Thukothea Defender

Thukothea Defender

Just finished Thukothea Defender (on normal - still working through hard!). It’s a fun little tower defence game with a heavy focus on effective use of special abilities and a resettable skill tree that lets you tackle levels with different strategies.

The graphics might not look like much but it’s a lot of fun to play. Only 6 levels and 2 difficulties so it’s short but it’s sweet. Resettable skill tree let’s you experiment with playstyles. Fun.

Information / Review English

Andalia combines the game styles of strategy and real-time strategy game, which was developed by Joel St.

Gameplay / Story

In terms of time, the game is set in antiquity and has similarities to the successful Age of Empires. At the beginning of the game you have a main castle, town hall and a farm at your disposal, which is the starting point for building up the further economy. More residents have to be created quickly, who now erect buildings in order to be able to grow and mine various resources: food, wood and other resources. Combat units can be created in some buildings, while technologies can be researched in others. Towers and walls can be built for defense. There are a total of 5 factions, which are divided into Academy, Zikkuart, Refuge, Bastion and Castle. These differ in terms of different unit types and buildings.A game is won by default by defeating all opponents, some of whom are well hidden on the map and can also be found in the underworld.

King of the Universe

King of the Universe

In the 24th century BC, the Sumerians have turned the land of Mesopotamia from a simple Cradle of Civilization to the home of empires. It is your mission to take control of the kingdom of Kish and conquer your enemies, in order to become Lugal Kiški, King of the Universe.

The Sumerians, or “the black-headed people” (Sag̃-g̃i-ga in their native tongue), were the first people to invent both civilization and writing. Their well-organised and state-run societies make the perfect setting for a strategic video game. In King of the Universe, you will not only try to conquer your enemies, you will also have to take care of your own people.

Through military means you gather land and slaves, and through economic means you build new structures for your people. If your citizens do not produce enough supplies to quench your war machine, you will fail. If you do not protect your citizens from foreign invaders, you will fail. This game is about balance, and only by finding it will you become King of the Universe.

  • Tiles

Claim tiles and build or destroy structures. Watch your people go about their day-to-day lives.

  • Wealth

Garner Silver and resources, such as Food, Metal and Tools.

  • Troops

Build an army, and order your soldiers around. Follow your individual troops with the camera.

  • Slaves

Collect slaves when conquering foreign land, and use these to build new structures in your kingdom.

  • Citizens

Keep an eye on the hunger and health of your people. Make sure every class in your kingdom has enough money to survive.

  • Pricing

Decide the prices of wares in your kingdom, to control the economy to ensure profits for your state.

  • Trade

Buy and sell with the other empires, to build relations and gain an extra income for your war machine.

Volcanoids

Volcanoids

It’s a bit more objective oriented than the usual craft/survival game I’m familiar with, especially with the cyclic nature of needing to dive underground with your mobile base during the frequent disasters. Having it as a mobile base was rather refreshing compared to other settings where the base is in one location and that tends to make resources convenient or not. The version I played was a while ago, and at the time battle was rather simple, and there didn’t seem to be too much benefit to use any weapon aside the hand mortar and grenades but I have to emphasize that was during the version I played.

Gun play is fun, and it’s exciting to see your ship being built bigger and bigger. The hot keys were a little weird at first but not unacceptable. Overall, I like it.

rawr im dragon. its a great rts game with a slow start. 8/10

This is a nice game, you build your empire by constructing and upgrading buildings, building up defences, expanding your empire to other planets/locations… You can get sucked in really fast if you like this type of games, which is my case… but if you are going to play this game be aware of something that is most likely to happen to you especially if you are playing it to play along side work.

Admins are playing the game.

Attacks will always take 100% of the enemy resources (if the army capacity is enough to take all)

Until We Die

Until We Die

Edit: On review, of this review, I have realised that it does not, in fact, help players decide whether to not to pick up the game. This edit is to prevent potential players purchasing the product without fully understanding what they’re buying.

  • Rather than marketing Until We Die as a completed build, it should be under the category of Early Access. Keep that in mind.

  • Is this game worth $17 USD? No. There is only one scenario that players can play, totalling 20 hours (highly variable) to fully complete on all three difficulties. That comes out to 1.17 hours per dollar.

Real player with 97.2 hrs in game

The obvious caveats:

  • Save feature still needs to be implemented when a full ‘run’ is 2.5 hours

  • Only 1 scenario thus far

  • Launched with one game breaking bug that has since been fixed

Some people describe this as metro + kingdoms but its more like metal slug + metro + farmville + fallout shelter. I’ve beaten it easily on normal and am struggling to get past the 2/3rds mark on seasoned, so I know how this game works. It is mostly a game of LEARNING how greedy you can be with clearing and looting the map with returning to base. High level gameplay is all about knowing the patterns of each scenario to best optimize your strategy. If one side has no attackers one night, that is critical information. If another has a mortar or giant, that is also potentially going to end your game if you aren’t prepared. It’s almost like a 2.5 hour dance choreography or starcraft build order. It’s also a bit of a relay race running from one side to the other hitting all your egg timers to maximize your economy. Time is the most valuable resource.
