Venice 2089

“It’s hard to forget a city like this”

The city of Venice, once a significant tourism destination but now almost uninhabited, is struggling with the unpredictable behaviour of tides. Some of the most important monuments are being taken away, among the complaints of the citizens, and the lower part of the city becomes inaccessible more often than not. In Venice 2089, you’ll explore the city through the eyes of Nova, a bored teenager who has no clue about what to do in life and just wants to relax from the stress of their usual routine. Yet tides change for everyone without exception…

  • Venice: Use your hoverboard to chill out and navigate the streets of the city in a unique 2.5D artstyle. Perform tricks and match your mood with the right vibes.

  • Characters: Meet diverse characters scattered throughout the city. Know their personalities, learn their points of view and help them in different quests.

  • Drone: Interact with the world using your drone. Collect objects out of your reach and hack into corporation billboards.

  • Memories: Fill your house-boat with important objects, and remember the experiences you made.

  • Tides: Tides are unpredictable and will change the way you travel. Learn new routes and explore newfound places.

  • Soundtrack: Enjoy a dynamic soundtrack, combining the vibes you pick up on your hoverboard.

~FUN INTENSIFIES~

An enjoyable game, I really appreciate my run! Considering it’s the developer’s first game, I must say I’m really impressed. You can feel it was made with a lot of passion and a lot of reflexion to make it nice. There are a lot of secrets so don’t rush it and take your time to discover everything!

The world is truly immersive, I was really touched by the story and I liked discovering it all along the levels. The MC is incredibly LOVELY (he’s so cuuuute when he walks!! Even when he dies. Which sadly happens often with my pitiful skills).

Simple but enjoyable atmospheric platformer. Well constructed and fun to play through - can be completed quick if you’re good, but the puzzles are fun enough to keep you engaged.

CONCLUSE

CONCLUSE

CONCLUSE is designed to look, feel and play like the retro games of the PS1 era & labelled itself the ‘Rare, lost and found PS1 horror’. In some ways it works superbly but in other areas it makes playing it such a struggle while the gameplay is based around key-hunting & puzzles to open up further locations in the game. Is it worth a play? Well, it’s a freeware so there’s nothing to lose but read on to find out if this is for you…

The game starts with the voiceover of the male protagonist Michael recounting his long search for his missing wife Carolyn. The screen shows a black & white grainy effect of Carolyn driving towards a town called Hell never to be seen again.

Do not write off this game. There’s something here, there’s a solid concept, but the execution is a bit off-key. I understand that this game intends to harken back to late 90s PlayStation era horror, but when the commitment to authenticity goes too far, it leads to immense frustration. This is a key-hunting game, much like the first Silent Hill. Find object A, use on roadblock A to get to object B to use on roadblock B, rinse and repeat until disappointing ending.

As for the story, it’s quite intriguing, if also very derivative. Through the poor pacing and comically bad dudebro-sounding voicework by the main character (which I assume was intentional to replicate video game voice acting from the time), one can glimse into a darker realm, a parallel world to our own, much like Silent Hill’s Otherworld, or, dare I reference something more recent, Stranger Things' Upside-Down. You’re constantly messed with from the start, an inaccessable save file beloning to someone named Caleb, along with glitched objects, stare you in the face as you wander through the subway station and dockside area of Cordova, and things only get more tense and even panic inducing from there. As far as I can tell, there is only one point where you can die in this game (I assume, I was able to escape unscathed), however, I was on edge almost the entire time. Almost.

Doomsday Vault

A great exploring game with fun tasks and an important message. Lots of nice puzzles to solve with a great atmospheric style!

Doomsday Vault is a puzzle platforming adventure that’s super chill, with a really nice soundtrack and lovely art style. The difficulty definitely ramps up over time, which is a nice and welcome challenge. I like that it isn’t super hard from the start, so you’re able to slowly learn and get used to the mechanics. The customization for the lil space suit is super cute; I have a bunch of fun updating it.

I think this game is suitable for gamers of all ages; I can see kids having a good time with this as well, although it might get a bit challenging in the later stages.

Let It Go - How to realize your dreams

Let It Go - How to realize your dreams

Took me a good while to figure out how to do everything, but it was worth it in the end. The dream I ended up realising was amazing (which was “COOKIES”, if you must know)! That speedrun mode is nerve-racking though, goddang, lol.

Really good game overall though, most unique thing I’ve seen in a hot minute! The concept kinda reminds me of Half Minute Hero (which I wasn’t a massive fan of), except everything is 3D and there’s no battles.

Can’t say I’m a massive fan of your progress fully resetting everytime you quit and come back though. New game and load game options would be nice.
