This is a 26 minute, mostly cinematic experience with some very basic interactions, running on the Unreal Engine. It is unpleasant visually and audibly, at times. It is artistic, experimental, and just plain weird. I think it may be autobiographical from the dev and it certainly feels at times as though he is talking to himself mostly and then sometimes at you.

This was pretty wild to me when I played it back in the day on Viveport. I think it had a different name. It has a unique art style with very high contrast and funky pixelation and color grading. I don’t know what those words mean. I don’t really understand the theme, something about game development. Wolfenstein 3d is name dropped once, and is likely the most memorable part of the experience. I liked the last scene on the beach where the gummy bears down by the water look at you. You might also notice a certain review blurb down on the steam store page. That’s me! What happened was I uploaded the viveport video, and the developer was like ‘hey can you please remove it’, and I demurred. Now I understand that I was in the wrong, and should have complied with their polite request. Other VR developers (3-4 at least) have clipped my youtube videos and I’ve gotten strikes just because I had the temerity to say that their game sucks, or sometimes that the game is good!

! To that end, fuck Yur.fit, fuck Claude Monet, The Water Lily Obsession, fuck Djinni and Thaco 35 dollar endless tutorial experience, Fuck Trauma Simulator, etc. It’s like Quantum phsics where certain VR experiences dissappear when byteframe looks at them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVdBevEpJ-c

This is the least interesting of the three Oubey VR experiences. You just fly above a world real quick and it repeats. The other two had tinges of interactivity that made them much better.

! II’m eating Wasabi flavored Edamame right now. Usually Wasabi flavour is just horse radish, but not here. I think I prefer the horse radish. https://youtu.be/WqKib_tL5GE

I’ve followed this game ever since I watched Node play it on their channel. Since then, I’ve followed gameplay videos and watched their development, hoping for the day I could play it. Once I finally got my VR headset, it was the first game I bought. And I can only say it was well worth it. Shortly after, they fully released the game, introducing more features, new sound design, and a cool new map. Today, the gameplay never gets old, and I enjoy challenging myself both at the keyboard and in the headset. Every game is different, and it challenges your approach and attention to detail. Great party game if you ask me - the fun never ends. My only complaint is that one of the maps has a bug that affects the headset with glitchy movement (disorienting), which is a shame - I love the art and music in that level. Team Panoptes, if you read this, please try to fix this issue. After that, I will have no further complaints over what I consider one of my top favorite VR games.

This is the only multiplayer VR game I have truly enjoyed. Panoptic brings great innovation in the VR genre! I hope to see more local multiplayer VR games with headset vs keyboard/mouse players.

Currently, the game has 7 levels, all beautifully and intricately designed. Some are easier for the Challenger, others are easier for the Overseer. Settings allow you to tweak the difficulty to handicap either player. Playing in VR as the Overseer truly feels like you are overseeing a world of minions doing your bidding. Playing as the Challenger makes you feel small with tense game play and a struggle to survive. It’s amazing how well the developers made two very unique, asymmetric experiences in one game.

This is a charming casual puzzle game geared for kids. I think it’s meant to be played local co-op with the a parent to play with their child. Either can play the giant spirit using motion controllers to move objects or crank levers, while the other moves around the cute little Seeker around the puzzle level.

The game consists of 1 chapter and 20 levels. It took me approximately 2.5 hours to complete, but I did have to repeat several of the levels because I skipped out on collecting eggs early on (and then later the game didn’t properly record my egg finding). You can play the game perfectly fine seated or standing single-player or for local co-op the other person can control the seeker with a gamepad or KBM.

Containment Initiative

Containment Initiative

I’m a big fan of zombie shooters, and so I offered to help test the game when the dev was looking for feedback.

Containment Initiative’s big differentiating feature from other zombie shooters is the gunplay mechanics, in particular the reloading. You get the same pressure as in other games with zombies coming at you, but now you have to manage working your gun correctly, and it seems so perfectly suited for VR. A few other VR games are going this direction, but this is the first time I think that it’s been applied to a zombie shooter.

