OMSI 2: Steam Edition

OMSI 2: Steam Edition

This is still the best bus simulator. It is a good improvement on OMSI 1.

MAPS/VEHICLES: The Spandau map is much extended with a new chronology function where you can see the routes/fares and most importantly the Berlin reunification/fall of the Berlin wall between 1986 and 1994. Two maps are included the fictional test map Grundorf (one route, the 76) and Berlin Spandau (routes 92 (137), 5 (130) and also two night routes. Two new buses come with this game the articulated (bendy) bus MAN NG272 (GN92) and the MAN NL202 (EN92). The two double deckers from OMSI 1 are improved and the MAN SD202 has two new variants; the D90 and the D91. There are new AI cars including ambulances with working sirens. There is also much more trains in OMSI 2.

OMSI is a deeply odd and divisive creation, it is at once both an abysmally dire example of horrendous software design, while also one of the profoundest delights available to those with a passion for buses.

Learning the many arcane processes for getting this simulation to work is no small feat. Don’t bother trying to suck-it-and-see - there is no realistic chance of you fully getting to grips with OMSI inside the 2-hour limit for refunds - it requires an enormous commitment of time and energy to achieve a working understanding of OMSI. (In that respect, I suspect it’s not unlike actually learning to drive a real bus).

American Truck Simulator

American Truck Simulator

American Truck Simulator is another production from the great SCS Software studio. Considering how they care for their players in Euro Truck Simulator 2, it couldn’t be otherwise! The creators once again prove that the games they create are complete products and the support does not end when the game / add-on is paid for, but all the time! Soon there should be an update of the state of California, the original state that appeared with the game’s premiere over 5 years ago and is still being improved and adapted to current standards both visually and technically.

American Truck Simulator (ATS) is the new title of the simulation created by SCS Software, which makes us live an adventure with our truck all around breath-taking landscapes and well-known places in USA. While you are travelling you will see the most famous architecture, for example The Golden Gate in San Francisco or the famous casino or hotel in Las Vegas. ATS is expanding more and more and this shows how SCS Software cares about making its product dynamic. We will play the part of a truck driver and we will travel on roads and highways with different sceneries in the background, such as desert, little populated areas or very busy metropolis. The unpublished system of event available for everybody and everywhere, thanks to the various upgrade, makes our adventure more interesting. It randomly creates accidents, parked cars and construction by the roadside or in the highway, reducing available lanes and blocking in cars, including out truck. Be careful when you are travelling because the police are always around the corner! Moreover, the fine collection system has become stricter than it was in the past, both because of the increase of the amount of money you have to pay if you exceed speed limitations, if you go right through red lights or if you cause accidents, and above all because patrol cars, which could normally drive through traffic or be hidden behind buildings or billboards, can give you a ticket at any stage; this makes the player pay attention to speed limitations, which vary according to each state. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8QocRQKJMk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NfkIrItLtI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCJkbGj7des ATS natively supports mods and communities, considering that the game engine is the same as Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS 2) and this has made many changes be able to replace the lack of official trucks and has made the game more realistic and longer-living. In ATS you will also find a managerial section in which you can purchase your truck (getting into debts with a bank, if it is necessary), customizing it according to your tastes and you can also choose among a list of several interesting jobs dedicated to those who have decided to freelance. You can also hire drivers, purchase other trucks and create a big machine which can make you earn a lot of money. At this stage you could also purchase warehouses and expand your business in other cities. Moreover, your driver can increase his level and get experience scores which you could use in different sectors, such as fragile or luxury goods, trafficking length, special transports (e.g. explosive) and rush deliveries. This happens above all when you meet longer trailers than they were before, so that also a veteran of this saga needs some time to get used to the driving of these new means and to park them. Actually, it is possible to choose the difficulty of this latter: normal or expert. In the normal version the maneuvers which are necessary are on the same level of ETS 2, in the expert version it becomes more and more difficult because you are required to park your trailer in little areas and overcome obstacles. ATS is a title in which developers have focused more on quality than on quantity of contents. For those who have experienced ETS 2 this could be a negative point, however the realism takes advantage of it and shows places and situations which are always different. I suggest that both those who experienced its predecessor and those who are neophytes buy this game. I highly recommend this game! Okay, so obviously I’ve played this game a ridiculous amount of time. I can be a little obsessive about getting a game going JUST RIGHT so that I can build my empire. That having been said, I still have not explored all of the facets of the game as of yet. Now I have not played the previous versions of this game, so I didn’t really know what to expect with it, and I have to say that my girlfriend made fun of me for days after purchasing and playing this game.

Here is what makes it so awesome:

Not a bad game at all, very realistic in most aspects, but very very buggy at times.

