I love this stuff. This is a strange cosmic trippy VR experience that makes you feel weird and I like it. A masterpiece of the art form. Thanks for the free experience.

Bought the game as soon as it came out. Was so buggy I couldn’t even play it. I waited a month or two hoping the devs would fix things. I was happy to see that they did in fact fix many of the bugs and were actively working to make the game more like what the players wanted. The players wanted something more realistic than the laser point and shoot method that they originally implemented. I continued to watch the game develop though I didn’t play much. So I was excited to see all the new changes since the last time I had played. I got in and ran through the in game vr setup. I immediately ran into my first problem. I opened the hood, after a little trial and error, and tried to bring up the pie menu… where in the flippin' hell is the pie menu? I pressed “A” on one controller and a tablet flies into my face. Annoyed I moved the tablet out of my way and pressed “A” on the other controller, which made me slam to the floor. Okay, okay, “A” equals crouch or shove the tablet against my corneas. I can live with that. I cycle through the rest of the buttons and stick presses only to find myself unable to bring up the pie menu that i remembered from the last time I played the game. Frustrated by this point, I decide I’m going to quit to the main menu and create a new profile so i can run through the tutorial. Surely that’ll show me how to easily bring up the pie menu. I start the tutorial and go through each station waiting for the very uninformative pop-up (shoved into my face at each station) to show me the secret way of summoning the magical pie menu. When I finally got to the pop-up with the pie menu, it showed that I just need to press and hodl (go doge) the trigger button to bring it up. Oh for Pete’s sake, that’s all I needed to do? I swear I did that, but maybe I didn’t hodl (go shiba) the trigger button down long enough. Must be it. I pulled the trigger and waited… and waited… and waited… four hours later… I decided it wasn’t that trigger must be the other one, right? So I pulled that trigger and waited… and waited… and waited… you get the idea… Didn’t work. I look at the table again. It clearly says to press and hold the highlighted button to bring up the pie menu. The trigger is highlighted, where in the flying flapjack is the pie menu? I gave up trying and quit the game. Came here to read the recent reviews to see if anyone else was having the same issue. Sure enough, there was a developer response telling some one to active that laser first (stick press) then point at a vehicle and hodl (go … crap it crashed) the trigger button to bring up the majestic pie menu that I’ve been desperately seeking. Now are these instruction correct? I don’t know, I have yet to return to the game in order to find out. If I do return one day, don’t hodl your breath (okay… okay.. I’m done) , I will try to come back to this review and update it since if you’re still reading at this point, I have you completely captivated and you must be hanging on my every word. But in all seriousness, why are you still here reading this? I’m sure you have better things to do. I know I do… not… fml

Update:

Had to write one more time.. they have added so much to this game that was not in the original and still surprise me with every new update. Simple things from basket carts to move parts around easier to more advanced VR features that would take to much time to add here. IF you have not or are on the fence the game to me is worth every penny and more..

Edit:

They have already added the system were you purchase new parts and imagen they are delivered to you and you can then manually put them on. They have somehow increased load times and so many other fixes. If you have not tried this game yet give it a go and remember everything people have asked for they are trying to do. Please if you have reviewed this game negatively give it another shot to me they have done more than asked for. I will be looking forward to anything these guys work on in the future.

This experience is stunning if you like exploring space in VR and I love flying around the real terrain, feels like I am there on Mars. I have waited for something like this for decades! Nice one Dev this has become my new favourite diddn’t think anything would beat Lunar Flight so well done. If I could ask for a small request, could we have an untethered from vehicle roaming around EVA function so we can explore freely and an adjustment so we can calibrate our seat position in the rover up/down left/right for the viewpoint. I love it!

PLEASE NOTE:

This is more like a simulator and I would only recommend to people mad about space, mars and exploring.

There is not a lot to do in this experience, no quests or objectives, but what it’s designed for, it does it well so with that in mind and the price its hard to give this a negative review.

Graphics, sound and physics are well polished and simulate the Martian environment really well.

car go brrm brrm very fast much wow

jokes aside, a very good, yet content limited simulator (licensing). Works best with wheel. Mostly for online races - in my opinion single play is just there, to be there and to have people learn the game.

Immersion at the next level - so many things to keep in mind for every game.

I never thought I’d play anything but open wheelers, but ACC changed it forever, and gave me a real appreciation for GT3 cars.

It’s far from flawless - but most of the time it’s just beautiful.

If you are lucky, this might be the worst game you will ever play.

–-

What does that even mean? Let me explain:

There’s good games. There’s bad games. There’s interactive art pieces that use game mechanics. There’s barely interactive media that present themselves as games. There’s training simulators that are set up like games but aren’t intended to be games. There’s… how many of these would you like me to list? Want to talk about interactive movies? What about visual novels? What about… oh, was I wasting your time? Did you want me to make a point about Desert Bus? Hang on, I wasn’t done rambling…

Real player with 1337.1 hrs in game

That’s a great game.

