Need More Troops

This game is like an indie version of “King’s bounty” minus story and budget, plus random map generation, rogue-lite elements, and auto battles. Enjoying it so far.

Very good game of HOMM stripped of all that fiddly tactical combat nonsense. Actually, I like the tactical combat nonsense, but this game does retain some of it. What I never liked was running around collecting my troops from their spawn points and this game does away with that entirely.

The tactics remains as you really do need to consider your enemies' disposition as well as your own. You don’t need to shuffle your units around too much (those stupid archers are the problem), but switching between their skills is very critical. I made one mistake this last game and it cost me dearly. However, I had time to come back and regroup. I still may have lost if the final troops had been a different composition. As it were, they completely played into the strengths, of both my leader and remaining troops.

Swarm Queen

Swarm Queen

So, I discovered the free version of this game on Armor Games/Kongregate, but Adobe Flash is garbage and I wanted a better experience, and I wanted to support the indie developer, so I bought the game here and am beating it again! Very fun, a little crude and simplistic, but it has complexity and challenging difficulty in its own way. Would definitely recommend!

Swarm Queen’s gameplay is pretty straight-forward (though actually quite nuanced); you play, well… a swarm queen! And other swarm queens typically don’t take kindly to you - so you try to murder each other for survival and space. Spawn harvesters, develop eggs, hatch creatures, spew acid, even grow more organs, and take down your enemies… before they can take down you. Each level has its gimmick, and it may take a few tries to figure out how to get through it….. and then you can try it on hard mode :D

a simple, easy to learn game that is simultaneously challenging. each level is different to the last and consistently requires you to change up your strategy prior and during battle as the enemy adapts in accordance to how you play. this can lead to some pretty lengthy and intense tug of wars that you don’t find very often in other games. although it’s pretty lacking in content once you finish the main levels, there’s some bonus levels that are fun to play, as well as upgrades to give yourself an advantage in battle. definitely recommend for those looking for a good strategy game.

Bloody Rally Show

Bloody Rally Show

200 character summary

Bloody Rally Show is an absolutely unfair rogue like top down racing game with very nice controls and 4 player split screen, earn money, Kill peds for nitro, use weapons to kill, Anything for the win.

Story & Characters 9/10

You wake up in 2084 as a custom protagonist You had an accident in 2021 and where put into a cryosleep, to pay it back you have to compete in the most popular form of entertaintment these days. It is a dystopian future and the global economy has been taken over in the year 2030 by that big tech company you should know about. When they focussed on Entertainment and noticed Rally was very popular in the 80s because of the high accident rate so surely enough Bloody Rally Show was born. It is very popular so social media influencers are always on top of the action to get those likes, no matter how dangerous it is.

Let’s backtrack a little bit, one year or so later, when I was bored out of my mind for games. I am a fan of top-down racers, things like the original Death Rally and others, and I saw this game. It looked really rough with sort of 3d car models in a 2d environment, but the game had something that stuck by me. Generated roads and a hint of rogue-lite. So, I was interested and unexpectedly, I was received a key, in return for something - FEEDBACK. So, I did my best I could. Let’s fast forward to where we are.

Sketchbots

Sketchbots

It’s a great concept for a game and it’s executed on very well here; I really want to like this game, I really do. However, there are just a couple of complaints that I want addressed.

1. There’s no way to detect the orientation of other bots.

2. There’s no way to store learned information, the bot can’t create a mental map of the environment or do anything else that would require knowing more then what we just did 1 turn ago.

Real player with 3.6 hrs in game

I really enjoy this game! I like the challenge of only being able to recall the last action instead of storing all previous actions to memory, it makes me feel like the bots are very primitive, in a good kind of way. The potential here is really huge, I could see hundreds of puzzles to play from the community one day being a thing. Speed running, do it in X challenges etc. This game deserves more love and attention!

Vivid Knight

Vivid Knight

This is a cute roguelite and auto-chess crossover. It’s very strategy-focused, and the difficulty makes it quite addictive, but some balance issues begin to detract from enjoyment once you’re deep in the game.

The Good

The core game play is roguelike, with your character exploring a maze and fighting monsters in turn-based auto-chess-esque combat. Each step consumes mana, a limited resource that refreshes on each floor, and your team begins taking damage when you run out of mana, forcing you to be efficient in your exploration.

Welcome to Auto Chess Darkest Dungeon, But Cute.

Jokes aside, this little game so far is one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. I do quite like the auto chess formula, but this game takes a quite unique spin on it which makes it really enjoyable for me.

I’ve seen a lot of reviews making comparisons to TFT and they’re not entirely wrong by drawing the said comparison.

That said, if you’re familiar with games like Auto Chess and TFT, there’s a few things this game does a little different.

Legend Creatures(传奇生物)

Legend Creatures(传奇生物)

It’s something like a card based version of DoTA / League of Legends.

You have a hero hierarchy in play, and get to select a few basic DNA cards, and when you get 3 of a kind, you can merge 3 level 1 cards into a level 2 card, and when you get 3 level 2 cards, you can get the level 3 cards, which are the ultimate cards in the game.

Here are the following attributes of each race :

Human Males : receive defense and magic defense buffs and share buffs with friendly cards

Human Females : receive +30% attack speeds

This is an auto battler, like in an “old school” way. The graphics at least. The English translation and some of the menu layouts needs work. I have not looked it up, I’m sure I can, well hopefully. But other than figuring out the main LOOP of this auto battler, I have no idea what most of the games menu’s say. If there’s another game mode, or way to unlock more items\creatures. I’ve still yet to randomly stumble across it. I paid full price to support their project. Certainly a little blind faith in that regard, lil bit of faith nonetheless.

Gratuitous Space Battles

Gratuitous Space Battles

If you get this game, get the complete pack. If you already have this game, get the Campaign module. Without the Campaign aspect, the game is very limited and ultimatey you won’t have much to do.

But with the campaign, while it is VERY limited to just building fleets and maintaining them (with no other 4X concerns; all structures are pre-built in any given system), it becomes a completely different game. Since the fleets are uploaded from players, you’ll always hit new interesting configurations for specific systems; add in all the special per-system rules that you need specialized ships and the concern of maintaining supply lines for your fleets, and it becomes a pretty engrossing game that requires far more planning and leaves you with the threat that the next attacking fleet might have your number with a counter.

Never thought that creating ships to blow alien ships up for no apparent reason or logic whatsoever could be so fun! :D

What you basically do is to design ships which, when deployed in battle, will help defeat the enemy fleet. Every victory you win will give you a credit like reward called Honour. You use this ‘Honour’ to buy new shiny gadgets or weapons that blaze nice looking beams of death onto your enemy.

There is no actual story line. The game is basically composed of about 14 setups (counting the tutorial battle aswell as an additional 9 setups when including all the DLC’s, which brings the number up to 23) which all offer a different challenge along with a certain species to go against. This means that just because your ship designs and the fleet you deployed were successful against a certain race in such a scenario, doesn’t mean that you will be as successful in another scenario with a different species. Not to mention certain scenarios having something called ‘Spartial Anomalies’ which can affect how well/poor your ships perform in terms of their weapons and defences.
