Potato Party: Hash It Out

Potato Party: Hash It Out

VR needs more games like this!! This has been fun so far – played mostly with online friends, but planning to bring it out at game nights in the near future (seems like it’ll be better in-person actually – there’s a spectator mode if you want to run it on a shared screen).

Hoping for more VR party games like this in the future :)

Oh this is such a fun game, an awesome party game, particularly ideal in the pandemic because you don’t really need to be in the same room to enjoy it. it’s like charades in VR with a few other added things. It’s got cute characters and ways for people to suggest ideas for the “artist”. I never get over the amazing experience of 3d drawing in VR so naturally I can spend hours on this game. I would love more brushes and colors, I want to draw Mona Lisa in that two minute time :D (there is a Mona Lisa painting hanging on one of the walls too).

Late For Work

Late For Work

This game is fun for the whole family. If you have multiple kids who love VR but can’t play many of the games due to content/multiplayer then this may be your game. Now given it’s in it’s early stages it doesn’t feel complete but I have not run into any major bugs. In my opinion at it’s core, is a solid, fun, game idea that I hope gets future updates.

The graphics are in a basic polygon style and it runs smooth on a GTX 980 with no problems for any players. The game play for the PC players take me back to N64 days in terms of graphics and controlling the tanks/planes (I mean this in a fun way).

Late for work is great fun with friends! I played maybe 20 minutes single player and it wasn’t anything amazing in my opinion but when I got together with friends we played for hours without stopping and that is where the game really shines. My favorite mode by far is last man standing where players pick up powerups to enable them to turn into random items in the environment to hide from the gorilla.

I would highly recommend this game for anyone looking for a fun local co op vr game.. I plan on playing this a ton in the future. If I were to rate this game in its current state I would give it a 8/10 which is pretty amazing since it is still in development, I imagine that score will only go up. My only wish is that they added better AI for single player and more game modes and maps but im sure that more will come with time.

Operation Armstrong

Operation Armstrong

Great party game.

Just played for 5 hours straight with 3 people, taking turns and replaying the odd level. We got just under 2/3 of the way through the campaign I think. With more people, there’s a good amount of replayability, as people can take turns to be in the headset, but probably not heaps of replay value beyond that at the moment, because of the linear nature of the puzzles (not a criticism, as that is to be expected with this style of game).

Amusingly, we played all of that (except for the odd level which we skipped) using just the mobile screens and not the screen on the PC which contains a lot more information than the mobile screens, as we only discovered when we were packing up that there’s actually also a display on the PC which has the extra info. Despite that, it was heaps of fun and a real challenge. Occasionally the challenge “jump” felt a bit extreme, but in hindsight, this is probably because we weren’t using the computer screen!!

I’ve really enjoyed this game when we had a party. It causes quite some chaos and laughs in such an atmosphere!

It’s a simple game and requires multiplayer. I’ve yet to encounter any issues whatsoever.

There’s no option menu, but that honestly doesn’t really matter for a game like this, with this price.

Maniacal, boisterous laughs the whole time from our 5 year old. Great fun for the family, groups, parties.

Gameplay feels pretty one sided though. Being the farmer is quite difficult. Even I (a gamer of 25+ years) was beaten by my 10 year old when I was the farmer. Also our 4 year old (fox) who has barely played any controller games beat our 10 year old (VR farmer). It’s possible we had extra difficulty / glitches due to streaming from our PC to the Oculus Quest, but… it seemed like the chickens were just difficult to catch in general. It kind of added to the fun but perhaps the devs can make some adjustments to even the odds a little. Either way it’s still worth the very reasonable price for a few laughs here and there. Maybe some additional game modes would have give it longer life and playtime too.

The “dollhouse” feel of being in VR surrounded by lots of little guys is VERY cool, and actually rather ideal for new players (playing with small bits and bobs is instinctual from childhood). The way you actually grab and use stuff is a little frustrating though, and there is a lot going on in the menus on the controllers that can make them rather intimidating to new users. These issues are there for game balance though - the best part about this game is playing it in a living room with other people. Easily one of the best VR party games around.

When new VR games come out the phrase “must have” gets tossed around from time to time, but hear me out; if you have friends that come over to play VR, if you loved Panoptic but felt like it was lacking depth in it’s game mechanics, if you love the kind of games that always end with someone saying “AHH! One more! Let’s play one more!”, then this is a MUST HAVE for you!!

The game is a 1v1, Vive vs PC local multiplayer (with online multiplayer coming down the road) game. As the PC player you must turn off 4 generators. As the Vive player you must STOP the PC player from accomplishing this. Luckily for the PC player you easily blend in with the hundreds of other andriods that look just like you. The Vive player has some tricks up his sleeve to find the PC player in the form of three abilities; Freeze (freezes all andriods EXCEPT the player, so while everyone is frozen be searching for the one android who is still moving), radar (your controller will vibrate more intensely the closer your hand is to the PC player), and barrier (which puts a barrier around the generators preventing the PC player from turning them off for a few moments). The PC player also has three abilities; Blind (which blinds the Vive player for 10 seconds), invisibility (turn invisable for 6 seconds), and false alarm (trick the Vive player into thinking one of the generators has been shut down).

Reiko’s Fragments

Reiko’s Fragments

This is a great game, it has great opportunities for different modes and becoming more than it already is. This game is definitely worth trying out, and is a lot of fun to play with a group of people. The graphics are good, and I actually felt like I was walking around in a haunted house. The one big problem I have with this game is the little amount phone players can do to affect the game play experience. All they can do is blow some stuff around, slam a door, and make some noise every once in a while. It is things that might surprise the player, given the right time and place, but that’s it.

Party games are boring? Not interactive enough?

Well… YOU… ARE… WRONG!!

The game is basicly one player taking the place of playing in either VR or using a keyboard and mouse.

Goal of the game is to find the real Reiko and get the gate she is holding to a specific location.

Though there is an enemy in the game that cannot see you, but she can hear you.

The “crowd” controls the play space that the player is in. They control certain things in the game to make it a lot harder for the player to win. And when there can be up to 8 “crowd” players agains 1 player this is a perfectly unique 1v8 Horror game.

FOREWARNED

FOREWARNED

Though may are quick to chalk FOREWARNED up as another shitty Phasmophobia clone, they couldn’t be further from the truth. While both share the aspect of investigating spiritual happenings, that is just about where their similarities end. FOREWARNED places the player into the shoes of an archaeologist investigating Egyptian tombs that have seemingly came to fruition out of thin air. Inside these tombs, you will gather varying forms of evidence that are more closely related to science (e.g. metal detector, Geiger counter, electronic/magnetic disturbance, etc.). This is really the antithesis of Phasmophobia, which heavily focuses on more supernatural forms of evidence (e.g. EMF). During your expeditions into these forgotten monuments, you can expect to be faced with traps that will hinder your progress. Once all is well and done and you have discovered which Mejai you are dealing with, you must steal preserve the artifact located inside the inner tomb. Upon retrieval, the exit in the tomb will be blocked and you must find a hidden lever to secure your freedom once more, but be weary as you may have just woken up something sinister.
