GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon
So, my first thought about this game was: “Hold up, Konami’s making games again?!”
Second thought was: “….and it’s a niche title and NOT a more recognised name.”
Third thought was: “…. and sh!t, it’s quite good! Even for early access! You guys OK down there at Konami HQ? Just that you’re acting like…… well NOT Konami.”
…In all seriousness though, taking the rogue-like approach to a metroidvania title is an interesting spin, and fundamentally, it works well. Gameplay leans heavily towards being more tactical and methodical than it does being stylish and fast. And since you have limited ways of healing, you’re forced to consider how best to dispatch your enemies while taking as few hits as possible. It’s not quite dark souls, just enough to keep you thinking.

Writing this review while playing the v0.4.10 update (Nov. 4th 2021), and the game is in Early Access so take the review with a grain of salt upon further updates. I like this game and can’t wait to see how it evolves but at this stage I do not recommend anyone buying it right now, wait until it is fleshed out and hopefully perfected.
PROS:
-
Beautiful artstyle, boss intros are honestly to die for and sometimes have me rewatching em cause they are so pretty.
-
Good music that is nice but doesn’t get stuck n your head in a grating way.

Gods Will Fall
I will say this right off the bat this game is definitely not for everyone. This is not diablo don’t play if you cannot stand losing or think this is a simple button masher. (WARNING: This game was designed for a controller, although it is not impossible to play with a keyboard it will take practice, dont hesitate to reconfigure the keys to something you are comfortable with)
The basic premise is you have 8 randomly generated warriors and 10 gods to kill, to kill one you must choose one warrior to control and traverse the dungeon of said god and then face him in combat, be warned once inside there are only three endings. Victory, capture or death. The catch however is that on each playthrough the strength of the boss will vary each time, the boss that was super easy in your first playthrough might be the strongest in the next one, worst of all you have no way of knowing until you send someone inside and once inside there is no backing out.

A challenging game full of charm and atmosphere. Note: I bought this on special with 40% off.
I finished Gods Will Fall last night and was pleasantly surprised at the fun journey I had just had. I bought this game despite the mixed reviews because I saw something in the trailers that just clicked with me and I think a lot of the negative reviews are there because the game isn’t what most gamers were expecting.
Yes the game has rogue-like elements and dare I say it, is a little souls like, but over all I think the game sets out to do it’s own thing in a way that put some players off because again, they weren’t expecting it.

Sleepy Sunday
Welcome to your Happiest Nightmare!
Fight your way through hordes of powerful enemies in this colorful action-packed 2D roguelike!
Escort Nicky, your annoying but trusty companion as you venture your way through a dangerous but charming dream-like world so you can both escape it!
Die & Retry
Nobody said leaving would be easy. Old friends and new rivals will do their best to stop you from doing so, making your trip quite challenging. Your opponents may also change from a run to another, so don’t count on getting used to them! You will probably die. A lot. But who knows, with a bit of luck and experience, you’ll probably reach your goal at some point, right?
Gather Companions
Why go solo, when you can count on your friends to give you a helping hand? Find companions on your way, and have them join your team! When you’re not fighting your way through the dream lands, why not talk with them, and get to know them better? They probably have some stories to tell, too!
Various Weapons
Not only you can count on your trusty baseball bat to help you through, but you might even find a cool alternative with new original weapons such as a baseball bat, a laser gun and a… Yoyo?
Friendly Baddies
Even though you may exchange a few punches with your enemies, it doesn’t mean you guys can’t become friends. Have a few words with them when not fighting, and you may become best buddies! Maybe even more… Who knows?
Get Trendy
Even though you’ll probably die a lot, don’t expect your efforts to be in vain. Unlock upgrades and original attires in shops and express yourself with cool combinations of clothes and masks!
Sleepy Sunday’s wacky world is waiting for you! Brace yourself, it’s about to get tough!
Enlightenment
TLDR: This game has potential but it’s way too buggy and unstable to be an acceptably finsihed game. It also has a buttload of terrible design choices that make it a horrible chore instead of an enjoyable experience.
Some of the bugs I’ve encountered when playing:
1. Several pieces of text are still in Chinese
2. The options menus don’t work properly or at all (eg. changing resolution etc.)
3. After playing a few times you get bugs like texts missing altogether from upgrade cards and when that happens the cards don’t seem to have any effect on your character