The wood chipper is a prime example. It is so buggy and underpowered, it makes one think that these guys have never seen one in action. Once they grab a log, there is no going back, it is shredded. Short of turning off the equipment, there is no way to get the log out of it. In this offering, your main task is to get the log to go INTO it. Even when it does, there is a very high chance it will be just spit out again. Actually all trees can get very buggy at times. Ghost logs, screwed up cuts, ( they are still attached to the main log even though cut off), trees that decide to disobey the laws of physics. ( standing verticle instead of falling over)

The game is ok. It looks more like an early access then a full game but this is the problem with all german simulators. They never seem to be full releases.

The game has two modes of play: Arcade and Realistic. In arcade you pretty much think only about driving while in realistic, you need to face a lot of other details like changing gears and passanger requests.

The AI is quite dumb but this makes it more realistic becasue there are a lot of unexperienced drivers out there in real life too. Somehow, the driving feels more realistic then in ETS2 or ATS. Maybe it is because of the map scale which is bigger and the roads are longer. Also, it feels more alive because of the passengers comments on your driving when you are speeding or having accidents which makes it up for the lack of music during driving.

[UPDATE 07/10/18] Played the 1.18 beta. Honestly its still not any better than before. Sure its a little more pretty now, but the performance issues still remain to this day. AI is still garbage, cities drop in performance, and lol what physics? They’re still barely there. A bus doesn’t slow down while going downhill. (and no, neither the brake nor retarder were active) At least they got the slow down-ish sorta right when going uphill. So… they got it.. half way there?

Even though its a beta patch, I’m leaving this as my final revision of the review. I whole-heartedly do not recommend this game and have zero faith in TML Studios of doing anything competent with this game any further. Flickering graphics are still a problem since the day this game was released and still have not been fixed. Bus physics are still wrong or non-existant, and AI will probably remain garabge. The only two points where this game is decent at is that the bus models are fine and the overall world looks a bit better. Other than that, there’s nothing else to say about this game that I haven’t already said here, or in the Steam forums.

On The Road - Truck Simulator

On The Road - Truck Simulator

i would say yes and no for recommanding this game the game is oke for the most part but the thing they need to fix are the AI on highways for the most time the just stop driving for no reason and the steering with mouse, keybord, controler the steering is way to akward to use it is just to slow with steering that you can’t play the game without a steering wheel.

i like that you have thing that euro truck doesn’t have like box truck, semi and combination trucks and that you can get out of the truck.

Well I couldn’t wait for this game to be released today. But what a dissapointment. No wheel Support at all and i did manage badly to get my pc 360 controller to work but its still not good. I was not impressed with the graphics compared to Ets2 or other driving sims I have. For a game in “Advanced Stages” it’s very poor. Avoid for the time being untill they have got it fixed. Needs Wheel support and done to the standard of other good sims with ffb. I think Multi screen support would be nice too. I am a fan of Early Access but after playing with this for about 30 min i gave up as its not playable in its current state.

I first discoverd rfactor when I was at a car fair that had an F1 simulator. So when I went over to have a go I enjoyed the F1 car model and the sim that came with it. Since then I was clueless to know what the name of the software it was using until now when one day I was looking through Steam and when I randomly found it I said to myself “Hang on! This is the same sim that the F1 simulator was using!!” So I downloaded it, Installed it on to my computer and gave it a go out of the box and it became my main racing sim ever since.

First things first, this game is old. 10 years old. Don’t come expecting much in the way of graphics, you’ll be disappointed. If you want graphics, go for a new sim like Assetto Corsa,

Second, the base game content sucks. If you don’t like modding games, don’t buy this game.

Third, this is damned fun. The AI is highly adaptable, I have found. None of the awkwardness of being too fast for one difficulty but too slow for the next one. The modding community is enormous, IE to scales I’ve only really seen beaten by Bethesda RPGs and FSX. Want F1 cars from 1982? Got that. Want Indycars from 1998? Got that too. Want Argentinian Touring Cars, Australian GT cars, or British Formula 3? It’s got all that.

Traffic City

Traffic City

If this is the Early Access version this game has LOADS of potential. To begin with you have a choice of vehicles to drive around a city which adopts a traditional ‘grid iron’ street pattern with a roundabout in the middle. On the whole the AI is quite good and precise and all the junctions which have them feature working traffic lights. Beware though: The steering left / right is a little ferocious if you keep the A / D or arrow = / = keys depressed. Fun / addictive / quite inspiring. I hope to see more from this game soon :o)

This game is the testament for Human Endurance. How much are time are you willing to listen to the same annoying song for 2-3 hours. Knowing you get 2nd place you have to restart the entire race which each race can last up to 5-20 minutes. You’d probably be saying, “Oh how bad could it be.” Believe me, this is the worst 2.2 hours I have spent in my entire life. They should give this game to the military for mental endurance training.
