The Lord of the Rings Online™
The game is dying. Devs are making feeble attempts at re-vitalizing it but it’s just much too late. For too long there were zero communication with them, for too long they haven’t been playing their own game. Just look at this steam page - when was it last updated, 6 years ago? Fixing LotRO requires rebuilding some systems from ground-up and nobody does this to a 10 year old game.
The main problem with LotRO today is that it’s BORING AS FUUUUUUUUUCK. Even earlygame is spoiled somehow. I can point my finger at auto-learned skills and quests that don’t need turning in. You just feel disconnected from the world.

If you’re a Tolkien fan, you should love this. It’s a lot of fun seeing how much care and attention has gone into recreating the world of middle earth.
As an MMO, it is one of the best ones out. It is certainly more geared to solo players, but does a good job of catering to everyone. The classes range from basic to some of the most advanced and interesting classes I’ve ever seen in an MMO. (Take Warden or LoreMaster for example)! The community is also one of the friendliest and the servers are still busy and alive to this day. It has stood the test of time and still looks astonishingly beautiful as ever. Add to all that it has fantastic mood setting music you’ve got a class A product. Many players simply can’t stop at a single character and over the years I have kept on coming back to this game. Without a doubt my favourite MMO ever. It’s also great to see the dedication of Standing Stone in keeping their work alive and keeping lotro safe for the future years with a decent, not overly greedy free to play system. Much of the content can be enjoyed for free and extras can be bought as required. The only time you may consider spending money is to open up quest packs in different regions and expansion packs. But considering the size and amount of time you could foreseeably spend in this masterpiece, it is well worth it!

Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword
This game is fantastic. I’ve put hundreds of hours into it, and I’ll likely put hundreds of house more into it. Takes place in the real world in mid-17th century Eastern Europe. There’s 5 factions; Muscovite Tsardom (Russia), Sweden, Poland, Crimean Khanate (Crimea, which is a location in the game), and the Cossacks. You’ll meet people from these areas as well as Spaniards, Frenchmen, Germans, and even Scotsmen. There are muskets, and because of the time period, they come in a variety of flavours. Home made, matchlock, wheel lock, and Miquelet (flintlock) are the main ones, in order of quality. Accuracy is in short supply of course, but I do believe there are some rifled muskets in the game, however they are VERY expensive, and not something you can give normal soldiers. Only your own character, and heroes.

With Fire and Sword, a Winged Hussar’s wet dream (at first glance).
The cover of the game might wow you with it’s fancy looking armor and “updated” gameplay, but once you have it, it gets boring quick and the lack of options is a huge disappointment.
Unlike Warband, this game doesn’t have a troop/progression tree. Instead this game just has you upgrade troops to “veteran”, and while that might not be that bad, the lack of variety can get really old, really quick.
There is no diplomacy, at all, ever.

Spec Ops: The Line
About halfway through Yager’s third-person-shooter Spec Ops: The Line, in one of the game’s most controversial moments, I found myself disgusted and infuriated. Not at the scene I’d just witnessed, or at the game’s statement as a whole, but rather that it even needs to be said at all. Two of the ten bestselling video games of all time are Grand Theft Auto V
and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
. The “military shooter” is one of the most successful genres of the last ten years, and the objective of these games is to kill people. Lots of people. We eat it up non-stop, and always, always ask for sequels seconds. In order to keep the profit margins wide, we are encouraged to never think about it, to never stop and look at ourselves with a critical, compassionate, clear eye. Of course, it’s not only Hollywood that benefits from the blinders we’ve all put on, since only the desperate and crazy would fight our wars for us if it weren’t for the glorification of war peddled by the governments of this strange, sad world upon which we find ourselves spinning through the abyss.

Spec Ops The Line is a great third person shooter, with a very dark story, there are some tough choices to make and the game really knows how to portray mental illness. It certainly is a must have.
Dubai has been hit by the heaviest sandstorms in recorded history, John Konrad volunteered the 33rd to help with a relieve mission in Dubai after their tour in Afghanistan. You play as Captain Martin Walker who served with Konrad in Afghanistan, you have 2 Delta Force elites under your command for the mission, And you are being sent to Dubai for a recon mission. Once there you find the horrors of war find out what the 33rd did and go on your own mission; Revenge. The game forces you to make morally heavy choices, or choices will be made for you. I won’t go in too deep because I don’t want to give any spoilers, But I think it is a great representation of war and the effects of it.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
Review
Van Helsing is sold pretty cheap every now and then. Despite the huge success of the first game, the sequels and the final cut which bundles all the games in one huge playtrough got very bad reviews. I am not a huge fan of hack & slash rpg´s but i like them sometimes so i decided to give the trilogy a shot. I managed to finish the game in a long session after 2 days and had lots of fun with this game.
Gameplay
Van Helsing doesnt really do anything new that any other game in its genre didnt do already. But what they did was adding the best aspects on many games and combine them. That doesnt mean the game is perfect, its far away from that. The different aspects work good together and offer a solid foundation for a great game.

Stop what you’re doing, do yourself a favour, just go buy and play this game. Or wait for a discount, it’s your wallet after all. I mean who am I to tell you how to live your life. I heard that they give you discounts up to 70%, which is always great. But this game is worth to buy either way.
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, to which I’ll be referring as “TIAoVH” from now on for convenience purposes, is a great game with it’s gothic/steampunk atmosphere and memorable characters. The game takes place in the 19th-century Eastern Europe where magic and weird technology is real. You play as the son of the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing and take on various adventures in order to defeat the reign of the mad scientists Dr. Fulmigati. Of course you encounter a wide variety of enemies from robots to werewolfs, harpies to mutant abominations, bandits to creatures that’ll be the very seed of your nightmares on the way. I mean, come on, it wouldn’t be a Van Helsing game unless you get to kill tons of different mobs. Also, your lovely ghost companion Lady Katarina is there to help you out along your journey. The balance between the characteristics of charming and witty Katarina and more down to earth, serious Helsing makes the dialogue in game much more enjoyable.

Austen Translation
This is a cute, casual game inspired by Jane Austen’s works and the culture of her time. Each game is fairly quick to play (about 10-15 minutes), which turned me off at first, but then I decided I liked that since I can play it even if I don’t have much time. I love the graphic style, and the game play is amusing. It did take me a few tries before I really got the hang of it, so don’t get discouraged it you’re confused at first.
I was a little worried about replay value, but the game has more variety than you’d expect at first glance. Each game has the socialites attending four events, each of which is briefly described. The events are selected at random, so you can play several games in a row without much overlap. (There are some random variables in the descriptions also, where the names and preferences of different bachelors are inserted.) I’ve played probably two dozen times or more and there are some events I’ve only seen once or twice.

Greatest Regency-era YAWHG-like in the Galaxy!
Alright, so you’ve played The YAWHG or Monster Prom and want more of the same, right? Well, sorry to disappoint, but this game is far fancier and schmancier than anything else EVER. One might say, all other games are NOCD.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that if one wishes to make an Austen homage, one better get the language right. And by turf n' thunder, Austen Translation accomplishes this and more. The geniuses at Worthing & Moncrieff parrot Miss Austen’s prose, pacing, style, themes, memes, AND manage to get the historical details spot on.
