Open Wheel Manager

Came back to the game there hoping it would be better. Still same issues. Crashes randomly(can’t even finish 1 lap of a race), doesn’t give an error code or anything. Shame, great concept.

EDIT - Was crashing because of a mod I was using I think. I recommend the game, modding it is quite fun too

The game is still being developed but it is already entertaining. Using Motorsport Manager to make a direct comparison:

What OWM does better:

  • Engaged developer who is dedicated to improving core product as opposed to shelling out DLC and shitty mobile apps.

  • Open communication with community. It’s very easy to get in contact and very quick responses.

  • Mod support is being better prioritized and supported (tracks will be moddable).

What Motorsport Manager does better:

  • Graphics and racing simulation model are superior

Jalopy

Jalopy

Jalopy is already a lot of fun to play in its current stage. It’s a small and simple game, not one you’ll likely play through an entire night’s session (although once I almost did), but one you’ll probably want to come back to again and again for another quick round or two.

There are many cute details that make it different from most other driving and racing games in existence. First of all is, of course, the titular car you’re driving. It’s an old, ramshackle and unreliable car that is quite unpredictable and takes a lot of maintenance. While other games might have you perform chip tuning, adjust your gear ratios or put some embarrassing neon lights on your car, you’re going to be dealing with much more basic stuff here. Hope you’ll make it to the next gas station with that popped tire, adjust the oil-to-fuel ratio for your two-stroke engine, or decide whether you’re going to sell your air filter so you can afford an extra can of gas for the road, just to be sure.

Version 1.0 but feels like Version 0.1

**In short:

  • Buggy

  • Lacking Content

  • Menial

  • Buy on sale ( 50%)**

Introduction

Jalopy is a game most car enthusiasts and gamers alike will enjoy, should it be properly finished. The player takes the role of a nephew charged with the task of taking their Uncle on a journey across the fallen USSR in an old ‘restored’ Liaka 601 (Trabant 601), collecting various (sometimes prohibitied) loot found on backroads and highways to keep their car running and their wallets packed to book hotels; and buy upgrades. Jalopy has an interesting and somewhat unique experience to keep players entertained, just a shame its very short and has little replayability; with the added ‘bonus’ of bugs present throughout.

Another tractor with a dead engine? The combine does not start, and the harvest is just around the corner? The workload grows like mushrooms after the rain? Sounds like a great opportunity to also grow your wealth! Say hello to Farm Mechanic Simulator, a game in which you step into the shoes of a successful mechanic who knows all the nuts and bolts of farm machinery.

Accept or refuse orders from local farmers who may know about sowing and reaping, but cannot take proper care of their machines. No wonder you’re their last resort. Do you feel the weight of the local agriculture on your shoulders? Grab a wrench and act! The machines won’t repair themselves.

Your workshop is your kingdom, the tools are your subjects, and the ramshackle tractors and harvesters are just waiting for you to squeeze the last pennies out of them. After all, there’s no engine that can’t be granted a second life in your machine SPA. The business is going well? Expand your workshop, equip it with high-quality tools and get better orders.

Before you start repairing, perform an in-depth analysis of the damaged machine to find the source of the problem and make an accurate diagnosis. Then you can roll up your sleeves, ask the customer: “Man, who did this to your tractor?” and get down to what mechanics like best – making money on repairs. However, remember to test the vehicle well before handing it over to the client!

(Note: Do not let the amount of time Steam says I’ve played this game fool you. I’m almost always offline when I play. Besides, I don’t believe I could unlock nineteen achievementsat the time of this writing.)

Management sims are my favorite genre of games and I love Formula One, so this game immediately took over possession of my heart, life, and soul. I strongly recommend this game to any fan of management simulations. And what if you don’t like Formula One or auto racing? Then you’ll be more forgiving of some of the game’s flaws than I am!

    • Update - having been too busy to play for a while (a 5 week period) I had another crack at this and have been blitzing it again recently…

I also become a bit of a Team Principal god, with 5 WMC team championships under my belt… I was starting to get a little too used to the routine of my seasons though (not bored, just too familiar) and so I changed teams and decided to have a crack at a mid tier team in the WMC, to pull them up by the boot laces.

This has re-ignited my passion for the game and having now completed 5 races in the new season, I have secured 2 podiums already. Loving it and considering I won 5 WMC titles in a row (with a Red Italian team), including one season where I achieved 15 out of 16 wins (30 podiums that year too), I cannot believe that I am now again just as pumped to finish a race, avoid a DNF, get some lowly points and grab two (lucky’ish) 3rd place podiums. My target is 6th overall this season, following years as the Champion… this is weirdly as exciting to me as winning week after week.

Tourist Bus Simulator

Tourist Bus Simulator

After spending a whole weekend playing it, I will say as a coach management simulator it seems to be pretty good however as a driving simulator it seems to lack somewhat.

Firstly there is the Land Rover lookalike you use to travel the map when you aren’t using your coach… it’s driving dynamics are very poor, let go of the accelerator and the car almost stops, meaning I spend most of the time with my foot slightly on the accelerator to get it to cruise properly, or chuck it in neutral if I’m coasting. The gearbox just causes too much drag and alot of time takes too long to change gear causing it to lose speed, if you can’t do a SUV gearbox right, just do without it and make it a single geared electric drivetrain. God it’s frustrating to drive.