I was a bit skeptic about this game at first, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was. I originally was just looking for a co-op game to play with my friend and it really delivered. The ability for a friend to play as a support unit on the PC screen was a pretty clever mechanic that I really appreciated. My favorite game mode is scavenge since you can move around and explore. There’s not a huge variety of weapons and enemies, but I didn’t expect anything crazy. The story isn’t amazing either, but it follows a progression that leads up to a post where you have to get a sample of the virus to find a cure. I hope to see this game develop more or more games that follow this co-op mechanic.

A decent little VR dealie where you are inside your eyeballs and you poke those little protein string things that you see when you close your eyes.

! Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid, I see you there, lurking on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it’s all right. You are forgiven. https://youtu.be/caYivJqRSys

Loved it… After some 1 hour playing…. It´s great board game. Didn´t tried the original one. But this VR version is awesome. Very easy to play. Quite difficult to beat. Totally recomended to relax with your VR visor. Played on Oculus Quest 2. Standing up and seated down.

Carly and the Reaperman - Escape from the Underworld

Carly and the Reaperman - Escape from the Underworld

Review changed to positive after returning to finish the game.

Our initial few hours in the game were plagued by controller issues: the PC player’s controller would periodically stop working.

What we managed to play we loved though, and after returning a few months later controller problems seemed resolved, and we got through several worlds worth of excellent levels.

Another break happened when my headset needed warranty repair (not this games fault!), and when we came back again our progress was stuck. New worlds wouldn’t open up, and the hub NPC’s dialogue was back at the start of the game. Our progress was all saved; every level we entered correctly showed all the collectable fireflies were still caught, but we had to play through every (now empty) level again in order to advance the story.

My wife asked to write the review for this one:

“Carly and the Reaperman is even more fun than the trailer suggests! I had the happiest of times playing with my husband. His platforming skills made him the best choice for Carly and I played as the Reaperman. With its beautiful art style, increasingly elaborate level design and a seemingly simple, yet very poignant narrative, Carly delivers one of the most creative VR experiences that I have ever played.

That being said, it does have some flaws. Several glitches in the game resulted in lost progress, forcing us to repeat some of the most difficult levels. In one instance, we found a way to cheat through some pixel perfect platforming just to avoid having to repeat the entire puzzle for a 2nd time.

am liking it so far just needs a few tweaks here and there but hey that’s what early access is for.

few complaints and hopes

1. flatface is kinda boring to play at the start being stuck in a locked room for %90 of the game isn’t very fun not as much of a problem once survivors get the lead out and start opening doors.

2. vr for da monstar. this is said to be done later we’ll see if it gets the budget to do that.

3.index support same deal as before said it will be done later but early access can be a bit of a gamble

Edited review -

I had this game set to not recommended, dev didn’t seem dedicated to it IMO. However one of my(and others) biggest complaint did get addressed, only one of each key. The dev does seem to be working on the game still and it’s a fun concept, its based on Damned the Asymmetrical horror game that pioneered this entire genre (Dead by Daylight came along a little later).

I’ve already lost interest in the game my self, but if you wanna give a try I say go for it. You will know in an hour or two if you like it. Player base is currently very low so I recommend you only get this is you have friends to play with….Although they did add a single player mode I see.

the perfect combination of immersion in the gameplay and the adrenaline that every episode in this game provides. it gives true pleasure.

I’m not, why there is still no multiplayer here, in which we could compete who will be the first to reach the finish line, or at least the honor roll.

in any case, I also really liked the single player game. I will wait for new additions to the game (for example, new locations or a choice of a motorcycle).

it seems that with such a game I understand that it was not in vain that I bought a vr helmet :)

beautiful and detailed levels, good and dynamic music in this game makes your adventure on the rollercoaster more interesting and breathtaking!

the actions take place dynamically, “slow motion” turns on at dangerous moments and it immerses you incredibly deeply into the game and makes the gameplay very exciting!

I absolutely in love with this game!
