Incarnata: Dormant Stories

Incarnata: Dormant Stories

Incarnata is a text-based game where everything is procedurally generated: offering an incredible depth, within an infinite world.

Dive into this adventure simulation and become everything you decide to be. The game adapts and builds challenges, creates unique characters, places, and goals for you to weave your own story.

Gameplay depth

Will you aim for your enemy’s throat or maybe their left eye? Will the memory of this fight stop your character from sleeping tonight? Are you wearing enough layers of clothes to protect you from the cold? Create your own story by playing with an unprecedented level of depth.

Procedural everything

Everything in Incarnata is generated by a complex algorithm. The world, the items you find, but also the story you are going to live through. Love, Betrayal, Twists, and Challenges are all handled by an algorithm meant to always keep you on your toes.

Extremely moddable

About everything in the game can be changed. Play as a human in a medieval fantasy world, a cyber human in a dystopian future, a wild animal with godly powers. Anything you can think of, the game can be made to play.

As a modder, you are able to change the world the players will explore but also the very actions that are at their disposal. Incarnata works as the platform where your dream world will come to life.

Your custom-made content is incorporated within the procedural generation algorithm, allowing creators to be players in their own world.

I didn’t like this quite as much as Combination Lessons. Some of it felt too similar to the material already covered. That said, is it worth the time & money to buy and play this one? Oh absolutely heck yes. You definitely want to get and play both if you play Chess.

What would I like to see more of? Bot.vinnik opening moves & mid-game strategies. I need these to exist.

Not gonna lie here: presentation is awful, but hell if this isn’t a GREAT game to learn more about chess. I was seriously and very pleasantly caught off guard by this one.

VERY recommended for chess amateurs and veterans alike, it’ll teach you some chess concepts and present you with situations that’ll help you think 2-3 moves in advance and hopefully improve your board vision and playstyle, definitely the kind of thing every chess enthusiast should look into.

I hate when there is no options for key bindings. Don’t like playing with arrow keys on pc. Both Em-A-Li games can be navigated by mouse, that’s good but you have to press enter key to enter doors or use items, which ruins it.There is a non stop static noise in bg from start which is annoying for me. The story is not that good and the voice narration lags behind the words narration so I end up reading faster and skip which ruins the fun.No options for narration format so no choice. Game is small and doesn’t eat up time. If i play it continuously it will finish within 35 mins i guess. Still not worth the time for me. Ended up watching youtube while playing lol.

Another of those games where the overall rating is probably neutral, but there’s no such option on Steam, so I’ll err on the positive side because I did enjoy my short time with it (my playtime is quite a bit longer than what you need, I started in a different computer and then I tried to be very thorough).

The game is almost a visual novel/walking simulator in terms of how limited interaction is. There’s a few hotspots along the way which you can interact for more flavour text which can be mixed, but the main narrative has a grand total of one meaningful “choice” in it, which really only skips you some small amount of content if you take the more “obvious” (at least if you are generally genre savvy) option. I saved at this supposed fork in the road and when I came back to see what happened and was relatively unimpressed with what was there.

Lightstep Chronicles

Lightstep Chronicles

A real treat to play. The AI and its many personalities all present unique perspectives and goals to the table. It’s hard to know who to trust and how the game will progress. There are quite a few dialogue options, and many conversations warranted replays in order to discover alternative goals and dialogue, especially if you decide to work toward achievements. Takes around 3-4 hours to complete on the first playthrough, and the big cutscenes are skippable.

Although there were some questionable moments in the dialogue options that can make you go “that’s not what I meant,” the game is immersive and gets you invested in the fates of everyone and everything present. This game, unfortunately, does suffer from offering the player fake choices in some areas where you’ll have different dialogue options that give you the same result, with barely noticeable long-term effects. It’s a bit of a shame that there is no option to replay a specific chapter, but the game isn’t too long if you want to find out all the available options in a chapter.

Honestly there are very clear things to love and hate this game for. The story-telling aspects of this game are unpecable, including the marvelously written text as well as the music. What trully did disapoint was the fact that it did not realy feel like there were any type of branching story paths. There are multiple twists that caught me off guard throught the game, but in the few times it did not i felt stupid having to fall into a “trap” to progress the story. Despite that I definetely advice anyone to buy this game. The story is EXTREMELY compeling and the visuals are stunning. If you are willing to play something more akin to a interactive book, then this game is perfect for you, very similar to “The Ballad Singer” in terms of gameplay.

For the price, it’s a nice Chess game with a charming personality and nice music and aesthetics. I feel like the tune will be stuck in my head tomorrow. Lots of cool fun facts about the games you’re solving. I only encountered one bug where the text glitched out, but it wasn’t a big problem.

Let me be clear, I really liked the first game. I think it did most things right and while I wasn’t a fan of the jumpscares and it definitely looked like an indie game production wise.

This game is a perfect example of how sometimes, less is more.

Let me start with my biggest pet peeve of this game, and that’s the extreme slowness of it all. The entire plot is not that long, I actually think it might be around the same length as the first game, but it is padded out by how extremely slow it all is. Be it conversations or the extreme amount of stuff you need to click through and scan gets annoying on the second playthrough, if not first.

This game is good, I like it even though I don’t like horror games this one is good.

Dont be fooled by the graphics though

Edit: I just finished this game and all i can say was WHAT THE HELL WAS THIS.

This game is like hot steaming garbage, No it cant even be compared to garbage

First of all, all the jumpscares were lazy and not even scary.

Second of all, the gameplay sucks, most of it is just walking around.

And lastly, Where was the story, it was like it was trying to make one but patheticly failed

First of all, I would like to thank the developer and the other players to answer me stupid questions about my course.

There was a part of the game that you would need to find something in an inclined view with very crude mosaic. My eyes ached after several minutes, so I have to quit the game (with Alt+F4, since there’s no in-game menu or exit function provided) and for this reason may not try it anymore.

The story so far is quite jumpy, which remains me of Thirty Flights of Loving.

I also encountered some game-breaking bugs, like dropping from the edge of the map and stuck in the volcano, in which case you have to shut down the game and restart it from the last checkpoint.