Awful game. It’s a shame I wasted $30 on this, but I know for sure that I’ll never buy another TML-Studios product again. I used to play Bus Simulator 2012, but quickly got tired of the bugs and awful performance, and uninspired gameplay. Well, sadly, the same issues persist with this game. I bought an SSD just for this game to run better, but even on the lowest settings, there is still lag. I’ve got a GTX 1080, 16GB of Ram, and a 4.0 Ghz Intel processor, which handles other games like a dream - and they look much better graphically. Some YouTubers said the graphics are good in this game, and I disagree completely. They aren’t awful, but they’re certainly nothing to write home about.

TL;DR: A decent enough game if you get it on sale. 6/10

A pretty good logistics game with too many indications that the game was just released/abandoned rather than being polished.

Potential Spoilers Below

  1. Frame rate drops and graphical stuttering are the most obvious things, but the game also taxes GPUs way beyond the level you would expect for graphics of this quality.

  2. A couple of game-breaking bugs that only affect achievement hunters. Quest mode sometimes generates tasks that you can’t complete, but since quests are random it only breaks “some” playthroughs. This effectively kills the ‘Quest Mode Professional’ achievement. ‘Perfect Efficient Planning’ doesn’t trip even though ‘Fully Efficient Planning’ does. Since the ‘Perfect’ cheevo is simply for completing the conditions of ‘Fully’ 3 times, it should be possible but just doesn’t work. These two bugs obviously kill ‘Trophy Collector’ for completing all achievements.

Ran into a problem where I was trying to switch trailers on trucks and the trailers would be unmovable and not sellable, and it would take up trailer slot.

I do enjoy the ability to pick a radio station from its big selection.

I enjoy these type of games but felt like this game isnt completed yet and rushed with all the bugs.

Edit: 11/12/2017

I decided to do the other modes of the game since I really enjoy playing logistic management games. Everytime I played a game I encounter a new bug. I haven’t experienced any performance issues, but I would give the game a positive review once the in game bugs are fix, since the bugs I encountered tend to be game changing for the worst.

Excellent game. can’t stop playing it

Needs a few tweaks is all

1. I have multiple monitors, would love approach on one screen, ground on another and airport on another . not all crammed into a single screen

2. Why can’t we put approaching aircraft into holding pattern if we don’t want them to land ? Standard stuff.

3. Freeplay shouldn’t end after too many errors .

4. Freeplay should also allow us to choose the intensity of the timetable, you simply cant do Tokyo in the middle of the day on your own , I’m sure several ATC staff handle those area’s in the real world

Short Version:

8/10, looking forward to expansion packs

Long Version:

This might be the best ATC game on steam (that is not primarily focused on radar usage).

In Japan, this dev has released numerous games not only in this series, but also previous instalments of this series such as I am an Air Traffic Controller 1 through 3 (ATC 1-3) and other series such as Pilot Story. It is also worth noting that this dev had released multiple Japanese Airport add-ons for FSX, showing that they are quite experienced in terms of aviation in Japan and 3D-modelling.

Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game

Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game

30-01-2020

So i’ve played this game since a very early version on the ‘Kee’ game engine back around 2011~2012 (long before it came to steam). The game has grown a lot over the past decade and the small development team keeps improving it on a steady basis.

I only rarely review a game and I will be very honest about my feelings on this one and go a bit into detail since I feel this game needs this kind of review.

Target audience:

This game has a very specific target audience. I wouldn’t recommend this game to casual gamers. According to me, the primary target audience could be described as ‘persons who enjoy getting into the technical aspects of designing consumer cars and their combustion engines’. The secondary target audience is ‘persons who enjoy running a car company and try to be a succesfull tycoon selling their own car designs’.

Managed to create a Pinto that didn’t explode…and then I put a Turbo V12 in it…then it exploded

5/7

In all seriousness, Automation is a great ‘build-a-car’ “sandbox” as it is right now. If you are at all interested in car design you should give this game a look. While you will not get the same designability if you were to design the car in CAD or some other program, for a game (and it is a GAME, not a toolset) the options are numerous and your creativity is the real limitation. Seriously watch the vids (though they are of earlier builds and dont show everything available) and look the discourse forums for this game and see what people have built.

Bus Simulator 16

Bus Simulator 16

UPDATED (ALMOST 1year after release update)

Sadly, not much changed in a year. Optimization is still requested by many which implies they havent dealt seriously with the problem. Only 2 DLC have been released and I see them as pure money grabber. They are not offering anything new than buses but those buses look exactly the same as the ones already ingame. The only difference is that they are branded MAN or Mercedes-Benz which (due to having to pay the right to the brands) are ridiculously expensive for the amount of content (and the usefulness of the said content has still to be proven).

I seriously can not understand where the hate this game is getting comes from. It does exactly what it says on the “box”, and does it very well. While not a perfect game by any means, this is a great effort from a smaller company, that fills a niche I’ve personally desired for over 10 years.

When I was a young lass, back in my high school days, I used to take the public bus to commute to school and back, and also to travel from place to place on my weekends. I spent hundreds of IRL hours on various models of IRL busses, and I always wanted to try driving one. This game finally allowed me to live my fantasy. I honestly never thought a company would ever bother to make a bus driving game, but Bus Simulator 16 actually goes above and beyond that, and includes management and a bit of strategy as well.
