Blub Emporium

Blub Emporium

This game is truly unique, colourful, and bubbly (or I guess you could say blubbly ;))

While playing through this game, the first thing I noticed was the vibe it gave when I was watching the emporium sell, the blubs buying items or sitting down, maybe even playing on an arcade; It is really something else, especially with the soundtrack adding to it; It sounds relaxing and ambient, yet it sounds like there’s a powerful meaning behind every song.

I also find that the factory is super fun! It’s puzzles are very challenging, but very possible; Meaning it has a very nice balance! The Farm has a lot more depth than most would initially expect with how you can harvest items and whatnot, you can even automate some parts of it! :O

I’ve played a few hours and it’s very fun :)

Really cute aesthetic which is a blast to decorate, a relaxing farm which is super therapeutic, and (my favourite) a really interesting factory which plays just like a puzzle game! (with a ton of potential to improve at, optimise, and experiment with).

This game is a perfect example of being worth more than the sum of it’s parts, and there’s something in it for everyone - it’s not the sort of game I would normally play, but so far I’ve had a blast, and look forward to playing more (THERE IS SO MUCH CONTENT O.O)

Needs some work on bugs, mechanics, and missing materials.

I recommend this game to people who have patience working with incomplete builds and like a challenge. Otherwise I would recommend waiting until some more kinks are worked out. The game has a lot promise. I’ve enjoyed and will continue to enjoy paying it. Below I’ve put some more detailed notes on challenges I’ve encountered.

After five restarts I’ve managed to create a fairly stable colony of over 100 dwarfs that I believe can grow further as long as I can get the dwarfs to live in a dwelling within a reasonable distance to their assigned job. Spreading out clusters of dwelling cells centered around their respective taverns works fairly well but the dwarf AI doesn’t always pick the closest dwelling to live in and when I try to choose specific dwellings I want them to live in they reassign themselves to another dwelling. This means I have the occasional dwarf dying of thirst because their job is too far from the dwelling they chose to live in despite the fact I have empty dwellings available that are much closer to their job.

The current state of this game has a lot of problems, most of it regarding the A.I.

Current Problems:

A.I. Dwarves will spend a lot of precious time idle even with dig spots and tasks needing to be queued

Due to poor A.I. and pathing, A.I. have trouble depositing and retrieving needed items from vaults

Due to this above issues, even with enough mushroom farms, a brewery, and a honeywell, they fail to create the process of beer

due to not creating beer, theres no supply to the tavern, which in turn causes your entire workforce to turn into dark dwarves

The current state of the game is raw, and offers around 4-5 hours of steady progression, but is not limited in playability.

  • Easy to find your way around and has a great introduction quest line

  • Fun survival game that often rewards exploration

  • Death/Home Totems FTW!

  • Crafting/Alchemy is easily digestible and offers a moderate selection of recipes at this time

  • Building is fun, but it takes time to collect the resources if you want to make your home look good.

I’m looking forward to seeing the future of Epocria, I’ll be sticking with it and would recommend others to pick the game up or follow its progression

Review Date: Nov 20, 2021

I wrote a giant review, and then after reading through it, realized my opinion was more like no than yes, and when I changed it, Steam erased everything I had written. So, rather than do it again, I’ll just drop some bullet points. I’ve been playing since early in Early Access, so that will color my review.

New overworld trade system is terrible. It’s boring. It’s grindy. and it doesn’t work. I’m at max rep with a faction, and have yet to see the “subversion” mission mentioned in the tutorial.

A decent time killer as-is, but released far too soon for the ambition they sought to achieve.

  • Settlement milestones are sparse and largely uninteresting, with few “make your own goals” opportunities to fill in the blanks. You will pretty much always build the same structures in the same order, and most structures are not actually all that useful.

  • Overworld is shallow and brainless, with pawns moving around for the sake of moving. Factions have no personality or storyline aspects, and the “war” has nothing to make it compelling or interactive. This is actually a bit of a downgrade from the initial concept at the start of Early Access, where there was at least a good vs. evil kind of thing going on.

So I bought this somewhere beginning of februari 2017 (just after the EA release), as the initial concept seemed good but the execution was still a bit rough. I was hoping those things would be fixed being as it being early access and the developer was actively working on it.

Over the months, I’ve seen many great improvements and bugfixes, but it seems it actually released two years after that (march of 2019), which I didn’t even notice because there were still a lot of bugs, including some that just crashed the game to desktop.

Overview

Production Line is a real time strategy game in which the player manages an automobile factory, gets their finished product to market, and hopes that their product sells quickly. Despite what’s said on the store page, Production Line doesn’t test the player’s entrepreneurship skills that much. (And far less than “to the limit”!) The main challenge players will have, is laying out their assembly line within a limited amount of space, and hope that their design is efficient enough to prevent logjams. (Or mitigate their effects as much as possible.) Production Line allows for research in which the player can unlock new technologies to place on cars and advanced technologies for assembly line production, which further breaks down the division of labor, but also allows for the placement of said technological advancements to place onto cars. (The player would think that advancements like anti-lock brakes would magically appear on cars upon being researched, but instead require a department specifically dedicated to brake-fitting and purchasing the upgrade for brakes.) A separate research path exists for automobile designs allowing for vans, SUV’s, and pickup trucks, and within this research path, the player can also opt to research new types of seats and rims to help give their cars more of a competitive edge.
