Micro Annihilation

Micro Annihilation

Game was just released, but there is already enough content that you can play for few hours. It is interesting mix of XCOM / C&C.

While playing the game you find out how it would be if you would be the size of the ant and you have to survive the onslaught of insects. Sometimes it feels like zombie apocalypse but that there are ants instead of zombies.

You can contact developer on Discord and he will listen to your opinions and try to integrate them in his game. There is normally just few days between updates, so update interval is really short.

This game takes me back to nostalgic days of Starcraft and Total Annihilation. Only now my units don’t always need me to babysit them to defend themselves. The conceit is fun, tiny people versus mutant bugs, and the gameplay is rather intuitive. I’m really enjoying myself :)

I got this game from a free key drawing but I have to say the snes era graphics and sound design fit well, the game is well priced at $0.99, and you will definitely get your money’s worth. Would I do out of my way to buy this game, sure 75% chance I would, for tower defense fans I would say at least check it out, I mean a buck is not much, just know it feels kinda chill, like an easy tower defense game (least from what I played). Kudos to the developer, a nice simple, well designed game at a fair price.

“Yes, Phalanx of Resistance may not be the most gorgeous of games; yes, it may also not be the most polished… but for the incredibly low price of less than $1, the game is definitely markedly better than many other $1, or even more than $1, games that I’ve played before."

Featuring nostalgic 90s-style graphics and art, Phalanx of Resistance is a pretty nice mixture of several genres, namely RTS, tower defense and surprisingly, clicker (I’ve removed “idle” from the “idle clicker” genre… and you’ll see why in a bit). It takes the base building aspect from typical RTS games where you’ll build certain structures to unlock new features, which sometimes means new turrets in this game.

Tried and it’s not bad. Though there is no guidance, you could figure out the way to play this game quite soon. But I do recommend the developer to add tower, skill and user interface introductions into this game, maybe a manual button in the setting menu.

Cannot sell or fix buff tower is kinda annoying and the money quickly becomes useless during the late game play even in second stage. Finding and clicking each resource tower to collect coins periodically does not give player a comfort experience, especially when you cannot move these separated towers. A collect-all button may be a good approach.

Best FPS game I have played. Dynamic gameplay, huge player limit and skilled community make up for a constant hail of bullets and neverending fun as a simple soldier, who needs to teamwork if he wants to live another minute. The strategic aspect is not my favourite (I’m really bad at strategy games) but gives you a lot of fun too when your forces listen to you and you guide them to victory.

Devs are close to the people, the community is loving albeit harsh at times, the more professional part of the community is like a big family (there is hate but they still love each other).

If you wanna get yelled at for not understanding the game from the first minute you play this.

If you wanna get abused by old farts for not reviving them.

If you have a fetish for verbal abuse.

If you like getting your ass kicked the first 72 hours you play this game.

If you dont mind getting overwhelmed by the complexity of this game.

If you have nothing better to do on saturday evenings.

This is your game.

A blend of RTS/FPS/Shittalking/flaming/abuse.

The most noob unfriendly community you will ever meet.

Act of Aggression - Reboot Edition

Act of Aggression - Reboot Edition

I’m a die-hard Command & Conquer fan, having played every single C&C title and expansion from all three universes (Tiberium, Red Alert, Generals), starting with C&C Gold back in 1995 through to the canned Generals Beta around October 2013. My review is written with a strong emphasis on comparing Act of Aggression to Command & Conquer titles.

WHO WOULD THE GAME APPEAL TO?

If you have ever enjoyed any of the “old-school” real-time strategy games (e.g. any C&C title, Dune, StarCraft, Warcraft 1&2, Supreme Commander etc.) which were defined by base-building, resource collection, unit spamming, superweapons, then you definitely should consider this game. These games are vastly different to more strategic and tactical RTS games such as Company of Heroes, Men of War, Wargame series etc. which typically entail micro-management of individual units (e.g. what to equip them with) and careful consideration of where and how to deploy your finite units and supplies.

Let me preface this by saying I was very happy to see Grey Goo, Etherium and Act of Aggression all slated for release this year. I simply love traditional RTS games. By traditional I am referring to the resource, build, produce sub-genre of RTS made very popular by the C&C franchise.

Grey Goo let me down and simply could not entice an audience. Etherium was low quality.

FInally I feel like someone has made an RTS game worthy to be held up against C&C Generals; one of my favorite and most well-love RTS games of this sub-genre.

A pretty fun game with lots of potential. There are some bugs which is to be suspected for early access but they are not terrible. Also, the sounds need to be improved. For the time that I have owned it I have really enjoyed this game a lot. Definitely is a game that’s a lot of fun with friends. I just wish the game included a tips section as I am not really sure where to place my turrets, what quantity of which turrets to place, and the best way to place my walls. A little more direction would help. Overall I recommend it.

wow…what a great game…totally worth the 20 bones i paid….keep up the great work! … it needs more polish, but the overall game is one of the best tower defense games i have ever played….the tank is really fun too….if you pump up the tank speed, you will be a master tank drifter in no time!…..this game will be up there with sanctum and defense grid if they finish it…..we need more games like this…you can play it more chill or more active if u like….easy to get up between waves and make food or whatever(420)… 2 thumbs up!

Home Wars

Home Wars

I didn’t expect too much from the game besides fighting mass battles with plastic soldiers against bugs in the style of Total War but the game has so much more. It’s like total war with around 10-30% the content, only 1 enemy, no diplomacy, management of only 1 base, ammo management, research and battles.

The good:

  • You have to build your main base in the style of total war

  • You have to manage how much ammo you have in stocks

  • The variety of units is great, there are few simple upgrades to unit stats and new units usually solve a slightly different role while being also stronger. (e.g. slow weak cheap artillery = mobile arty = powerful arty = supressive Arty = versatile Arty)

Home Wars is a fun, refreshing and challenging strategy game.

It’s premise are very interesting and ,dare I say, extremelly original when all the element are taken into account.

I personally loves it, because it strike so many nostalgia chord about old games that I like : ( SimAnts, Earth Defense Force, Toy Commander and Army men)

The game despite it’s simple graphics and childish look is incredibly complete, packed with feature , heavy on unit and weapon diversity and fiendishly hard.

However the game have a good number of flaw, gameplay and balancing wise in Campaign mode.

Company of Heroes - Legacy Edition

Company of Heroes - Legacy Edition

Company of heroes is a masterful example of how Detail and polish on even the smallest of elements can marry Gameplay and theme to create something that truly deserves a place among the greatest games of all time.

Company of Heroes is a Real time strategy game with a WW2 era finish, and my god this finish is pristine. The game’s basic gameplay elements (both single player and multiplayer) are unique and offer true decision making and deliberation on your part to be successful; positioning of weapons teams and the will to only fight when you have something to gain is most important of all. Holding territory and maneuvering into a position of power is the game of war, not pointless bloodshed.

I remember having played this game for the first time when it was released. Being a fan of RTS games, especially the ones released by Relic, there was no way I was going to let this one go. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say I was literally hooked from the word go. No RTS before or since has been on the same level as this.

The single player campaign was just brilliant. If I had to point out a weakness, the only one I can come up with is that it’s a bit short. I just couldn’t have enough of it. But it’s not a perfect world. Relic’s competitors can maybe come up with a 20 mission campaign with mediocre results, but this one gave you 13 that were nothing short of brilliant. They were varied in terms of gameplay, offering multiple methods to achieve the objectives.