In fact, I realized that it can substitute my sleep time.

For the last month, more or less, I spend my former sleep hours driving this bus and I felt very well the next day.

The only side effect is that sometimes when I’m walking distractedly I tend to slowly drift leftways. No big deal.

UPDATE:

So… Strange things started to happen as I slowly began to expand my daily driving time.

Now I’m nearly driving 16 hours a day and sometimes I have some really weird and vivid dreams.

feels like early access, but fun nonetheless, I hope developers will polish it a bit more, both graphically and physics/damage modelling wise -there is zero damage modelling currently implemented but it doesn’t take too much from the fun of racing

My dad was simply begging to play a VR racing game that used the VIVE controls, as opposed to a keyboard + mouse or gamepad. This one fit the bill solidly! It’s not a complete game (as is to be expected from VR games) but by the time my dad finished playing and got 1st place by .1 seconds, he was giggling himself silly. That alone was worth the (low) price of admission. Get it!

I’ve been following this game through it’s development so thought I should leave a review now that it’s out.

In short: This game is a lot of fun!

The visuals in the game are really pretty, and very atmospheric. I played on high quality at a friends and medium on my machine and I didn’t feel like I was losing any quality. The night tracks are especially good to look at.

One of my favourite things about the game is the way the car “feels” on the road. I’m not really sure how to describe it, but it feels nice and gritty. That’s not quite the right word, but I guess you can just give it a try. The cars feel like they have weight to them and the way they glide around some of the curves in the tracks is really satisfying.

I played entirely in VR on RIFT with a 1070 and Ryzen 5 2600 cpu.

This is no Project Cars 3 or Drive Club VR. There are no licensed cars and licensed tracks. What you get for your money is really fun if a bit unbalanced in places arcade racing game made by a small studio of 2 people over a period of a couple of years or so.

There are 5 types of car ranging from muscle car to F1 type car and they all feel very different to drive. The 19 tracks are all fantasy but really well done and not stupidly fantasy. From figure eights to Daytona to street tracks plus a valcano and ice track thrown in. What I mean by well done is they are laid out very decently. I found myself nicely getting into the groove when driving an f1 car around a street track in a 20 lap race. The rhythm was good and most of the tracks are like this. Well designed indeed.

iRacing

iRacing

There seems to be a lot of confusion on What iRacing is. Although it’s commonly called a ‘Racing Game’, it is really a Simulation Service. You don’t own the program, you purchase the rights to use the content. Very little of the program is stored on your computer, as most of it is handled by the iRacing servers.

Why no ‘trial version’? Well server time cost money, and hosting a solely massively multiplayer experience that is constantly improving is very expensive. However iRacing does provide a 50% one time discount for new members. You can try the service for 1 months for $6. not a limited scope version, but the total service! If you are not sure if a dedicated simulation service is for you, it’s a good way to get your feet wet.

Not for the casual gamer

It’s VERY expensive through Steam… and while maybe still expensive in your eyes its a lot cheaper buying directly through the Iracing website where they offert 40% or 50% deals ( they run those deals for a few months at a time ) for new subscribers. IF YOU BUY DIRECT FROM THE WEBSITE YOU STILL GET A STEAM KEY

it’s a service offered. Yes you play it and like any game and there is additional download content that you don’t ever need to buy. You do however need to subscribe to either a monthly, yearly, 2-yearly term then you can play using the free bundled cars and tracks while running the free series for those cars. That’s it and you do not need to buy anything more however like any business they offer other stuff at extra cost… the business model plays on the fact that you are more than likely going to want what you don’t have while the other folks you normally play with are playing with some of that additional content. it is shamefully addictive

++ Fun to play (social or alone)

  • Nice dubs, nice models,

~ Not as charming like LWA-CoT

  • The OST is not stellar

    • Can’t peep below or behind characters (for academic reasons)

gameplay wise is a Superman 64 with cool controllers

This one hits all the marks for gameplay. A lot of the tracks from South America I’ve never played before and theyre great. The AI is probably the best out of all the racing sims I’ve played, they’ve got personality and they don’t drive on rails, you have battles with them no matter what position you are. The rain and lightning storms are excellent and it looks good even on low settings. It sounds great, some of the cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 or the Australian Supercars sound exactly like the real thing. The only thing that needs work is navigating the menu with a racing wheel. Its kind of a hassle and sometimes you need to use a mouse to change or save settings.

I’ve been having an incredible time with this sim and I want to see it grow. It deserves it. After the work reiza has done with the madness engine, especially after this most recent patch, it feels nothing like project cars anymore… In all the good ways. It retains all the freedom - and more - that you had in setting up races exactly how you want in pc2 with physics that are much more near other “good” sims. Better in some cases imo. The cars just feel awesome to drive and behave how I would reasonable expect, as well as setup changes producing the results that they should.
