Core Alpha
Core Alpha is an arcade shooter that is being developed with an eye on old-school. There is an endless dynamic of actions here, in order to win-you must always be on the move. The player will have to fight with a large number of enemies, and then with the main bosses, as well as destroy enemy cores. And the main thing to remember is that in this situation, movement is your life.
Don’t fall for the crowds of monsters that spawn from the cores. Destroy the cores yourself to fight the boss. And don’t stand still.

Putrefaction 2: Void Walker
Moving on from 2015’s poor man’s Doom 3 to 2017’s poor man’s Doom 2016: Putrefaction 2 improves upon almost every flaw of its predecessor and shows how a one-man-project is done the old-school way. My expectations were kept at bottom level, but this game took me elsewhere: the efforts of searching for a decent low-budget FPS are finally coming to fruition, never ever did I think it would conquer such heights, literally. Without overhyping something of such small scale, Oleg Kazakov most certainly earned my respect for making this little gem so damn fun.

Rating: bad (4/10)
Introduction
Putrefaction 2: Void Walker is a first person shooter in an post-apocalyptic mystical world setting, similar to Doom or Quake. It contains a lot of shooting simple AI, upgrading weapons and jumping for puzzles or progress.
Gameplay & Story: 5/10
The story continues the first part of the series Putrefaction - after killing the boss in the first part you get teleported by a strange being into a new world where you have to chase after some special power that this being wants to possess. Besides running, shooting and jumping you wont have much to do in this game. The dialogs between the main character and the “skull” inside his head are supposed to be funny, but they reminded me so much of Duke Nukem and Serious Sam, where it was fun for the first time but gets old too quick. Some secrets were hidden really well and I had to use a guide to find them to not spend hours just searching for a secret for finishing an achievement. It is possible to upgrade some of your character stats and weapons by gathering energy from fallen enemies or finding secret spots. The weapons can gain special abilities like setting enemies on fire or stunning them, which gives little RPG feeling to this First Person shooter.

Cathedral 3-D
“I like the aesthetics and bold discount tactics” - My friend Berry
I’ve got to say that this game is really great. I don’t know if there is anything else like it or if it’s emulating a style but that does not matter. Cathedral 3D’s movement, speed, style, and mechanics combine for an awesome time.
The game has a simple tutorial, some would argue to simple. Just get in there and play, figure out routes, learn what attacks work best, and stack combo orbs which give you invincibility, shield, or invincibility for your chest. To reload your health and ammo, you must be holding the chest as you run over the grails. Additionally, your point modifier depletes if you stray to far from the chest.

I’d say this game is well worth your time if youre a fan of arena shooters with a unique spin. Fans of Devil Daggers and the like will feel at home with this fast paced First Person Demon-er.
While the game doesn’t do much in terms of hand holding, there’s a bit to take in mechanic wise at first. But after a few play-throughs and learning the ins and outs on your own its an easy beast to tame. Flying around as a demon in this massive gorgeous cathedral feels so satisfying and blasting away and taking out your foes its a lot of fun.

Just got the game, I got it while working at the VR Atelier Amsterdam, where we played various games. I like it a lot. Especially the disc throwing, it feels great! I also like the retro wave vibe.

the music is chill, the game looks easy but dont be deceived lots of aiming and trying to hit those targets. I like that you can pick different levels and they are either harder or easier than the last level.
for the price its a good buy. You will get a lot of play time out of this.

Monument
Maybe my judgement is affected by playing too many terrible raycast engine maker games lately, but I don’t think this game deserves all the flack it’s getting in the reviews section here. Yes, it has problems, but for the price (especially on sale) it’s a decent classic Quake-wannabe FPS shooter.
The Good:
-
classic Quake-style gameplay (though not nearly as good as Quake itself obviously)
-
no ammo cap for any of the guns, unless it’s 999 or something which I’ve never reached
-
no weapon reloading, though some guns have recoil that gets worse the longer you hold down the fire button which is fine

The game’s scalability is extremely ridiculous. Very simple commands that are not explained to the player which makes everything more complicated.

Sumerian Blood: Gilgamesh against the Gods
Oh hey Archon, longtime no see. No, really, this game is indeed an Archon, and seems like it would have easily fit in back in the early EA days, alongside Adept and Mail Order Monsters.
Sumerian Blood almost feels like a prequel to Archon. The various units are nicely diverse, the combat’s fun, and it’s easy enough to aim and control. You’ve got various units that fling spikes, bouncing arrows, homing balls, or just throw themselves explosively at enemies, so combat’s going to stay fresh for awhile.

Pretty fun. Somewhat janky combat, but that’s part of the appeal. I’d love to see a sequel with more options / game customization and tighter controls.
