Review by Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam.

|

Is this game a masterpiece? No, certainly not. It is still an interesting cyberpunk adventure with some shooting, stealth and hacking.

In the near future, everyone wears an implant in the head, but your implant is different. It has been modified without your knowledge, and it seems that someone wants to kill you because of that. You have been working as an unimportant employee at Securtech, and you obviously got this experimental chip as a guinea pig. All your colleagues who also got the experimental implant have already been eliminated. What a nice coincidence that the person who designed the experimental chip, the busted CEO of Securtech, also has a little problem atm, and needs your help. Maybe you two can help each other?

An atmospheric cyberpunk shooter with interesting comic book aesthetics and a pumping soundtrack. Gameplay feels a little repetitive but the story is short enough to keep your interest.

Foreclosed is a narrative driven cyberpunk shooter set in the style of a graphic novel.

Evan Kapnos awakes to the news that the company who owns his identity have gone bankrupt and his account has been foreclosed. He has lost his job, his implants and access to areas around the city.

The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt

There are games that are beautiful to look at. Others of immense depths in gameplay or story. Some have amazing soundtracks and sound design. Few can boast to have all of the above. Red Dead Redemption, Halo CE, Mass Effect 2, Borderlands 2, Divinity Original Sin 2, etc.

Although the Witcher 3 doesnt have the most profound gameplay (a weaker point in that regard, but in no way a low point), it has all of the others.

If i were to write an in-depths review, i’d need hours and hours and obviously, more than the 3000 characters allowed. So i’ll cut to the chase.

I got to this game rather late, and had honestly written it off as bad due to the…short comings of the previous two games. Having now played it however, I can say that it was worth it, and largely enjoyable. Mechanics, while not perfect were a vast improvement over previous entries. The narrative was honestly fantastic. The various methods and means to defeat monsters, and the difference in difficulty between running in half cocked or just taking a few short moments to plan and prep were great. It’s failings are fairly simple and not entirely surprising.

  • Atmosphere, visuals and audio
  • Super dumb story. The game goes full retard on the last twenty minutes.

There are so many good reviews on the plot and the story line and I don’t get why. Personally, the story is a huge disappointment for me. It was obvious from the start what actually happened. The ending is ridiculous - why would it end like this? As far as I’ve seen there is not much variety in the endings.

Sometimes it wasn’t clear what the hell I’m supposed to do or where to go. The place is huge, but you only need to visit couple of places.. The bug with the first crawlspace…ugh…Silly phone talks when you need to talk about various items in the room you hang up and re-dial again. There was so much potential with the ghosts in the hotel. I expected so much more from this.

God’s Basement

God’s Basement

Ever heard of “The Backrooms?”

It’s one of those creepypasta-type things that makes the rounds from time to time. The basic idea is that you can fall through the walls of reality in certain places and get trapped a sort of limbo in the form of an endless labyrinth of empty rooms, like a deserted office building. The aesthetic is grounded in this whole idea of liminal space, like a threshold frozen in a suspended state between one place and another. People and other things may come and go from this borderland, or else they wind up stuck there forever.

This game is a chore, and had potential.

God’s Basement is a Walk Sim that set’s up a nice idea of uncovering your story through death, and sending you down a tragic past. Guided by a voice called “The Operator”, you walk down a dark paths to discover a grim truth……. Then that’s about where the game leaves your peak interest.

God’s Basement is a lot of fluff with little going on. You play James, a man who’s dead, and figuring things out. With the “The Operator” overseeing you through the walk down in the Basement, you encounter some really creepy scenes, and setups. The problem with God’s Basement, or few problems at that, are that the setups are poorly executed. You see a button puzzle, and the game just expects you to get it down with no hints or sense of understanding. You hear a phone ringing, and have to avoid answering it, but wouldn’t know that without trial and error. The puzzles are a chore in God’s Basement. They really grind your sense of interest to the bone, and after a chapter, you’ll just lose interest more and more. You collect text logs along the way to fill in the gaps of the story too, which are nice, but have a dry feeling to them.

Join gulman in his gulventure in this revolutionary shooter. Gulman must save the artifacts of the world as he kills terrorists and solves mind boggling puzzles. (example of hard puzzle: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/387533107344965633/569444681369518080/unknown.png )

The Artificial Intelligience is immensly smart, able to put up a fight against any player while their amazing voice acting will make you think its a real combat scenario. The intense fights should remind you of classic shooters such as Masked forces, Arma and Doom. The amazing graphics look like photos rather than a simple “video game” like the competitors.

Yummy Girl

I’m not that good at puzzles but I got through it. Pretty challenging game with some cute girls, and some girls who are not so cute. This 3D anime lewd art style that’s common with games like this was always pretty hit or miss for me though.

A sliding puzzle girl themed around girls and food, there are 12 levels in total. Difficulties vary but you can reset if you get stuck, and none should take too long.

Achievements are tied to solving the puzzle and watching the images after completing.

This game is great!

The game does a great job of taking an idea of a society like the one seen in movies like BladeRunner (or fuckin Pluto Nash) and expands on it. The world has enough new elements to make it stand out.

The main characters are great and you really do end up loving them. The side characters are also great in how funny or wacky they are while sometimes being effectively used symbolically to highlight real world issues and topics.

While the controls of the ships can be a little wonky everything else is pretty spot on.

I had my reservations about this game to begin with, I thought it was going to be yet another 8 bit style game trying to be something more impressive. Well, I was quite wrong, this is a good game with a good storyline and impressive graphics with out of this world lighting. My only criticism is the rigidness of the story every answer and every question is already planned out, now normally I wouldn’t mind that layout but I feel the game deserves more. There is a lot to love about this game, I felt sorry for control and was invested in Rania’s life enough to keep playing. A good game with good characters and fantastic lighting, man I love that lighting :-). One last thing to add, the city is glorious, fascinating to drive around and big, very very big.
