenes, but mostly through either someone radioning you and telling something has happened, or through a dialog box before or after a mission.

Honestly an absolute legend all around, theres always things you’ve missed or hidden spots you havent experienced after you’ve played the game leagues of times, and the lore only goes deeper from here. One of my favorite games of all time, and the beginning to a legendary series.

I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream
Captivating Point and Click Adventure
I enjoyed playing through this game twice, I’d say that if you’re interested, you should pick it up.
It’s a story-based game inspired by the book of the same name by Harlan Ellison (who voices the character of AM in game).

Good, but this game was developed in the ’90s, so you can imagine that the graphics will reflect that era. The graphics are not bad at all. I’d say that they still hold up somewhat and the graphics don’t take away from the game.

Make no mistake about I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream….it is NOT a horror game, at least not in the typical sense. It’s not trying to make you jump in your seat and scream in shocked terror. It has no interest in what many would call “cheap thrills”. Instead, what this game wants to do is provoke your thought-process. It is a very cerebral game, with dark undertones that force you to think about the dark side of humanity, and whether or not there is redemption for our fatal flaws. It isn’t afraid to present you with disturbing topics such as suicide, rape, even genocide, and make you deal with them. Although there is a tint of light-heartedness, 99% percent of the game is drenched in an atmosphere of hopelessness as you scramble to make amends for the characters' pasts in an attempt to thwart the diabolical supercomputer, AM.

Spec Ops: The Line
About halfway through Yager’s third-person-shooter Spec Ops: The Line, in one of the game’s most controversial moments, I found myself disgusted and infuriated. Not at the scene I’d just witnessed, or at the game’s statement as a whole, but rather that it even needs to be said at all. Two of the ten bestselling video games of all time are Grand Theft Auto V
and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
. The “military shooter” is one of the most successful genres of the last ten years, and the objective of these games is to kill people. Lots of people. We eat it up non-stop, and always, always ask for sequels seconds. In order to keep the profit margins wide, we are encouraged to never think about it, to never stop and look at ourselves with a critical, compassionate, clear eye. Of course, it’s not only Hollywood that benefits from the blinders we’ve all put on, since only the desperate and crazy would fight our wars for us if it weren’t for the glorification of war peddled by the governments of this strange, sad world upon which we find ourselves spinning through the abyss.

Spec Ops The Line is a great third person shooter, with a very dark story, there are some tough choices to make and the game really knows how to portray mental illness. It certainly is a must have.
Dubai has been hit by the heaviest sandstorms in recorded history, John Konrad volunteered the 33rd to help with a relieve mission in Dubai after their tour in Afghanistan. You play as Captain Martin Walker who served with Konrad in Afghanistan, you have 2 Delta Force elites under your command for the mission, And you are being sent to Dubai for a recon mission. Once there you find the horrors of war find out what the 33rd did and go on your own mission; Revenge. The game forces you to make morally heavy choices, or choices will be made for you. I won’t go in too deep because I don’t want to give any spoilers, But I think it is a great representation of war and the effects of it.
