Dota Underlords
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review, because at 217 hours of game-play at the time of writing, I have invested a lot of my time into this game. I’ve played since the first publicly available build, so feel I have enough experience to critique this and its development as time has gone on. And for anyone wondering I capped out at Lieutenant IV, hardly a rank to sniff at.
I enjoy this game, I really do, when the game goes right it hits that sweet spot so well and you come away with a shiny new rank knowing you were the best of the best in that game.

I wish I could recommend this game. I really wish I could. But I feel like Valve took an idea they didn’t create, and without properly knowing what was good about that idea took it in their own direction, which ended up ruining what I enjoyed about the game. I played entirely too much of this when it was in beta, and I enjoyed every minute of it, even when things weren’t entirely balanced. The polish Valve put on the game with the interface and coding was just miles above the competition. Perhaps its better now, but TFT wasn’t even a game when Riot released it. I feel Valve had a great head-start on the competition, but I feel they’re ruined it, and while I don’t have access to player numbers, I get the feeling those would back up my claim.

Godhood
Godhood is an excellent game - innovative in its approach and as full of character and life as we’ve come to expect from Abbeygames.
But what makes it special?
In short: It’s a God-Game where the people and religion are what matter.
It’s not you, the deity who is doing the work: it’s them - your disciples and followers. It’s their ideas, their society which are important, and the character and life your religion gains as it grows is down to them. You give them a push (sometimes a rough shove) in the direction you want to be right, but it’s them who’re doing everything.

TL;DR: Godhood is a great management game. While the god-theme adds a lot of flavour, at its core it is a game about customizing your roster of disciples to synergize with each other and to prepare them for the unique abilities some boss fights have. A surprisingly deep strategy aspect is hidden behind a system that at first looks very basic and random.
This review has been updated for the 1.0 release.
–Core gameplay–
This is a roster management game. Since even Steam’s tagging system seems to get confused by this, let me repeat: This is a management game. Think Football Manager/Motorsport Manager, not strategic-turn-based-fighting like Darkest Dungeon or sandboxy god-game like Reus.

Hero’s Hour
If you’re interested in Hero’s Hour, please wishlist and follow us :)
Hero’s Hour is an accessible, yet-deep and content-rich Strategy Roleplaying Game. Take control of your hero, explore the world, build up your town, fight fast-paced battles, level up your hero and amass an army large enough to take out the opponents - before they take you out.
Turn Based + Real Time
While exploring the overworld and developing your town and army are both turn-based, giving you time to think and plan out your next moves, in battles your units will do the best to fight for themselves in real time - all hundreds of them. Cast spells and give attack orders to swing the tide of battle - or just sit back and watch as your might unfolds.
Procedural Generation
Hero’s Hour brings impactful procedural generation to the strategy game formula, ensuring that every time you play, there will be new areas to explore and strange buildings to enhance your hero or army. Seek out obelisks to start you on small procedural quests that send you around the world. You won’t even be able to use the same build order each time you play the same faction.

Age of Gladiators
The “potential scenario” listed in the “About this game” section is a surprisingly reasonable introduction to the game. The options suggested there truly are all available to you, and the considerations involved are also real. However, it also implies a bit more freedom of choice than is truly available. Regardless, if the ‘potential scenario’ looks compelling to you, that alone is probably enough to suggest you would enjoy the game.
The game is solid, and worth trying. I will list what I believe the strengths and weaknesses are, with a primary focus on the weaknesses. I will focus on the weaknesses because overall, the game works. The game is fun. You will see that I feel like it has a lot of as-yet unrealized potential, but that does not mean I do not think this is a solid title. It is quite solid, and while it does some things wrong, it does plenty right.

So this game has been out for well over a year and there’s no one new buying this game anyway so there is no point to me writing this review. But I’m going to do it anyway because fuck you that’s why.
As you can see by my stupid number of hours played in this game I actually enjoy it. Seriously I don’t know how the hell I played this game for 41 hours without blowing my brains out even once still astonishes me. I suppose it’s because I am a big fan of management simulation games and what’s cooler than a gladiator simulation game?
