Interregnum Chronicles: Signal

Interregnum Chronicles: Signal

First advice: Read the game description closely :)

This plays like a “walking” simulator inside a satellite called “Harmony” that accommodates one person, so you’re floating in microgravity with ways to grab onto things and push yourself around. The core of the game is to tweak signal processing using human interfacing terminals, and that mysterious signal of unknown origin and requires decoding to find out what it is/says/does. At first the system doesn’t have the capacity to process the entire signal so an Operator (you) needs to approve lots of AI upgrades. See where this is going?

So I have played this game a fair bit and tried to “get into it” but honestly, it’s pretty awful. I’m writing this review with steam saying that I have had 11 hours playtime, but really it’s more like 5 or 6 because I would leave the game on to “idle” in order to farm the necessary resources to progress the story.

And that is pretty much the game in a nutshell. Leaving it running to obtain an ever increasing targeted number of resources that are basically just numbers on one of several terminal screen’s. There are Networking, Data Processing and Memory “resources” that you need to increase in order to upgrade the stations AI and each resource is tied to the others with glass ceilings that you need to break by obtaining more of one of the other resources. There are ways to expedite the process such as using up to 4 batteries on a terminal but honestly, that just gets annoying. The batteries will explode if you overcharge them (or at least damage the stations electrics) and when you do use them they don’t last long at all. I haven’t timed them but I would be shocked if they actually last more than a minute or two at most. When you do have to recharge them as well, you can only carry one at a time and so you have to take each one from where you need it back to the garden where the charging ports are. Obviously you can’t plug one in and leave it charging whilst you fetch another as it will likely overcharge and short out the electrics so you end up floating along carrying one for a 2nd, dropping it to pick up another, dropping it to pick up a 3rd and so on until you get them where you need to go. Obviously you are in space with no gravity and so they drift…. a lot. Yeah, lets just say that gets old. Fast.

It has what it promised. I brought this to practice for real fpv. It does feel natural once you calibrate to your own quad (and this is a BIG thing). It has a very detailed and precise adjustements for the quad dimensions, weight… The presets are fun to discover possible new real drones to buy. The moving objects are quite fun to practice chasing around.

The only thing I might say it needs a bit more work is the map editor. But is okay once you get used to it and the good thing is that has the option to edit rather than not have it.

If you really enjoyed Emily Wants to Play and want another VR game similar to that one & you’re okay with clunky VR interactions & gameplay mechanics that need refinement, then I can recommend this game for you. Otherwise, I would say it’s a wait for a sale / wait for an update to the game.

In this game you’re crawling in the crawlspace while being chased by killer dolls. Each night brings a new threat and a different way to handle the threat. Meanwhile, you’re collecting baby dolls and bringing them back to the little girl’s room that is on lockdown for some reason until you finish the job. You have 5 nights to survive and your progress is automatically saved after each successful night.

Crawlspace is a VR escape the room game with Horror element. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You are trapped in a house with creepy dolls. You have to crawl through the crawl space to find dolls. Very scary. The skin for your arms were odd moving. There is nodal teleport movement and grip crawl movement. Very creepy environment. You have to survive in the house for five nights, each with different rules. So i guess you have to puzzle out how to stay safe from the scary doll attacks. The textures looked ok. The VR controls were ok. Game worked out of the box. Has in-game instructions as you started out.

The Patcher: The 1st Open Beta

The Patcher: The 1st Open Beta

“The Patcher” is a full-scale tactical multi-player action VR game.

Be strong! Be ambitious!

You must choose a faction – either ‘Junkmol’ or ‘Skymagg’ – as a Patcher of the Neo JS City. By fighting numerous battles, you will obtain weapons, revamp them, and gain experience. Every weapon and skill have degree of proficiency as you play, so you’ll get stronger as you level up.

Hybrid Multi-play

Don’t forget that you’re one of the factions, even if you fight against monsters on the battlefield. Cooperate with your fellow Patchers! If you succeed in defeating a mighty monster with others, you might get a chance to obtain a rare item. However, when you come across an opponent of the other faction, it’s best to attack right away or retreat and bring in your allies. Your instant decision is critical in each battle.

Various Game Modes

The war between two factions ends only when one side ultimately falls. Get ready for the best result!

  • ‘Deathmatch’: Create a party to fight the other faction.

  • ‘Conquest War’: Occupy the enemy’s territories for as long as possible, by any means.

  • ‘Boss Raid’: Defeat the giant boss with your party members. However, you’re not the only hunters there. Compete with the other faction for the throat of the boss.

Strategic Action Combat

Since the past, the Patchers have fought strategically with three weapons: a sword, gun, and bow. Of course, each weapon has its own characteristics, but you must find which one works best for you and become skillful at using it. The weight, reach, accuracy, and control of each weapon is vastly different and is key to your tactics.

The Storyline of “the Patcher”

_‘Neo JS City’ was once the most beautiful city, and there was a reason for it. The upper classes wanted to get rid of anything they saw as dirty and trivial. That’s why they decided to move all the unpleasant facilities – like the sewage treatment plant and the prison – underground.

Meanwhile, some people illegally and secretly settled in these underground facilities. Their habitation was called the ‘Patch Build’, and they called themselves the ‘Patchers’.

But the environment around the Patch Build was more severe than they expected. Survival got harder and harder. This caused a rupture in the community. Some said pioneering a new land for a better future was be the way to go. Others wanted to stick to the existing land and refine what they already had.

Now, you must follow one of them – and choose your fate!_

I got this because I have a really low ceiling. I’m 5'7" and my ceiling is 6'4". so the ceiling is pretty much right above my head. I opened the program to find that there were no settings and I only had 3 boxes I could move. So I made a big wide box and put it above my head and the BLARING SOUNDS made me close the program every single time I wanted to play vr. BUT then I took the plunge and looked through the .xml files for settings. (You have to use the one with a room id!!!) I turned off sound, and found a setting for ceiling height so I didn’t have to put a haphazardly placed box above my head. After doing that this program is a must have for me and I love it. Also the impact prediction is also amazing and has saved me from many collisions in Boneworks. Save your controllers and get this if you have a low ceiling!!!

Because windows mixed reality software is god awful, you can’t adjust any of the chaperone settings its either they are ON or OFF. You can’t adjust the activation distance or anything. I play in a very small area with a bed in front of me and a 70 inch desk on the other side behind me. This program is perfect because it lets me put an invisible wall behind me where my desk is so I know where I am facing in vr. If I see the invisible box outline I just simply turn away so I don’t risk slamming my desk. Perfect for people who don’t want to use guardians but still want to prevent themselves from hitting things. It would be cool if the dev can make a “fake steam vr guardian” that can be manually placed around your room and adjusted like the crates which would be fully adjustable with activation distances and everything. Would be really helpful for Windows Mixed Reality users who have limited ability to change stuff like that in mixed reality portal.

Pros:

  • Good UI (in some places)

  • Logical review system (i think, did a few tests and seems that way)

  • Can get your own OS on the ratings

  • Smooth animations are back

  • Leagues better than the crap mobile version

Cons:

  • MAJOR graphical issues from newest update, everything is pixelated no matter what settings (still not fixed, devs ignoring this bug)

  • Never gonna receive updates (this company never add features post-release)

  • Lots of minor and some major bugs that will never be fixed

  • Bad UI (in some places, like how you can’t view laptop reviews after its out, hard to memorise everything they said in that 1 panel)