Before going any further I will go ahead and say I whole-heartedly recommend this game. My review will probably have what would be considered spoilers, but there’s really not any story to this game so all there is to spoil is what lies farther up the tower you venture into. My review will consist more of a guide on how to get the most out of the game along with what made me enjoy it. Anyways, here we go:
This game is so simple…but maybe that’s what makes it so satisfying. Within the first ten minutes of playing the game I thought it was some cheaply made, partly unfinished, money grab of a game. Cheaply made might still apply but it has a fantastic weapon system and world built into the game, coupled with a very interesting (if shallow) cast of characters that gave the game a ton of charm. In particular, the shaman like guy who gives perks made this game hard to put down, all in the hopes of getting an unlimited ammo perk to make things easier. What really makes the game worth sticking with though is the large amount of unique weapons. You find a duo of guns that work well together, paired with some good perks from the card guy, and you’ve got yourself an extremely enjoyable run through the dungeons. I spent a good 10+ hours on this game all within the course of 3 days I enjoyed it all so much. The last dungeon type felt very bland compared to the first 3 or 4 types (each type consists of 2 floors), but still it didn’t take away from how much fun those earlier floors were. The genius of the game I think is just that though; they clearly sank a lot more effort into the first few dungeon types because that’s where the vast majority of your time is spent in the game. Once you get to the last 1 or 2 types things are usually a breeze so making things memorable probably didn’t make as much sense design wise. AND it worked in my case. The first 2 floor types were very memorable. The first type being a barracks/warehouse type of feel, followed by a mansion setting- which funny enough is where the hardest boss in the game is; at the end of the 2nd dungeon type (end of floor 4). I’ll stop now before I spoil too much. Buy the game- it’s easy worth the asking price. If you can get the game on sale then don’t hesitate, just buy it, stick with it more than 15-20 minutes and you’ll be glad you did. (Basically I advise sticking around at the very least to where merchants start joining the startng area, which bring with them ways to “level up.” Take the added loadout perk (whichever the one is that gives you more gun choices in the opening room) first, which IMO gives you a much better chance to get some enjoyable weapons- which is what makes the whole game worth playing.

Fabular: Once upon a Spacetime
Once upon a spacetime there was a young knight who went on a brave adventure…
As your Royal father’s last hope, battle, loot and upgrade your way through the galaxy. Engage space-knights in challenging close combat, explore a storybook-like retrofuturistic universe and save the kingdom from the dreadful Void Lords who stole the Sun.
Features
-
Top-down, tactical physics-based action combat with stylish real-time-lit pixel art visuals
-
Artistic vision of the Middle Ages infused with futuristic elements, as medieval knights clash in armored spaceships
-
Deep and atmospheric universe with surreal, out-of-this-world locations
-
Randomly generated illustrated text-based events featuring folktale-inspired characters and situations
-
Upgrades, skills, items, loot and unlockables providing plenty of replayability
Overview
In this artistic mashup of the Middle Ages, folktales and outer space, you take on a hero’s journey as the King’s youngest child. You explore the furthest corners of the galaxy in your trusty spacecraft and engage other space-faring knights and creatures in battle using a unique, techno-fantasy themed skillset.
Adventure
Explore a randomly generated universe of hidden secrets and grave dangers by traveling on a galactic starmap, where each place yields a new encounter. Plan your exploration well and be mindful of your choices. Resources and friends are scarce in Fabular’s deep space, and they can make or break your adventure. The adventure part of the game is influenced by modern day rogue-likes such as FTL: Faster than Light and Hand of Fate.
Battle
Control your spacecraft directly from a top-down view, and use the skills and equipment of your spaceship tactically to overcome the enemy. The combat system is deep and challenging with large ‘build’ variety. The battle part is inspired by the Star Control series and Dark Souls.
Manage
The outcome of battles depend largely on the condition and equipment of your ship. There is only so far your action skills can take you, if you are not equipped for the situation, you will likely perish. After each battle you get some form of loot (currency, resources or items) which can be used to upgrade your ship, trade at shops or enhance your battle gear. The management portion of the game draws inspiration from such classic Action-RPGs as Diablo and Path of Exile.
