Death Squared

Death Squared

I freaking love this game. Writing a review partially because this game deserves an “overwhelmingly positive” and I’d like to help take it there. I’ve played with 4-5 people in the party mode for a dozen or so levels, and done half the main levels so far playin' with my dad. In terms of a puzzle game, yes, does the job, makes you think, then makes you think in a completely different way, very satisfying.

I think what most makes this game stand out for me is the fun in the actual death and failure, especially playing with someone else. Sometimes you get some deaths in just for fun and to see the animation and dialogue…and to annoy your partner, of course….

A simple idea well executed, a funny co-op puzzle experience.

Co-op puzzle

In Death Squared you must cooperatively solve puzzles. Each player has a cube-character that can only move, there is no other function. Each player has to move to their respective endpoint to solve the puzzle. Along the way you have to stand on switches to change the level, dodge lasers tied to one character, stand on each other’s head to serve as bridge, not die, and most importantly not kill the other! This is a typical game to just start playing! Play only co-op though. You can control two characters with a keyboard, so a perfect snuggle game! Although… it will most probably start a fight…

Tennis World Tour 2

Tennis World Tour 2

Better than the reviews suggest by far, however they are somewhat accurate in their complaints, and I think some dev work on it could help improve it. Even as-is I think it’s good as a tennis game past the initial hump, and as a game in general I think it’s passable.

Specific points:

1. “I can never release the button at the right time, it’s random!”

The timing mechanic is difficult to grasp, because it is “release a button ‘at the right time’” ..with not enough feedback on when the ‘right time’ really is, because it depends on the specific animation picked - so how close you are to the shot, how fast it is, how far up you’ll contact the ball, etc.

Update after April 23, 2021 patch:

The game is approaching Top Spin 4 levels now. It’s not quite there in some areas (online netcode is a bit shaky and the variety of tactics usable in rallies is still pretty low), but in most aspects it’s now a pretty good tennis game. I’m definitely impressed by the level of improvements and support the game has gotten.

The custom animations for the players are a really nice touch that makes exhibition mode much more appealing. Graphics have definitely seen a big boost since launch which is unexpected but nice. I’m super happy to finally see the white on-court advertisement boards replaced. Compared to the version of the game that launched it’s unrecognisable, really,

SUPERVERSE

SUPERVERSE

Playing Superverse is really awesome experience.

Whole universe against you, just like old retro games when we were saving world and universe from bad guys, those were good old times. What can one wish for more.

Excellent graphics and fluid gameplay is something that is typical for this game.

Tested on keyboard which can be playable but i recommend with Joypad. It is totally different experience.

Once you get used to controls it becomes very natural and easy to play even versus tougher opponents.

Have you ever played Gate88? How about Chicken Invaders? Imagine Gate88 space mechanics and controls where you are floating and you can power up your weapons in Chicken Invaders style and just enjoy nice space scenery?

SUPERVERSE will give you all that and more. Although it is an early access game, it is offering interesting content. You are a small space vessel and you roam around different universes and upgrade weapons, Chicken Invaders style where more is better, enjoy the scenery and destroy enemy vessels.

Guns N Stuff

Very easy to learn and well planned out. It runs incredibly smooth for its size and although it requires you to have atleast one control is very fun to play. My only issue is controls seem a bit annoying but its not really a big deal. Other than that its easily the best 1$ i have played on steam by a landslide.

I have 0.8 hours on record as of this review, though I did play the demo a little bit too.

This is a review for the multiplayer. The game just came out, so I don’t know how easy it will be to get matches down the road - but this game is really fun multiplayer.

There’s tons of customization in your bot and pilot loadout, and multiplayer matches are these epic mind games. You might have a shield bot guarding your other bots and have them all huddle behind it, or go with long range attacks, etc. It’s a real mind game and the meta will probably change a lot.

AO Tennis 2

AO Tennis 2

I wanted to like this game, and it has it’s positive points. So while I don’t recommend it, it’s not without some reservations as it does have a few redeeming qualities.

Graphically this game is better than most, if not all others out there. It’s not “next gen” quality, perhaps they need a bigger budget for that, but if tennis and graphics quality are your thing, I doubt you will find a better option.

cut scenes/cinematics, are a nice touch. If you have no patience for these things, you can cut them short and get right back to it. Otherwise bask in the glory of a good game as you sit down and take a drink from your bench on a change over, or stare at your cool shoes as you slow motion walk onto the court.

This review is solely about the gameplay when going against the AI and my experience starting the career mode.

Even at the amateur difficulty level, It’s really hard playing against the AI if you try to play normal tennis as a new player. You can cheese drop shots and chip and charge because the game is broken in that way, but that’s not what I’m looking for. If you just care about winning, then cheesing as I’ve mentioned is the way to go, and you won’t find the game difficult at all. All of the issues I have with the game are about how hard it makes it to play normal tennis.
